⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Enchanting Stay at Borgo Santo Pietro
Pros:

Our stay at Borgo Santo Pietro was pure magic. From the moment we arrived, the calm beauty of Tuscany surrounded us. We were upgraded from the Rosmarino Garden Suite to the Casa dei Fiori Bianchi Pool Suite (Casa de Fara)—a secluded haven with a private pool and lavender-scented towels, robes, and bedding that made every detail feel luxurious.

Before we even checked in, I mentioned needing a specific mouthwash. The staff found it and had it delivered that same evening—a small act of care that perfectly captures Borgo’s spirit.

We took the estate’s bicycles, freely scattered around for guests to use, and explored the gardens filled with lavender, rosemary, and lemon balm. Along the way we saw alpacas, chickens, and rabbits, whose fresh eggs appear at breakfast each morning. Nearly everything served here is grown or produced on-site.

Dinner both nights at Trattoria sull’Albero, the “Treehouse,” was unforgettable—soft lantern light, the scent of wood smoke, and soulful Tuscan cuisine at its finest.

Borgo Santo Pietro isn’t just a hotel—it’s a living expression of Tuscan grace and sustainability. Every person there radiates warmth and pride. We left restored and already dreaming of our return.

The Stay Of A Lifetime
Pros:

Words cannot express how perfect our stay was at Borgo. We spent four days here to celebrate our engagement and stayed in the Vecchio Forno suite. If we were to return we would be insistent on getting the same room -- we felt so lucky to have stayed in such a historic suite! The suite was massive, with tall ceilings, two bathroom sections, a sitting area, and a gorgeous private patio space. This particular villa we found to be mid-tier in terms of pricing yet separate from the main house. The location of the suite was incredibly central. We had the bike station next to us, the great lawns, pool, and restaurants just a few steps away. The service, from the moment we arrived, was top notch. Staff went above and beyond to meet any small request and we were astounded by the ways we did not see one bill the entire time. Everything was incredibly discreet. My partner and I both got the jet-lag treatment at the spa and we can each confidently say that it was the best massages we've ever received. We also had some of the best Negronis of our lives at the patio bar. We opted to eat at Trattoria for all lunches and dinners and the menu always gave us new and exciting options (we found it was not worth the extra money to eat at the Michelin restaurant, which we found to be very formal). Each day we biked down to the stunning river for a swim (the bike ride, while easy to navigate, is directly in the sun -- recommended to bring lots and lots of water!!) and each day we tried to discover a new part of the sprawling property. We cannot wait to return to celebrate our next milestone. Thank you infinitely Borgo!!!

Pros:

This pristine and beautiful property took our breath away upon arrival. Five star service and amenities abound. Our suite was stunning and well appointed. We felt as if we stepped back in time and were reminded of what outstanding service and accommodations should be like ~ a much needed respite after a busy week in Florence. The restaurants were outstanding. Top notch property and my husband referred to Borgo Santo Pietro as the most beautiful hotel he’s ever stayed at. So very grateful. The Heils

Dishonest company, do not give them your money
Pros:

This hotel is not honest about money. This hotel owes me money since over a year, a small sum, only about Euros 300 and has been stringing me along saying they will send, they have sent it, but I've never received it. The only thing I can think is that they have financial problems otherwise what hotel in their right mind would sacrifice their reputation for so small an amount.

Another Refund Failure
Pros:

Add me to the list of people still waiting for a refund... Had to change plans and cancelled my reservation in May of 2025. Although Amex stated that they would refund within 45 days, hotel emailed and said 60 days. After 60 days I contacted them and asked for my refund immediately. No response.
I had planned to stay here on one of our next trips to Italy, but obviously that is not going to happen. Beware.

Disappointing for the price-the little details weren't there
Pros:

We decided to book here for my 40th birthday. Whilst it was undoubtedly beautiful, I don't think the management was what was required for the cost of the stay. Prior to staying my husband had organised for a birthday cake for the meal for my birthday as a surprise. Upon arrival three separate staff came to ask about details for the cake in front of me despite my poor husband trying to explain it was meant to be a surprise. The room was nice enough, but the shower leaked and it was clearly a recurrent problem as there was mould, which is not what I would expect for the cost of a night there. On my birthday itself, the hotel and staff did nothing at all to acknowledge it, despite the fact they must have known because of the cake and some friends had arranged for a bottle of champagne for me. I'm not saying they have to do anything, but at much cheaper hotels you would at least get something like "happy birthday" written on a plate, or at least have any member of staff acknowledge it. It was just missing the little extras that you would expect of a place of this calibre. There were also minor issues like housekeeping would always come to do our room whilst we were getting ready for dinner, despite the fact we had reservations at the hotel so they would have known when our room would be free. We did raise some of these issues with staff on a couple of occasions but just got a shrug of the shoulders and nobody cared.

