RIU Hotels are a class in their own right
Pros:

My wife and I had a fabulous time at Riu Palace Palmeras - it was a last minute 10-day booking - the weather did not disappoint. The hotel & staff were at the top of their game - special thanks to our room maid and Antonio one of the table waiters - the food was stand out excellent with plenty of choices & all freshly cooked - the location was superb with easy access to beach & bus services - entertainment was great - if you are looking for an All-Inclusive Adults Holiday Hotel then I would strongly recommend this hotel as well as the RIU chain throughout

Early February Visit
Pros:

All the staff were absolutely amazing. Hotel was absolutely spotless throughout. Drink selection was fine. No problems getting a sun bed after breakfast. We only used the buffet bar and the selection of food was similar to all the other Rui hotels that we have visited. I would recommend a high floor room for the view and the evening sun. (Room 713 was absolutely perfect for us). On the negative side there was no animation team and this is the first Rui hotel that I have ever visited without one. The entertainment quality was poor with the exception of the Tina Turner tribute act that at least put some effort into their performance and didn't just stand there in the centre of the stage. Late night food in the 24 hour bar was terrible. I would have liked to have been able to use my fire stick but the HDMI port on the back of the TV was inaccessible and the nearest plug was about 12' away. It would be nice if installed smart televisions so at least you could use you tube as I have experienced in other hotels. we are late 60's early 70's so not party animals but found this hotel very boring in comparison to other Rui resorts. Would I return? Yes but not at this time of year.

Great hotel. Highly recommend
Pros:

Great hotel run by very professional staff. The choice of food is amazing and never the same from one night to the next. The rooms are extremely roomy and exceptionally clean. The cleaning staff were always flexible to clean the room when convenient for us. A small issue with some guests reserving the best loungers by the sunny side of the pool. The main restaurant lighting is overly bright in the evening so preferred the outdoor part of the restaurant.

Lovely Week at Riu Palmeras with a Few Minor Niggles
Pros:

We’ve just returned from a lovely week at Riu Palmeras, and overall the hotel exceeded our expectations. The cleanliness is outstanding — our room was spotless every day, and the gardens were beautifully maintained. We also loved being able to sit outside for every meal thanks to the outdoor heaters, which made breakfast, lunch, and dinner comfortable and relaxed. The food offered plenty of choice and was always fresh. A special mention must go to Luciano, who greeted us warmly at every meal and made dining feel genuinely welcoming. He never rushed us even if one of the last to leave in the evening.

The bar staff were friendly, and table service was a nice touch. Our room was modern and tidy, and although we initially had only one pillow, reception sorted it quickly. The included minibar in the all‑inclusive package was a great bonus. Around the pool, we never struggled to find a sunbed and ended up using the same spot all week without needing to reserve. Good mixture of sunbeds in the shade and a good mix in the sun. The heated pool felt cool at first but lovely once you were in. The location is ideal for both the Yumbo Centre and the beach, and we enjoyed a great loop walk down the steps to the beach and back up through the streets.

The evening entertainment was varied throughout the week, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. If you happen to stay when Gimme Gimme or the Tina Turner tribute perform, they are absolutely worth seeing. They were energetic, fun, and really added to the atmosphere.

There were a few small negatives. Breakfast could do with an extra toaster to ease the queues. As British guests, we did find it a little difficult to strike up conversations, as the hotel is predominantly German. Although restaurant service was generally excellent, there were a couple of occasions where we waited longer for drinks while guests who arrived after us were served first. We also had one moment where we began to sit at a table, only for another couple to sit down at the same time and effectively take it, leaving us to find another spot despite being there first.

Because of the quieter social atmosphere for English‑speaking guests, we agreed that we’d return as part of a group rather than as a couple, as it would make the evenings feel less isolated.

Despite these minor issues, we had a fantastic stay. The cleanliness, friendly staff, great food, varied entertainment, and perfect location made it a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, and we would happily return — especially with friends.

