Sir Alfred Munnings Hotel

I’ve just returned from my second stay at the Sir Alfred Munnings. Located in a lovely, quiet village, I was welcomed, treated very well throughout, and enjoyed my stay.

The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. We were out and about most of the time and just needed a place to sleep. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we all slept well. The breakfast was delicious and the portion sizes were generous (a bit too generous for some of us!). It’s located in a lovely quiet little village that we would have liked to see more of.

Great little pub. Wasn’t the cleanest but was acceptable. Food was good and breakfast was great.

Beautiful old country pub hotel in a gorgeous corner of Suffolk. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Bed was comfortable, shower worked well. Food was great. Service was quick and friendly. Would stay again .

A fabulous stay in this lovely country inn in a quiet village on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Perfectly located for exploring the Suffolk coast and countryside and the Norfolk Broads. A wonderful welcome from Mark and his team. Nothing was too much trouble and the lovely breakfasts set you up for the day. Great sized comfortable en-suite room. The pub is at the heart of the village community and is excellent value for money.

We were staying here whilst doing a long distance cycle route. Staff were very welcoming and hospitable. Great food. Clean room and good wifi.

Great staff and location for the Angles Way

What a hidden gem! Have just stayed here for 2 nights as I was working in the area at a festival and Mark the owner from the outset was so helpful with directions/ my late check in and kept me updated with pictures on how to enter the hotel. The room was cozy and did just the job for my 2 night work stay. Also the breakfast and coffee… top notch!!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying one night at the Sir Alfred Munnings Hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. From arrival to departure, the service was of a consistently high standard. A brilliant 6 night stay at the Sir Alfred Munnings Hotel. Located in a peaceful village location, and nothing was too much trouble.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, would happily recommend, and I fully intend to stay again.

All the staff friendly and helpful. I liked the character beams and wall beams in the period property.
Lovely huge comfy bed.
My arthritic hands could barely turn the bathroom sink taps on and off as the taps were very stiff.
I was cold in the night and early morning and wished there was a room heater I could control myself.
The toilet flush took a long time to fill.
But on the whole a pleasant stay, thank you very much.

A very last minute booking on my behalf that once realised by the hotel was accepted and accommodated.
The manager was exceptionally helpful during our short stay and we had two wonderful meals here. Thank you. We hope to return again in the future.

Thanks Mark for your usual excellent hospitality! Superb breakfast as ever. A proper English pub, not luxurious - more cosy and hospitable. Good food, comfortable rooms.

Another review of this delight in Mendham, a very convenient and pleasant village pub well situated for anyone working in the east of Suffolk/ Norfolk. Great breakfast, great host, pleasant atmosphere, good evening meals. Very good value for money.
