Aldeia da Fonte Hotel

Beautiful location on the dramatic coast outside of Lajes. Hotel poorly maintained. When we arrived, neither of our rooms had hot water. Front desk staff lackadaisical and unconcerned. Had no internet for over 24 hours. Rude restaurant staff but the food was good.

It’s such an enchanting place to stay with magical pathways and stone steps weaving between the scattered hotel rooms, the restaurant, the swimming pool and rocky sea access. It was wonderful to explore the grounds and to clamber over rocks to reach the sea bathing areas. The restaurant served some of the best food we had on our travels around The Azores.

However the rooms need complete renovation. The first room we were offered (a deluxe) was like a dungeon with the remnants of a waste repair immediately outside. We asked for an alternative and were shown to and accepted the only room available. The room smelt strongly of mildew, there was an ant trap in the wardrobe, the radiator had been removed from the bathroom and only the pipes remained, the fan didn’t work and there was a strange little door. Fortunately the bedlinen and towels were fresh and clean. The location was quite isolated so that if you don’t have a hire car you can’t even get to a supermarket or alternative restaurants.

We spent a week in The Azores, travelling between four islands and that room was the only bad element of the holiday. Hopefully the hotel will be renovated in the future as it has so much potential to be an amazing hotel and we’d love to come back to enjoy this magical place.

Gutes Restaurant, tolle Lage.

Die Anlage ist zwar schon älter, aber dass die Zimmer in verschiedenen Häusern untergebracht sind, hat irgendwie seinen Charme (ca. 4 Zimmer/Haus). Unser Zimmer war sehr groß und hatte Zugang zu einer kleinen Veranda. Es gibt einen Zugang zu einer Meeresbucht von dem man entweder über eine Leiter ins Meer kommt oder hineinspringt. Da hier nur Hotelgäste hinkommen, ist es sehr ruhig. Es gibt auch einen eigenen Pool, der allerdings von der Hotelanlage etwas weiter entfernt liegt (man muss ein paar Minuten hingehen), aber einen sehr schönen Blick auf das Meer liefert.
Von der Hotelanlage aus kann man zu einer Platzform hinabgehen, wo man sehr schön auf das Meer blicken kann und am Abend unter Mondschein gemütlich verbleiben kann.
Uns hat das Ambiente sehr angesprochen, man hört beim Einschlafen das Meeresrauschen und es nisten sehr viel Gelbschnabelsturmtaucher dort (und ihren lustigen Rufen lauschen).

Hotel parfait avec possibilité de profiter du restaurant sur place. Literie un peu trop dure à mon goût.
La piscine naturelle est facilement accessible et le lieu est agréable

Le site qui est magnifique

Seulement la situation géographique, en bord de falaise.

Le cadre sublime avec piscine et accès à l’océan, le personnel sympathique, le restaurant avec de bons plats.

Tout ici est fait pour apprécier la nature qui entoure l hôtel.
Les chambres sont très confortables. Le restaurant très bon et très agréable.

Het restaurant voor lunch + diner is heel goed!

Die Lage und Größe des Hotels ist toll. Das Hotel liegt über dem Atlantik, man hat einen tollen Blick und eine gute Ausgangsposition, um die Insel zu erkunden. Es gibt mehrere Häuser, die auf dem Hotelgelände verteilt stehen, das hat ein bisschen etwas von einem dörflichen Charakter.
Das Essen im Restaurant und auch das Preis/Leistungsverhältins waren sehr gut.

If you like dated rooms, overgrown plants and poor maintenance you will love this place. This place must have been something to see ten years ago, but sadly, now it is dilapidated. Our rooms had cracks in the walls, sink stopper would not work, fawcet would not switch to shower mode. A safe in one room but not the other. The ground are not kept at all, leaves everywhere and plants taking over. Non functioning fountains everywhere. Getting to the pool is a nightmare and not worth because of dirt and broken tiles. The only saving grace at this hotel was the restaurant, atmosphere and staff at the restaurant were great.
