Very nice property, nice staff, but hotel needs an update. Things weren’t working properly like ceilings fan and wifi kept shutting off.
We were pleasantly surprised upon checking into Les Acacias. It was the only place we stayed at in this country that had 1. Warm water showers, and 2. Fresh fruit at breakfast. The free airport shuttle was a real bonus and all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a very large 1-bedroom apartment with nice views over the pool and sea. There was no problem with outside noise at all and we had a very restful sleep. The room was clean and comfortable however there were a few minor maintenance issues that needed taking care of. Our room had a kitchen but there were absolutely no utensils or other kitchen equipment, making it non-functional. There was a good internet TV in the bedroom, but oddly, nothing in the living room. The internet connection was solid, the best we experienced in Djibouti. The pool area was super nice – a shame we didn’t get a chance to use it. The buffet breakfast was fairly basic but very good, the best we had in Djibouti, with lots of fresh fruit and made to order omelets. Just 100m outside the hotel is a very good pizzeria – highly recommended!! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to other travelers wanting to escape the chaos of the central city.
Love the view, quiet and clean place. Staff are nice, helpful and professional. I will also looking forward to go back there.
The HIGH LIGHTS about this property would be the rooms with balconys, the Excellent outdoors seating space and my favorit being right by the water.
Cockroaches in the room. Dishes in the hallway for two days. Room was filthy. Shower was dirty and had calcium deposits caked over the handle. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I left after one night and will seek a refund for the entire stay.
This hotel could be so much better with a bit more attention. I stayed in two different rooms (one had roaches). Both bathrooms were very much in need of renovation. The shower was particularly poor. The bed was fine. By far, the best feature was the large screen TV that allowed you to use your Amazon Prime or Netflix account.
Breakfast was ok. They made me eggs and had continental breakfast type items.
I also stayed at the more expensive hotel 500 meters away (Kempinski). If all you want the room for is a place to sleep, Kempinski might not be worth the extra $100 USD. But factoring in breakfast, the hotel restaurant, spa, pool, etc. I thought it was definitely worth the extra money.
Apart from the bar, swimming pool, and sea view no other redeeming features. Broken shower taps, and toilet handles. Dim lighting. Far from the city centre. It charge about USD 150. You can find better hotels in the city centre.
We spent 6 days in Acacias and the highlights were definitely the courtesy of the staff and the pleasant premises of the hotel. Nice swimming pool, refined art decoration, pleasant sea view on the deck in ongoing construction.
Thanks to all staff for the kindness and hospitality.
Les Acacias was a great little oasis in Djibouti. Being able to come back to the calm pool area after being out all day was perfect. Rooms were in good shape and had decent wifi. The included breakfast was also pretty good. Be sure to say hi to Zeus the friendly pool dog!
We stayed for a week for the winter holiday in this hotel that is situated in the French area. You can walk to down town in about 45 minutes. The beach by the hotel is very dirty. You cannot swim there. Also in front of the hotel starts a very poluted street.
On the positive: The pool is clean and nice. The staff at the reception is very friendly and likes to help you where they can. The rooms and bathrooms are very big and comfortabel. On the negative side: The cleaning staff forgot always something. Toiletpaper, towells. All the time we had to ask for stuff.
The breakfast was ok. You can ask for eggs. A cook bakes them for you. We were twice in the restaurant. One time for diner and once for lunch. Everytime one or even two of the dishes couldn’t be ordered. The quality of the food was average.
We payed a big load of euro’s for one week. In our opinion that is a lot of money, too much for the experience we had. Obviously Djibouti is very, very expensive.
Simple but pleasant hotel. Pool area is on the small side but overall clean and well kept. Staff are very friendly and helpful!!
This is a well-appointed hotel at the far end of Heron district. You will need a taxi to get here, or it’s a long walk to the center. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with powerful AC. Each room has a small balcony. The hotel is on par with most 3-star hotels in North America (eg. Days Inn, Ramada):
Breakfast could have been better, and consists of many carbs. But, it did the job.
Pool is nice and refreshing. Service was excellent! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. My shuttle to the airport was late by 20 minutes, but this did not affect my flight as I was already early.
I spent 5 nights at Les Acacias Hotel and noted that their rooms are extremely large - with a lounge separate from bedroom, so you can watch TV in the lounge then retire to bed (or fall asleep in the couch)
The shower cubicles are a bit small, in fact the floor outside the shower cubicle gets badly wet when you shower.
About the food, well if you are vegetarian like me then the only meal you will enjoy is breakfast where you will find a few vegetarian options but not during lunch or dinner.
The hotel also offers Wi-Fi log-in credentials when you check in and the there is good connectivity in almost all areas of the hotel.
I'd advise travelers to ask for rooms overlooking the sea. Mine was overlooking the hotel backyard, so not a very pleasant sight when windows were opened.
During my stay, the swimming pool had been drained dry and was closed for renovations, therefore I never got to use it, but what I saw was a really deep heart-shaped pool!
The place was excellent as well as the staff
Les Acacias is a very good hotel and has a nice pool area. Everything in Djibouti is expensive, and you should reserve enough cash in USD or EURO for the whole duration of your stay. The hotel has card machines and ATMs, but in most cases they do not work. We were a group of seven people and some international credit cards worked, but some did not.
The hotel restaurant is good for breakfast, but if you have a chance to go out, I would recommend to go out for dinners. The pool area is nice and the bar serves cold drinks. The staff at the hotel are friendly. Rooms are nice, have a functioning AC and also a fan, if you don't want your room to be too cold. Taxis from the Airport to the hotel have standard rates for 2000 DJF and then some extra for luggage. The reception can also order taxis for you to travel to downtown or to the harbour and airport.
Djibouti is EXPENSIVE. Fortunately this hotel has a decent rate including a good spread for breakfast included in the rate. But the food and drinks menu, like pretty much anywhere else in Djibouti, is insanely expensive. Expect to pay US$7 for a beer and US$20 for your meal. The wifi is 3Mb/s so it's not bad, but spotty and keeps disconnecting. Rather buy a local SIM card from Djibouti Telecom where you can get LTE/4G speeds of up to 40Mbps.
The shower water has only one temperature, tepid, after leaving it running for a while, there is no choice for hot or cold, just one tap. I could feel the springs in my mattress which was not pleasant and the duvet inner lining must be some kind of recycled PET plastic because I sweated under the duvet, even with the aircon and fan running. Otherwise the rooms are clean and modern and the staff are cordial and professional to deal with.
It would nice if they included a kettle in the room for tea and coffee, but they don't.
I would like to express my appreciation to Mr. Orbis Mohamed of Les Acacias Hotel Djibouti. He solved few issues that I experienced during my stay in this hotel. He is very professional and helpful.

Spoke with guys like me staying here - business people. They all agree: nice hotel but services you get is like weather back home in Ireland, no forecast matches. Amazing sometimes, unexplainably bad other times. Rooms are surviveable, clean rooms? - dependes on your luck. But one best thing - The View!
The acacias is just like the porridge in goldilocks.....just right. You get what you pay for, but here you also have a relaxed ambience, smiling staff, affordable meals, and a real flexibility by the team to look after you. It is clean, safe and is 5 m from the ocean. Food is hot, well portioned and tasty, and service is excellent. What more do you need?
