Good location
Action
Very good location in town center (about 10 minute walk to ski lifts), but room was very basic. Only a very small closet with 4 hangers… would help if they added some hooks on the walls (which are bare). A nightstand and/or a table would be nice also.
Extremely friendly and helpful stuff. Location of the hotel is just a few minutes walk from bus terminal. There are different style of restaurants within walking distance.
Great location! Views of Happo One and so close to bus terminal, bars, restaurants and easy walking distance to Nakiyama lifts. Rooms on Level 3 were spacious for twin accom. Bathroom small but that’s typical in Japan. Hotel clean and comfortable, and staff helpful but not fluent in English. Bed was firm and comfortable. Room heater excellent and drying/storage room was adequate but not brilliant or large. Breakfast was good but not a buffet - served to your table (no choices) at appointed time so if you’re late, it’s cold!
All up, I’d say the positives outweigh the negatives with this hotel. I’d stay here again, especially if only coming to Hakuba for a few days due to excellent location
We stayed at the Hakuba Glorious Hotel for 12 nights during our ski holiday in Hakuba. We very much enjoyed our stay. Firstly the manager Saito was extremely helpful and followed up any request immediately and nothing was a problem. The waitress Junko spoke excellent English and was always efficient, helpful and very friendly.
Our room was very large, 2 single beds which they pushed together to make a queen, as well as a sofa, coffee table, fridge, hair dryer. Plenty of room to spread out, also good hanging space. There was free wifi in the room. The wifi was very good and had no problem with it.
The rooms are not serviced every day, you need to request for your towels and linen to be changed. This is not a problem, the towels were changed immediately on request. When we wanted the room cleaned, we requested this and it was carried out while we were out. Although we had our own bathroom, we made use of the hotel's onsen, which was great to soak sore muscles. We had fabulous views of the ski slopes from our room.
Our breakfast was well presented, tasty and filling. We ate twice in the restaurant at night and were very happy with the food and service. The speciality was Italian and it made a nice change to have something different.
The location is great, it is very central. It is a 7 minute walk to nearest lift which then gives you access to all of Happo One. The free shuttle to Goryu and Happo 47 is just across the road at a nearby hotel. The bus station is a 4 min walk. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.
The only downside is that the hotel is dated and could do with an upgrade. However, this did not detract from our stay. I consider it was value for money.
We have stayed in two other hotels in Hakuba on previous trips, Hotel Yamano and Hotel Goryukan. We chose Hotel Glorious because we booked late and it was one of the only Hotels available. In retrospect, Hotel Goryukan would have been a much better option.
I would NOT recommend staying at Hotel Glorious for a number of reasons.
First, the room is nothing special. Hard bed, stained/dirty shower curtain, there is tea and coffee but no tea spoons. No bath mat. Simply, there's no love or hospitality!
Second, they don't service the room (unless and until you ask). That means they don't clean it. They don't replace your towels. They don't even take out the rubbish or used cups and saucers. The staff were more than happy to do this AFTER we complained.
Third, the breakfast is not a buffet. They serve up ONE glass of juice and one and a half plates of food. The food is OK, but not great. It is not generous and not necessarily filling. Sausage and egg seemed to be a common combination.
Fourth, there is no Wi-Fi in the room. The manager apologised for this. I believe in-room Wifi was advertised, but it certainly wasn't delivered.
Hotel Glorious was bearable but expect hostel, rather than hotel service.
Didn't book anything till very late because of work and had no idea of what to expect when I got to Hakuba on my own. Then, on the second to last day of my ski trip, I broke my leg. The staff took me to the hospital, helped me in many ways to prepare for my trip home, brought food to my room (it is a hotel you eat at the cafeteria and no room service), helped to buy me a pair of sweat pants as I couldn't fit in my jeans with my cast on. It wasn't just the service but how they took care of me like a friend that really touched my heart. It sucks to get injuried when traveling alone but I left with a smile. The team at Glorious is wonderful.
Nice position but still a decent walk ( in ski boots ) to the slopes. I would call the accommodation above basic but definitely not luxury. Very clean and manager very helpful. Breakfast was spartan compared to other ski accommodations I've been at but after getting used to this we realised it was adequate.
Excellent hotel and the staff were exceptionally freindly, always smiling and went out of thier way to help us every day from check in to check out.
Really centrally located in Happo one close to the information centre and bus stop.
Hotel Glorious is absolutely AMAZING!
My family and I stayed here for a snowboard/ski trip in February and we were nothing but happy with our stay and the service we received.
We stayed in Japanese style rooms which were very comfortable and affordable.
The shared bathroom is very spacious and the Onsen is great! It was the perfect way to relax after a long day of snowboarding/skiing!
Each morning our table was beautifully set and we were served the most amazing breakfast.
We also had dinner one night which was absolutely beautiful as well! So tasty and super speedy coming out we hardly waited 5 minutes for our meals! Perfect service!
The manager was amazing and ALWAYS made sure we were well looked after. He was so friendly and we all adored him! He really makes your stay so welcoming! It felt like home!
The chef, waitress and kitchen staff were all such kind hearted amazingly friendly people who never stopped running around lending a helping hand to us and all the other guests within the hotel!
Every time we entered the building we were greeted by nothing but big smiles!
It was very sad leaving this hotel as we enjoyed it more than words can describe!
We will definitely stay here again on the next ski/snowboard holiday!
Thank you again for looking after us! We appreciate everything you all did for us and the kindness you gave us on a daily basis!
OH! Also.... my mum accidently brought the room key (room #215) back to Australia in her handbag! She is very sorry and will be posting this back to you tomorrow (Saturday 22nd Feb 2014).
Take care amazing staff members! We all miss seeing your smiling faces!
From Shelby, Beau, Robyn, Jaxon and Kristel! (rooms # 215 & 217 - Feb 12th to February 17th 2014)
Room clean on arrival, no lift but only 2 stories high. No housekeeping during our 4 night stay, but there was a note to say if we wanted clean towels we could exchange our used ones at reception, which we did no problem. Staff do not speak much English, and front door is locked at 10pm, you have to phone them to get back in! Very much a hostel feel at 4* hotel prices, would not go back again. There are much nicer hotels in Hakuba.
Friendly and helpful staff, good location, spacious rooms, 20% off ski gear hire at Spicy rentals if you're staying here
Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, friendly and welcoming staff, excellent hot spring common bathrooms, tasty and filling breakfast, convenient location for mountain access, good value for money. All in all pretty good.
2泊しましたが、朝食が2泊とも同じメニューでした。
少しメニューを変えてほしかったです。
部屋は割と広く使いやすかったです。
温泉が冬だと少しぬるいかも。
I stayed here with my girlfriend for 4 nights whilst snowboarding and had a great experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. On the first night the manager took us for some excellent traditional Japanese food and offered free lifts to the slopes to beat the queues of the shuttle buses. We also got a discount on our snowboard rental and had a decent breakfast each morning. The location is also ideal, a short drive to the slopes, lots of friendly bars and the information centre is a short walk. A great place to stay that is a reasonable price with friendly staff and is close to the slopes, cannot ask for much more.
We stayed here for 5 days for a snow trip in February. This hotel has a great central location, close the the main bus terminal, hire show, bars and most importantly Happo ski field. Only a short 7 minute walk to the base of the mountain. Our hotel manager was wonderfull, always making sure we where happy, trying to make conversations in English, he also went to the effort to explain every dish they cook us, and the food was wonderfull. A chiose between Japanese or western style dishes, both where a joy to eat. Yes we would stay there again.