None of these issues would even merit comment were it not for how expensive the hotel is. Essentially the standards do not merit the price. The actual staff in the restaurants and the pool were great, but it was like the management side was missing. By comparison, we stayed at Lupaia and Reschio as part of this holiday and they were off the scale amazing. This was a similar price/more and disappointing in comparison.

Great resort -- but still waiting on promised refund after dog attack
Pros:

Add me to the list of people who have yet to receive a promised refund from Borgo Santo Pietro.
First, let me say that this is an amazing – albeit expensive – resort, and in June we were enjoying our second visit in two years.
Unfortunately, on our last full day at the resort, my wife and I were hiking on the trails that meander throughout the property. One of the trails takes visitors to the two fenced-in fields with sheep. While we were standing along the fence observing the sheep, out of nowhere an angry sheepdog sprinted at me and bit me on the back of my leg, leaving multiple bleeding puncture wounds. Not surprising, my wife freaked out – but to make matters worse, the dog followed us closely, threatening to attack again as we walked backward (so we could watch the animal) for a quarter mile or so until we left the area near the sheep fields.
To the credit of Borgo Santo Pietro, they arranged for me to be transported by ambulance to a regional hospital 30 minutes away for treatment. That evening, we met the owner of the resort, who was extremely apologetic and explained that this breed of sheepdog is more vicious than those found in places like the UK because there are predatory wolves in the area. He also promised that the dog would be sent away.
We hope that had indeed happened, since the dog attack adversely impacted my vacation for the next week and a half; I was unable to go into the sea while we were in Forte dei Marmi or into the pool the few days when we were in Piedmonte. In addition, I was required to take antibiotics for the next 10 days to help prevent infection, and needed to carefully clean and rebandage the wound each day until it healed.
Also troubling is the fact that the dog attack should never have occurred in the first place. In fact, I was told by an employee (who was trying to reassure me) that the staff knew how to handle a situation like this since it had "definitely" happened before. It turns out that the same dog attacked another guest last year. The fact that this dog was allowed to remain at the resort -- and was able to escape the fenced-in field to attack another guest -- seems to border on negligence.
Given the situation, Borgo Santo Pietro agreed to waive our dining charges and the remaining amount due for our suite (the resort requires a 50% refundable deposit when the reservation was made). At checkout the next day, after hearing from a number of resort guests who were outraged by what happened – as well as our complaint about the negative impact that the attack would have on the rest of our vacation (not to mention the fact that our entire last day at Borgo Santo Pietro was ruined), the hotel manager agreed to refund our deposit of €3277. He said it would take approximately four weeks to process.
That was two months ago. When the refund did not appear on my credit card as promised, I reached out to the general manager about the status on July 10, and he told me that the resort needed my banking information instead so they could refund me via an international wire transfer. I provided the required banking information on July 11 – but I have yet to receive a refund.
This is quite troubling, since we were planning to visit the resort again next year on our annual trip to Italy. Unfortunately, this sequence of events – coupled with the fact that unfulfilled refunds seems to recent pattern based on other reviews -- has left a very sour taste in our mouths.
It will be interesting to see if Borgo Santo Pietro finally delivers the promised refund.

Beware of paying this hotel a deposit
Pros:

I have not actually stayed here but had paid a 950 Euro deposit for a booking in July and unfortunately had to cancel albeit well within the cancelation terms, I cancelled on 15th April and despite several promises by e mail and phone still have not received the refund as per the terms. I had every intention of re-booking but I am wary now and my advice would be just that be wary of booking and paying a deposit as it's so far been impossible to obtain the refund.

Not for poor people
Pros:

This is my review for Borgo Santo Pietro | Tuscany

Overall Score: 3.5/5
Clean Rating: 5/5
Other Hotel Amenities: 3/5

This is a luxury boutique resport located in the most beautiful tuscany region. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place felt very clean and welcoming (except for that wooden toilet lid… I don’t trust it). But it very very clean despite having a comfy rustic feel with candles burning everywhere. It was very farm to table which is very appealing now a days. The food that you eat was picked fresh in the morning from their own extensive garden. There’s lots of ammenities that the hotel offers such as cooking classes, rent a fiat and scooters, veggie picking in the morning, and a spa among other things.

We did two cooking classes and I feel like it was a MUST. We had so much fun. We learned more about italian culture and we could eat what we made (and even had leftovers!)

We rented the fiat and scooters to explore the nearby towns and had a blast! Felt very Letters to Juliet of us.

The veggie picking in the morning with the staff was a highlight. We got to get our hands dirty and pick items that would be used that very day in the restaurants.

We also took a free tour of the grounds and saw live animals and mingle with the staff.

The spa was only decent in my opinion. I have paid a lot less and enjoyed it a lot better than here. And I am not obsessed with all the natural creams… they weren’t life healing to me.

