I have grown hesitant about visiting Bali because of the congestion and heavy traffic. Discovering Munduk — a part of Bali I had never even heard of (and I’m Indonesian!) — was therefore such a pleasant surprise.
I chose to celebrate my birthday here with my two sons, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of Bali experience I had been missing. The hotel is tranquil and beautifully preserved. On clear days, the view from the infinity pool overlooking the valley, with the ocean in the distance, is simply breathtaking.
Our suite villa with a private jacuzzi was spacious, clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. What truly stood out, however, was the service. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and both restaurants served excellent food. Do try Warung Bongkot for authentic Balinese cuisine — it is well worth it. There are also many activities and trekking options available, and Handara Golf nearby for those who enjoy a round in a stunning setting.
I highly recommend Munduk Moding for its infinity pool views, peaceful surroundings, and consistently warm, luxurious service.
GReat activities. OUr favourite was a cooking class .We learned about all the herbs and local vegetables . We made sambal and chicken with cassava leaves steamed in bamboo . Dessert was bananas in tapioca dumplings. Sumadi spoke English well and Dadong stoked the fires and they both showed us how to make yellow paste the Balinese way . THey watched over us chopping and sautéing in big old pans on the fire.
We then enjoyed the meal we had made .It was delicious! And they sent us the recipes and photos of us at work to remind us of all the fresh spices. They were excellent teachers.
Thank you so much Sumadi and Dadong. We had a wonderful session with you, learning about the wholesome ingredients, preparing the food, and cooking it on an open wood fire as in traditional Balinese fashion. We have lots of great photos and we then enjoyed the delicious food, looking out over the valley, the jungle and hills to the coast beyond. We thoroughly recommend this session with you to all the guests! Best wishes and thanks to you both. John and Mary.
Mr.Arick and the other staff were very kind and cheerful. The breakfast was delicious and the view was great. I'd like to come back someday.
We had a good experience, and Arik was very helpful throughout. He was kind, professional, and made everything easy and smooth for us.
A really excellent five night stay in two different villas with hot tubs and swimming pools. Spacious, very comfortable with fine views. Nice choice of restaurants. Very kind and attentive staff. I would particularly like to thank Leo, Yuli and Aditya for making my visit a very special time. I look forward to meeting them again when I return.
Best view, best vibes, staff so helpfull
I had a beautiful stay at this stunning hotel! It’s the perfect escape from the busy parts of Bali, very peaceful, surrounded by nature, and ideal for truly unwinding.
The villas are spacious and very private, and the infinity pool overlooking the mountains is absolutely breathtaking, especially in the morning mist.
The food was consistently good with nice local options, and I really enjoyed the horse riding and coffee plantation experience both worth doing.
Service was warm and attentive throughout. I left feeling completely recharged and would definitely love to return.
The highlight of my trip was a massage from a 90 year old Balinese healer. His strength, humility and ethics reinforced all that is good and pure in the world of ancient knowledge systems held in quiet remote villages in Munduk. This man who was nameless (in the spa menu) had the most amazing healing hands and showed me the meaning of graceful aging and being committed to one's craft. The coffee plantation on which this resort is based is also very sensitively cultivated. The food at the main restaurant is amazing as are some of the older more experienced staff who respect one's privacy and do NOT hover around. The views from my Room 14 were outstanding - with mist floating in and flanked by robust bamboo trees. Munduk has a deep and profound charm and this hotel is a sensitive articulation of its mountain and valley terrain. They organized a great TwinFalls trip and one to Ulun Danu - which is a MUST VISIT temple on the lake.
Breathtaking views. Delicious food! The staff is next level. Very unique landscape and architecture. Beautiful 10/10!!!!
