Initially welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic.
No hot water and the night manager was an idiot. Left a day early and have not heard from the owner about the promised refund.
Location for town is excellent.
Room was fairly big
Squeaky bed,
Tv had no channels.
The friendly staff and facilities
Nothing
Finished Offas Dyke in Chepstow and this was great value for a single person
Great location, large clean rooms and friendly staff
Only improvement would be adding a fridge to the room
Location
Arrived day one (Friday) to be allocated room 21, this room is only fit for one person, tiny room, home made wardrobe (would hang 2 items) reception staff (lucy) said this was a standard fit wardrobe in ALL the rooms (not true). The room was red hot, with no respite when you opened the window onto the back of the main building and over the kitchen. We requested a fan and after someone hunted in other rooms, they appeared with the smallest decks fan that was completely useless. In the end we requested another room.
We then moved to room 16, this was better than the previous room, shower head would not stay up in the mounting, hand held to have a shower ( which was luke warm), it could do with blind to cover the window as you are silhouetted.
Day two (Saturday) no hot water at all, spoke to reception, explained we were here for another 3 nights, the receptionist explained the boiler was not working ( this explains the luke warm shower the previous night) and they did not know if they could get a plumber out, Caroline offered us our third room.
We packed up our things again and moved to room 2a. This family room was actually a Fire Escape route for the first floor, with a room key on the wall in the corridor. This did not make us feel comfortable at night. The bathroom has a drain issue as it smells
all the time, the toilet flush works when it wants to. I understand this is an old building, but there is no excuse for the floor boards creaking as much as they do ( it is excessive), the telephone does not work.
All the rooms look tired and shabby,
Although you are paying a hotel rate, dont expect your room to be serviced, cleaners will empty your bins and thats it, our beds where not made, towels are not changed. The shower mat was on the bathroom floor for 3 days, which means the bathroom wasn't even cleaned.
This is not acceptable when you have payed over £500 for a four night stay in a supposed 3 star hotel advertised on booking.com.
Location and parking
I do not write negative reviews but in this instance I think I have to. The room was tired with wafer thin walls and there was no hot water in the morning for a shower so we had a cold water strip wash.
I had written to the hotel manager via email and through booking.com to give them chance to explain but I did not get a response. The room we stayed in, in my opinion is not worth anywhere near the money we paid
This was our second stay. Every member of staff contributed to the overall feeling of being welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was more than adequate for our needs and breakfast was excellent and served in a timely manner. The friendly atmosphere, generated by staff and locals alike, created a relaxed ambience. Chepstow is a great place to visit and 'launching off point' for touring and the hotel's close proximity to the train station is a big plus for travellers like us, who enjoy leaving the car behind. The decor may not be to everyone's taste but we love the warmth and cosiness of the Beaufort Hotel. Evening's spent down by the river, strolling around the castle area - bliss! We love it and are glad to take the opportunity to say thanks again to our hosts!
Great location in centre of Chepstow and friendly, helpful staff.
Room was tiny and like a sweat box in the very hot weather. Bathroom was also tiny. Bed was very uncomfortable as I could feel the springs in the mattress.
Local clean
Shower not too good
Friendly Staff, very helpful
Plug sockets were not close to a mirror, hard to dry your hair and do your make up. One set of thr plug sockets were so close to the shelf I couldn’t use them
