Beautiful old heritage building. Nice to sit out on terrace with some tea. River and temple directly in front of property. Unfortunately the temple is very loud at night when they blast music through the speakers at about4.30-5am for a couple of hours. Staff are very friendly and helpful but with limited English. It is sort of like the Fawlty Towers of India - you just have to laugh.
The hotel rooms are nice and good but there is no restaurant to cater our immediate needs of food and beverages. Also there is no good eatery near by, as an alternate source. Had a quality sleep and bathrooms are clean and good. But for the tariff I paid I got only a non a/c room but due to the climate it was enough. Rooms are basic. They could have arranged electric kettle, coffee, tea and dairy whitener in the room for self making required beverage without waiting for long time to be served from their kitchen. We enjoyed our stay with all odds. Plenty of plants and trees surrounded the property makes it very green and cool. A small opening in front of the main building is apt for playing badminton leisurely. From the dining room we had hired a boat to go around the Vembanad lake. Boat jetty is very close by. Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate where we can hire for an economy ride. The staffs are well behaved. The owners are very pleasant and warm. Sure a nice place to stay when they improve the catering services. The antiquity of the buildings and rooms are very special and that is what attracted me to stay there.
Det var ett bra lågkostnadshotell, ligger nära sjön där man kan åka båt. Personalen var mycket trevlig, men rummen ganska sunkiga
A heritage property, but needs to go a long way in up keeping of the rooms and the overall property.
Not up to mark in any respect.
The experience was satisfactory. The staff were very nice and friendly. The feel and look of the property from outside was good enough but the interriors needs some maintainence. The rooms were well lit and spacious. Olden times furniture were used and it gave a different feel. If you need anything to eat or drink you have to tell them well in advance and it will be prepared for you . They do not have a full time restuarant or kitchen. The govt boat ride if very cheap and breath taking. The back waters are simply toooo good. Had enjoyed the stay and it was good enough for the money paid.
Through the hotel had friendly and welcoming staff, the bamboo cottages were not the best. Possums or some other rodents ran over the walls and roof all night, and I woke up to big black ants in the bed. having said that, South India is tropical and some wild life is to be expected. I think the rooms in the main house were much better.
Good stay. Should have a brochure to include "what to do at Kumarakom". This will get the guest focus on the utility of time. Quality of service very good.
Not good at all, Wi Fi was available only at the loby area and used to get interrupted by the staff, at night loby was closed and router was shut off. I got up at 3:30 AM and I wanted to go out for some walk but the home door was locked and no watch man was available, at 4:00 AM very high noise came from the near by Hindu Temple theen I climbed the door of the home and went to Temple where I visited it and came back at about 5:00 AM and found that the door still closed so I get in by the same way I got out, luckly no one saw me other wise I was going to be in trouble
Value for Money.
Wonderful heritage buildings on a lovely site. Very clean room. Bamboo cottages had no hot water. Food was cooked off site ( perhaps because it was off season ) but as such stone cold. Unwelcoming staff, though not rude. But the big turn off for us was the adjacent temple. The pooja is at evening and 4.30 A.M till 6.00 A.M. Unbelievably loud and invasive. Awful. We only lasted the one night out of three.
