The Westin Playa Bonita Panama

This was our second time staying at the Westin Playa Bonita Panama. Our first visit was just a one-night layover, but we liked it so much we knew we had to come back. This trip we were traveling from the east side of the Panama Canal toward PTY and stayed a couple of nights before crossing the Canal to be closer to the airport. The staff were all super kind and quick to help, which really made the stay even better.
The service in the lounge was superb. The hostess seemed to know what we wanted before we even asked and treated us like we were the only people there, even when it was crowded. This level of service was consistent on both of our visits.
Our first stay was in the off-season, and we loved the quiet, more secluded feel. The second visit was a bit more crowded, but the atmosphere was still relaxed and the beach never felt too busy. The rooms are cozy, very clean, and Marriott beds are always the best for a good night’s sleep.
The cost is a little high, but there’s a lot to do on the property, so it still feels worthwhile. The room had everything we needed, though we’re not fans of the newer plastic single-serve coffee makers and would prefer a simple glass coffee pot instead.
Other then that, we look forward to visiting again.

We had a great time. The bar staff was very good. In particular, Jeriel was excellent. My only complaint would be with the service in the restaurants. The food was always very slow to arrive.

I had a wonderful experience with the restaurant service staff. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The service was quick without feeling rushed, and the staff created a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. It really made the dining experience stand out.

The hotel bartender was excellent—very attentive, friendly, and professional. He prepared the cocktails with great quality and was always willing to recommend options based on your preferences. His service made the experience much more enjoyable. Definitely a highlight of the hotel. 🍸

We had a great stay at this hotel. It’s a very good option if you want to be close to the city but not right in the middle of it perfect for a 2–3 day stay.

It’s also very convenient if you’re planning to do day tours, as several agencies offer pickups directly from the hotel. We did a tour to El Valle and another to Monkey Island & the Emberá community with Panama Bubble Trips, and everything worked out perfectly.

One evening at dinner, we were attended by Enrique Castillo, and I have to say his service truly stood out. He was incredibly attentive, kind, and professional. The hotel would be lucky to have more staff like him his energy is simply beautiful and contagious!

Micheal, Mailin, Jose, Elidia, Enrique, Joel, and Elsy made my experience here so much fun it feels like your eating or drinking with friends rather than a staff that is obligated to smile. They are friendly,kind , and exceptional at the jobs that they do. I highly recommend coming here as your experience inside this resort will feel like a party with friends and family.

My family and I had a lovely spring break here, and we’re already talking about returning! The beachfront views are absolutely beautiful — waking up to that ocean every morning set the tone for the whole trip.

Because it’s low season, the pool was never crowded and felt like our own private oasis. That actually made the activities even better. The resort offered bingo, corn hole, aqua aerobics, and more, and we jumped into all of it.

The highlight for me was aqua aerobics with VIVIAN ( Vivi). She brought SO much energy to every class and made the workouts genuinely fun. I met other vacationers in her 11am class, and we ended up forming a little pool group that met 3 out of our 5 days. That sense of community was my favorite part of the trip. Vivi also gave me a sense of Panamanian culture.

Location was great too — I used Uber to get to and from tourist destinations with no issues.

Between the views, the staff, and the fun activities, this place checked every box. We’d come back.

It got 4 stars because we didn’t get our Marriott Bonvoy points because they said we didn’t book through their platform. My husband got bit badly by mosquitos at the resort despite spraying his body with repellent. The last two days he was so itchy. We bought a package that included breakfast. The breakfast was lousy. The fruit wasn’t sweet, the pancakes were hard, the eggs were dry. I didn’t know you could screw up breakfast but they did.

The staff is the nicest people and the food is great. Maria, Emma and all the staff is very friendly and love their job to help us in any of our needs.
