Location!!!
The flowers. The room was amazing. Dinner was good.
The price!
Oh my gosh, what a treat it is to stay at Casa Gangotena. We (sadly) only stayed here one night on our way home from the Amazon, and our stay could have only been better if it were longer. The staff is welcoming and courteous, the rooms are clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We had drinks and snacks at the rooftop bar - some of the best cocktails we have had anywhere on the planet.
We left for the airport early in the morning (before 5am!) and they sent us on our way with a boxed breakfast, a really nice touch.
I will definitely stay here on our next trip to Quito!
Elegant and welcome respite after 5 days on a boat in the Galapagos. This is an unexpectedly beautiful hotel in the heart of Quito, and was a great jumping-off point for our ongoing journey to the cloud forest, which Maria Emilia De los Reyes from Metro Journeys did a wonderful job of coordinating.
Wonderfully updated classic grand hotel
Fantastic staff
Nothing not to like
We stayed several nights at Casa Gangotena as part of a larger Galapagos cruise package organized by Metropolitan Touring and had a wonderful experience! The hotel itself is gorgeous – just like so much of Quito’s historic center, it is a very well-preserved/updated colonial building. Its location could not be better – just opposite Plaza de San Francisco (in the heart of the old town) and featuring a rooftop with incredible views of the city. The décor is flawless, the food at the restaurant (where we ate breakfast every morning and also ordered room service) is delicious, the bar serves excellent cocktails, and the staff provides fantastic service. Our room was amazing – beautifully appointed, well-stocked with everything we needed, including a spacious bathroom with great shower pressure, strong wifi and a very comfortable bed. Perhaps our favorite part of our stay though was the view from our room windows, which looked right over the plaza and provided endless opportunities for people and scenery-watching. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Quito!
Everything
No hot water on the 26th . Apparently they run out when the hotel is full
Everything
Food is a little overcomplicated .
Beautiful building with great location
It was perfect
A few days in Quito before a trip to Galapagos. Fab hotel, wonderful room, but on the top floor. WE never use lifts if stairs are available and the staircase to Gangotena is a beautiful sweeping affair which demanded to be climbed! The rooms are very colonial ins style with very high ceilings which made a climb to the third floor seem more like five floors and, here's the crux, at 10,000' altitude that is really quite hard work. But it made us feel good, if a bit out of breath. The room was nice and the hotel facilities were good, but avoid strenuous exercise! The thing which really impresses is the location in the heart of Quito's World Heritage Site centre. it is fabulous. And a drink on the rooftop bar should not be missed.
Elegant, stylish, brilliantly located with high quality service. We loved staying here. This is a hotel which oozes old-fashioned charm and quality.
Beautiful boutique hotel overlooking the Plaza St Franscesco in the old town. The welcoming and helpful staff fall over backwards to make your stay memorable. Spacious, well appointed rooms with every modern facility you need to augment your stay. Excellent restaurant with generous breakfast offering and well prepared dinner menus using top end ingredients all expertly cooked and presented. Convenient for all the principal sights.
Exquisite historical building with excellent taste
The building and rooms are really nice. Dinner a bit pricey but good. Breakfast very good. General hotel service is okay. There isn’t much to (safely) do in Quito. You can walk a few blocks (hotel will show you where the police have it locked down and safe) to some churches, one small museum, and that is it. The museum (free with hotel) has local archaeology exhibits and is small but nice. Mostly I think visitors can skip Quito due to the safety concerns, unfortunately. If you do come here, a pro tip is that the best part is the 3rd floor bar with great views. The bar tender is super friendly and nice. He’ll take some great pictures for you with the city views in the background. The bar cocktails are very good and strong.
Beautiful hotel in an excellent location to see old town Quito. The rooms were lovely and the food was varied and delicious showcasing local favorites.
Everything was arranged beautifully by Anndy Males. All of the transfers were excellently arranged.
We are traveling with an upscale tour company and they were raving about the fact that this hotel is the best rated hotel in the city. It rated best by travel and Leisure and Condé Nast . My wife and I were excited about this hotel . We stayed at the Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco and it was amazing. I was really set up for disappointment and I got it !
What a let down . It could be the best here but the furniture and the one sink and dings on the cabinets are such a let down. The chair in the room is so old fashioned and even the drapes are not of upper quality.
We would never recommend this place. I called the front desk to ask how to turn the thermostat to “Heat”. I was told there is a portable plug in heater in the closet.
My expectations let me down, big time , with this place.
