Watch for hidden charges at end of your stay. Questionable billing tactics.
Pros:

An otherwise adequate stay was marred when at checkout the front staff tried to extract 40 euros gratuity. I was told (only when asked) that it was optional but customary in Milan, which is entirely false. It’s frankly ridiculous and insulting - especially in Italy! Hotel management claims that they started the new policy to compensate for quality service. My suggestion to them is to pay their team fairly so they don’t put the client and their staff in such an awkward situation to begin with.

A Truly Magical and Immaculate Hotel
Pros:

An exceptional hotel that exceeds expectations in every way. Perfectly located, with metro and tram stops directly outside, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored mansion that feels straight out of a fairytale. The themed rooms are elegant, immaculately clean, and serviced twice daily — a level of attention to detail that truly stands out. The staff are outstanding: warm, professional, and always attentive to every need. A truly memorable stay that I would highly recommend without hesitation.

A Fairytale Stay for Couples in Milan
Pros:

We stayed at Château Monfort in Milan as a couple, and the experience was truly memorable. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with a fairytale atmosphere, elegant décor, and a very romantic ambiance throughout the common areas. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well-designed, offering a calm retreat after exploring the city.
The staff were polite and professional, always willing to help, and the location is excellent—quiet yet very well connected to the city center. Breakfast was enjoyable, served in a charming setting that matched the overall character of the hotel.
Overall, Château Monfort is an ideal choice for couples looking for a romantic, stylish, and high-quality stay in Milan. We would gladly return.

Excellent value for near perfect 5 star hotel
Pros:

Really enjoyed a second stay in Chateau Monfort around Christmas time. The exuberantly decorated hotel has lovely Christmas decorations, fittingly also slightly over the top. They deliver a true five star experience for the price of a four star hotel (in Milano). The Spa is phenomenally nice and included in the room rate if you book on the hotel’s own website. The Mezzanotte lounge bar is expensive but very pleasant and did provide a complimentary Limoncello digestif as a nice gesture. Although this is somewhat unusual indeed, I was happy to sign for the 5 percent tip which had been included (proposed) on the hotel bill.

Discretionary tip charged despite explicit request to remove
Pros:

We had a very disappointing experience at check-out.

The hotel added a 5% “discretionary” tip on the total bill for our 3-night stay. This is not common practice in Italy, especially when the charge is meant to be optional. We had already left tips separately, yet this additional charge was still applied.

During check-out, we clearly asked for the discretionary tip to be removed and were told it would be taken off. Despite this, the hotel charged us anyway and did not release the full deposit, deducting the amount without our consent.

This made the charge feel mandatory rather than discretionary and the follow-up handling was careless and unprofessional. Transparency and respect for guests’ instructions were lacking.

It is unfortunate, as this overshadowed what was otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful Hotel. Great Staff. A five Star Winner in Milan.
Pros:

What a beautiful property with an equally great staff. From the reception team to the doormen to the breakfast staff, everyone was always friendly and welcoming. They made you feel like a valued guest. In a city with many big name hotels to choose from, the Chateau Monfort is an excellent value for the money with all the comforts, service and amenities you would expect from a five-star property that carries they Relais & Chateaux designation . We loved the decor and boutique feel of the hotel; it was an easy 20 minute walk into the historic center. Our standards are high when it comes to hotels and this hotel met them all!. I highly recommend the Chateau Monfort if you are planning a stay in Milan. You will not be disappointed.

Stylish Milan Stay Where Design Outshines Comfort
Pros:

Review – Château Monfort, Milan
Ambience and Location:
Château Monfort enjoys a very central location, about a twenty-minute walk from the Duomo, with a metro station conveniently situated right across from the main entrance – a clear advantage for exploring the city. The elegant building on Corso Concordia 1 stands directly next to the Opera San Francesco per i Poveri canteen, where long queues of people in need form daily, accompanied by a conspicuous police presence. The contrast between luxury and poverty is striking and thought-provoking.
Room:
We opted for an Executive Room upgrade, hoping for additional space, yet the room turned out to be noticeably smaller than expected – even by boutique-hotel standards. Approximately half of the area was occupied by the bed, shower, and bathroom, leaving very limited storage space.
There was no bathtub, only an oversized glass shower offering virtually no privacy. While the design visually enlarges the space, it is less comfortable for guests travelling together – one constantly bumps into the other. The small third-floor balcony is too narrow to be of practical use.
A clear reflection of the property’s philosophy: aesthetics take precedence over comfort. Everything is visually curated, but often at the expense of functionality. A curious contradiction in this approach is that the complimentary water is offered in plain Tetra Pak cartons rather than in glass bottles – a practical but visually inconsistent choice. A complimentary upgrade to a larger room was mentioned but never materialized. Overall, the room appeared attractive but lacked comfort – suitable perhaps for a solo traveller and a short stay rather than two guests over several days.
Service:
The staff were consistently friendly and attentive – particularly at reception and in the bar. Less pleasing was the housekeeping routine: after every cleaning, the furniture was reset precisely to its original position, regardless of how we had arranged it for our comfort.
Bar and Atmosphere:
The hotel bar is a genuine highlight – designed in a French Neo-Rococo or Louis XV style, reinterpreted through a modern boutique aesthetic. Visually stunning, though ergonomically challenging for guests with hip or back issues. The clientele consisted largely of younger visitors and typical “influencer” types, many of whom began recording themselves in the lobby upon arrival. The bartender deserves special mention: professional, attentive, and with an excellent sense for quality – his gin tonics were outstanding.
Conclusion:
The Château Monfort’s official website does not explicitly describe the property as a boutique hotel – an omission that might help manage expectations regarding room size and functionality.
In summary, this is a stylish and charming property that places great emphasis on visual design while clearly prioritising aesthetics over comfort. Ideal for design-conscious travellers and short city stays; less suited for longer visits, couples, or guests who value space and privacy – despite its undeniable charm and excellent location.

Superb hotel, with perfect connections in the Heart of Milan.
Pros:

Superb service from everyone at the hotel, but will call out Lara and Matteo who helped us with reservations for The Last Supper and some small items we requested for our room. Their service was friendly, efficient and worthy of note. Thank you to them both.

The Spa was superb in the hotel a tranquil and relaxing place to spend time.

Luxurious and Beautiful!
Pros:

Absolutely gorgeous and a spotlessly clean hotel. The lobby and common areas were glamorous and well appointed. Breakfast area and service were very well done
My only down side was we were in the Nutcracker room. Very whimsical and cute but only skylights. No windows to see out of and I don’t do well in closed in spaces. If you have any issues with claustrophobic feelings choose a room on a lower floor. Staff was gracious and professional. Great location.