Great spot in Bali mountains about 3 hours ($56 car service) from airport. Beautiful views down valley to ocean on a coffee plantation. Rooms were roomy villas with outdoor spas, living area and huge bathrooms and closets. Massages well priced at $40-45 for 60 min (and better than ones we twice as much for at another venue). Fireplace in room - and yes, it was cool enough to use, but still shorts, and shirt weather with a wind breaker in the evenings - refreshing change from normal heat and humidity. We'd rate the restaurant here a 4.2 on the Google scale - not our favorite, but half the restaurant price of Nandini Jungle (4.7) - rooms though were twice as expensive. We enjoyed both properties - Munduk Moding Plantation wins for great villas, view, spa treatments, villa jacuzzi and hotel pools. Nandini Jungle wins for restaurant and Jungle venue and room value. We'd go back to both.
Our group of 18 chose this as our last stop of a wonderful holiday in Indonesia . We only stayed 2 nights & everyone wished for more time. We stayed in an amazing, huge villa with our own infinity pool, jacuzzi & most importantly, our butler Leo. He was so friendly & accommodated our every wish. All of the staff were exceptional.
The hotel has a beautiful setting in the middle of a coffee plantation
The resort is quiet and beautiful with many daily complimentary and paid activities. The grounds are lush and peaceful. The resort was my favourite stay in Bali. The food was excellent and the staff were wonderful, especially Dipa and Ranti. The Infinity pools were such a nice place to cool down and view the jungle and ocean. I would stay here again.
This was truly the best resort experience of my life. Arik and Putra took such great care of us throughout our stay. They were always attentive, thoughtful, and incredibly detail-oriented, which made our 3-day trip completely smooth and stress-free. Thanks to them, everything went perfectly. The overall experience at this resort was amazing, and we would absolutely love to come back again.
Great cooking class experience as I visited for the day. We cooked 3 courses and ate our lunch in this amazing outdoor spot within the resort.
They are great cooks and so helpful! Thank you!
Very nice experience with Sumadi and Dadong! Nice guidance and super friendly people! Nice food cooked in the end! I liked it very much!
I had a wonderful stay at Munduk Moding Resort with my girlfriend. From the very start, the level of service and attention to detail was excellent. We arrived very late in the evening and were able to arrange a car with Aditya to pick us up and drive us up to the resort through heavy rain, fog, and difficult driving conditions. Aditya was an excellent, safe, and friendly driver who greeted us and gave us recommendations along the way.
The resort itself is beautiful, even during the rainy season. On clear days we could see far into the surrounding valleys and the ocean as well. The villa we stayed in was surrounded by natural beauty and felt extremely private and calm both inside and out. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and comfortable, with a beautiful view and wonderful bathroom space. The cleaning staff were excellent -- it seemed like every time we had left for an activity or meal they came through to tidy or close/open the curtains.
The restaurant was so great, and we enjoyed breakfast every day and also had dinner there during our stay. We looked forward to being greeted by Dipa and his basket of Balinese cakes/breads every morning as he checked on our experience so far.
Finally, we had a great array of activities to participate in during our stay. We took advantage of the on-site padel court and played with some amazing staff (Tuadi, Bastian, Gere). Definitely was a highlight of our trip as we kept going back each day to see them again and get some exercise in! Other activities we participated in were a plantation and coffee tour, a cooking class, and dry sauna.
Overall, I highly recommend staying at the Munduk Moding resort. It was a great experience and I can't wait to return, thank you!
I really enjoyed staying at this nature-friendly accommodation. The pool was especially wonderful, and having a jacuzzi made the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks to Mahendra’s excellent care and attention, I was able to spend a truly happy and memorable day
Just finishing our stay in our private villa, swimming pool and jacuzzi,up in the dreamy hills of the Moding plantation.
What luxury with our own private Butler,Leo who looked and took care of us so well. Also a special mention for Mahan. No request was too much.
The restaurants served delicious food, special mention to Artini and Risky,Nia.
All the staff were exceptional ,kind and considerate.
The signature massage was superb and relaxing.
Yoga teacher was so sweet and calm.
We will miss this treasure and cannot recommend it enough, truly a luxurious resort.
This eco resort and coffee plantation in Northern Bali is a wonderful retreat with gorgeous views, spacious rooms and super attentive staff. Our butler, Arick, was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