Overall good but things to be aware of.
Pros:

If a hotel is as I would expect I generally do not write reviews but there were a few thing I think could make the experience better.
First off there were lots of things to praise
The staff were very good
It was even my birthday while I was there and wine was put in my room despite menot informing anyone.
The hotel and room were exceptionally clean and food was ok. Very similar every night but with so much choice there was always something for us and it was typical AI choice.
A few things to be aware of
The rooms are ok, clean, quite well equipped but are on the small side. The higher floors are the sea view rooms but be aware that technically you face and can see the sea but there are roads and buildings in between. Lower room numbers, probably 01 to 19 get the afternoon sun. Higher numbers are in the shade after lunch..
The pool is lovely and is obviously heated.which is good during the cooler months.
The biggest issue for us was sunbeds,
A smaller issue was the lack of any cushions which I would expect in this level of hotel.
The main issue was the reserving of sunbeds, slightly different with this hotel as the root cause is not lack of them but the fact more than half of them are in the shade leading to towels being left. You either have to do the same or be prepared to move through the day. It is mostly caused by tall palm trees everywhere. It is difficult as these are certainly pleasing to the eye and excellent landscaping. This maybe less of a problem when the sun is higher in summer.
One last thing to be aware is the courtesy rooms the offer if you have a pick after checkout are just shower rooms.A good service for free but. I would rather pay a fee for late checkout.

Nice
Pros:

The hotel was nice, clean, and had friendly staff. The food was excellent, and the outdoor area was lovely. It was stated that there was a gym, and there was one. However, it would have been nice to have some weights of some kind. This is perhaps just nitpicking.

Great hotel
Pros:

Excellent hotel. Fantastic staff who were friendly, helpful, efficient and a credit to the hotel and the Riu group. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained the gardens were immaculate. The wine was not particularly good and should be improved in a hotel of this quality. The area was not to our liking as very commercialised and built up. Nowhere for quiet walks.

Lovely hotel
Pros:

We have just returned from a week in this lovely hotel. Hotel and grounds absolutely spotless. Food was exceptionally good and lots of choice every day. We tried the Krystal restaurant which again we enjoyed the only thing we would say is that it would be nice to have some background music playing both in the Krystal and in the main restaurant

Drinks were good choice. I did enjoy the cava and dry white wine but would like to see a bit more choice with the wine selection. There was only one choice of red and rose and two for white. Coffees were also lovely especially the Bailey's coffee. Snacks available all day at the snack bar and discovered that late evening they have food in the lobby bar not that we had any apart from returning the night of the white party

The white party was held at the riu gran canaria and transport laid on. This was a brilliant night and we thoroughly enjoyed it

Entertainment that we saw was very good in the evenings. Although was quite chilly in the entertainment area but we soon discovered the blankets. Service was very good all round.

Room

We were on the 4th floor and had a lovely sea view and across the dunes. The room was lovely again exceptionally clean. My only complaint was that the bed was extremely hard. However I reported this to reception who then arranged to have some blankets put on to try and make it softer.

The hotel itself is in a lovely location a short walk away from the beach and various shopping centres.

Pool area

Again exceptionally clean. We did find people put their towels down very early in the best spots as due to all the palm trees there is limited sun. It is very annoying when they put their towels down and then don't appear until the afternoon. Might be worth doing as they do in other hotels if you aren't on your sunbed and it's been over an hour that the towels get removed. We also found the sunbeds to be very uncomfortable again. For a 5 star hotel you would hope they would be a bit more comfortable.

We came away last minute for a week of sun and relaxation and to explore the resort. The temperature during the day was in the low twenties and a bit chilly in the evenings which we expected.

We had a lovely week at this hotel. If you want lovely food (a big thank you to the chefs for making this all delicious and I have to say this is the first hotel and I've been to many where the food was still hot on my plate when I got back to my table. Excellent service by all staff and a hotel that is spotlessly clean you won't go wrong with this one.

Thank you riu palace palmeras we will be returning next year😁
