This little gem exceeded my expectations in every way. I booked a multi night stay for a last minute business commitment, and my partner travelled with me. We were both extremely pleased with the setting, the set up, and amenities. Moreover, the staff the difference here. Always greeted with a smile, always going the extra mile. As an example, we had to put a hold on extending our own room one night, and I had to get another colleague in very last minute. Both were responded to with a "no problem, we'll sort that out for you." As someone who stays in hotels a lot, this was an extremely relaxing stay. The room featured a lot of small details done right. It was quiet at night and the pub portion was pleasantly lively during the days and evenings. I would definitely stay here again.
The only thing that didn't work during our stay was the coffee machine, and that was immediately fixed AND we were treated to free coffees downstairs.
Location very good for our needs.
Surprised the breakfast turned up rather cold. Muffin under poached egg still frozen in centre hence egg luke warm. No staff available to report this to.
Great staff very friendly
Needs more plugs by bed
From moment we arrived Natalie and her team were friendly, and welcoming.
The pub / hotel oozes character, decor is lovely, and everywhere is clean. Plenty of parking and lots of atmosphere.
We ate in the pub both nights, and breakfast was included, and the food was wonderful.
No complaints whatsoever.
Great welcome , very accommodating when we arrived late and wanted a meal. Food was great, fantastic breakfast and all staff were friendly and helpful
A lovely room, large comfortable bed, well equipped bathroom with walk-in shower. On the hottest day of the year so far, air conditioning in the bedroom was an unexpected bonus. And the staff really made the stay, every single member of the team gave 110%.
Car park is supposed to be for those staying overnight, but with no enforcement it was a bit of a free for all. I find chargeable in-room snacks a bit tacky, especially when more expensive than in the bar downstairs. At the nightly rate, I think Youngs could throw in a bottle of mineral water.
Very friendly staff. Good wine list and excellent food. There was a nice atmosphere.

Excellent food, and a very nice room
The AirCon unit leaked. However, the staff did everything they could, provided fans and apologised.
The property and the staff were welcoming and took really good care of us.
Everything was good.
Clean
Checkout was 11am but there were cleaners hoovering at 10am which was disruptive and made me feel a bit rushed.
Huge very comfy bed and pillows and well equipped bathroom with an excellent shower
Would like to have had at least one drawer especially beside the bed and in the dressing table. We have stayed at the Dukes Head many times before and have always enjoyed the delicious breakfasts. This time my husband didn’t think the quality of the bacon was of the usual high standard and was streaky rather than back bacon. Also the baked beans were only just warm
Atmospheric building, nice flagstone flooring