All in all it was a great trip but here is where I throw in a few cons to consider.

You are stuck there. We rented the fiat to tour the nearby towns but honesty nothing is there. You are forced to eat at the restaurants. Which is fine and dandy but also very expensive. Also to do cooking classes or rent the scooters and fiat it is very expensive. Which ok I get it…. It’s a luxury hotel. But basically I realized I was too poor to be there. I’m middle class and a housekeeper so i am obviously not making Lisa Vanderpump kind of money.

Kids are allowed at this hotel which normally I’m ok with. But the nannys that watch them (not sure if from the hotel or not) are obnoxious and loud. I think in general if I am paying Daddy Warbucks kind of money to stay some place I want to relax. I’m not on a Disney Cruise. But that’s just my opinion. I love kids I promise.

Anyway did I enjoy myself? Yes. But would I go back? No. But then again what do I know? I’m just a housekeeper.

Hotel Refused to Honor Refund and Kept Our Honeymoon Deposit Despite Promising Otherwise
Pros:

Attn: Massimo Moresi

It’s truly unfortunate that I have to write this review. My partner and I planned our wedding honeymoon party around a stay at Borgo Santo Pietro in May 2020, just as the pandemic began unfolding. Initially, we had a positive experience with the then-general manager, Patrizia, who graciously offered to either refund our deposit or reschedule for a later date, with no mention of any expiration on this arrangement.

We opted to reschedule for May 2021, with offer for refund still available, but as the pandemic was still ongoing, we reached out to the hotel to discuss our situation, again Patrizia assured us that she would look after us.

We were then later informed that Patrizia had left the property, and the hotel would now withhold our deposit unless we used it within the year. Unfortunately, I was dealing with a severe health issue during that time, which made travel impossible.

We were referred to you the new general manager, Mr. Massimo Moresi, to resolve the issue. Over the past two years, I have made countless attempts to contact you, as well as the front desk and front office team, via email and phone—at least 12 to 16 times. Shockingly, I have never received any response. I have a lengthy email thread of these attempts and a clear mark where your team stopped responding.

The lack of communication and the decision to withhold our wedding honeymoon deposit, which had originally been promised for refund, is beyond disappointing. It is astonishing that such behavior comes from a property of this supposed caliber.

To anyone considering staying at Borgo Santo Pietro, I would strongly advise caution. My experience has shown a complete disregard for professionalism, integrity, and customer care. Buyer beware.

Simply Phenomenal
Pros:

We stayed for 4 nights in September at the Borgo Santo Pietro, and although it is in the middle of nowhere, that’s part of the appeal and charm. If you want to visit wineries in Montalcino, Montepulciano or Bolgheri, you have to have a car or a driver. Most of these areas are about an hour to 90 minutes away by car. We had a car and enjoyed driving around the Tuscan countryside. But, you are captive at the Borgo - there is nothing around - nowhere else to eat - but when the food, service, atmosphere, lodging, etc. is as spectacular as this place, you don’t need or want to go elsewhere.

The Trattoria was our favorite, and the food, views, service and ambiance is thankfully still stuck in my head two weeks later. We ate there 3 nights and ate at the signature restaurant Meo Modo the other night. Everything we ate was a treat. You just could not go wrong with anything. Meo Modo probably needs a filet on the menu, as it is a bit fish heavy, but it was an incredible dining experience. The outside terrace overlooking the farm is indescribable. We are not easily impressed, but this place - Wow.

The grounds are gorgeous and the rooms are unique and art in and of themselves. We stayed in the Vecchio Forno room which is a separate cottage near the main entrance. It’s amazing. Pictures do not do this place justice. Just go. We will be back.

Charming Paradise
Pros:

From the moment we arrived, we felt as though we stepped into a dream. This resort in Tuscany is a slice of paradise, where every corner exudes elegance and charm. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Ann at breakfast was polite, friendly, and fun. Lynn, another amazing person who added to Borgo's charm. Emanuel, Restaurant Manager was gracious, and ran a beautiful restaurant with farm to table top notch meals. The Front Desk Manager, so friendly, made a point to talk with us and make sure we were having a great time. This is truly one-of-a-kind resort. 4 nights was too short. It's a place to make memories that will last a lifetime!

Pros:

The lights in the garden outside are on all night and the curtains don’t block the light. Despite multiple requests they were unable to switch them off. This was emblematic of a generally rigid attitude to service throughout. Breakfast ends abruptly. At exactly ending time all serving spoons are whisked away and doors to food closed. This didn’t stop them running out of yoghurt early however. The food was poor. My bean soup was a warmed up heap of beans that were still cold inside leading me to imagine a rapid but inadequate microwave. The property is beautiful but let down and I came away feeling unhappy and frustrated. The exact opposite of the feeling one wants after a stay in the countryside.
