A clean comfortable hotel for a few nights in Exeter.
Pros:

Good breakfast choices and fresh coffee!

Cons:

Our attic room, while of decent size, was configured so that much of the space was not usable. Having a bench for suitcases would help.

Pros:

A commodious room and charmingly appointed with a spacious bathroom. All the accoutrements we needed for a comfortable home base for several days as we explored Devon by foot. We were exhausted from our walking and ate three meals at the hotel restaurant - which we never do! All were delicious. The staff was extremely solicitous and remembered our dietary restrictions and preferences!

Wish we could have stayed longer in Exeter!
Pros:

Outstanding breakfast in a lovely room! Super helpful staff, comfortable room with many snacks, coffee/tea. Lovely bathroom. Steep street to/from hotel--be ready! Thank you for calling a cab for us to get to train station!

Cons:

more secure left luggage place.

Incredibly welcoming - a great stay
Pros:

I loved my stay at City Gate and will be coming back. I was welcomed by Kirsty on the phone and when I arrived and felt like she was genuinely pleased to see me - and my dog Ziggy. He got a bag of delicious-looking treats when we arrived too. Everyone was helpful and the atmosphere was great. Thanks.

EXCEPTIONAL IN EVERY WAY
Pros:

Excellent in every way, actually exceptional is more appropriate. Very friendly, helpful, efficient staff (all of them), brilliant room with thoughtful touches, excellent decor both inside and outside. Can't recommend it high enough.

Would definitely stay again
Pros:

Complimentary flapjack and port in the room, mini bar and snacks-although not used weren’t expensive. Iron provided on request. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast

Cons:

The 30 minute wait for someone to check us in and the toilet being so close to the sink, was a bit of a squeeze

Thank you very much for an enjoyable stay
Pros:

Wonderful location and staff were very friendly and helpful. We also had a very delicious lunch in the dining room.

Cons:

We did find the climb up to the top floor with our bags a little challenging. However the lovely quiet room, wonderful shower and bathroom and also the view more than made up for it.
