The property itself was in the perfect spot. 3 minute walk to the market and restaurants. The only downside is you don’t get a comforter on the bed, only sheets. There’s a thick wool blanket in the closet but it would have been nice to have a comforter on the bed. The bed itself was large but very hard. Also, maybe this was just because of the location of our room, but we would kill at least 15 mosquitos every time we came back to our room
😀 The only positive to this hotel is Pin one of the assistant managers. She tried to help as much as possible.
☹️ As other reviewers have written this hotel is tired beyond belief. We were allocated a deluxe room & there was an overwhelming smell of sewer from the shower drain. We were told one hour to repair but after one & half hour we asked to change room. After another hour we moved to different room. First problem safe not working. Then my wife tried to have a shower, the top half collapsed down, electric shower ! It was then repaired but unable to use as filler drying. No shower for me !! Water then kept stopping working at various occasions meaning intermittent showers. Water pump busted !,
We had been touring Thailand for a couple of weeks before arriving at this place. It was considerably more expensive than most other places but with far less quality.
Asked to speak to the owner bur they refused to discuss & would not offer any compensation.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE IT IS ATROCIOUS !!
This beachfront property is the perfect escape for a truly laid-back vacation. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, and the friendly staff made me feel completely at ease. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a relaxing atmosphere.
The good. The staff are great and the location terrific. Very nice to be on the beach and the pool next to the beach. Food I had was very good.
The bad. Best to called the place tired and wore out. The hot water didn’t work in the shower but they did fix it when asked. The furniture and room needs a good makeover and upgrade. There is no phone or TV in the room. There is no where to sit only a little stool next to a very small working area. My biggest concern was the noise from the van/ bar next door. Very loud and never seemed to be quiet until 11:30 or 12. Not a problem if you are up partying. Not a place to sleep. I would have gone to another hotel after the first night but I had paid for 4 nights.
I do not think the good outweighs the bad.
I would not recommend this hotel and definitely not stay here again
My 3rd time back...just love it!!!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also have an incredible view of the bay behind the hotel and walking distance.
The hotel staff was very nice but for 2 days they did not clean our room. I asked after the forst day but they still did not.
Besides this it was very nice stay
Lovely friendly atmosphere everyone made us so welcome really made our stay in Samui absolutely perfect. Another great thing was the location we loved everything was just walking distance and also the view of the sea from our room. we hope to come back again some time in the future.
Location is really good, not far from the airport, close to markets, restaurants and bars etc. Bed was comfy, pillows were superb. A little run down, but they are in process of updating. Staff were all brilliant.
Great little property at the end of Fisherman’s Village so it’s quiet. Right on the beach. Very nice and personable owners. Would definitely recommend.
The staff was helpful, but the property has not been updated in 50 years. It was relatively clean but the holes in the screen windows were concerning
Real disappointment and I don't like writing negative reviews. We had booked the 2-bedroom room for 3 nights but stayed only one, for many reasons.
First, the online photos seem to be outdated. The furniture is not in a good state, the bathroom is really reduced to a minimum. Shampoo, shower gel and conditioner provided, but in jugs so mosquitoes float dead in them and the conditioner could not even be poured as it had obviously sat there for too long. The room was invaded by mosquitoes. The towels had big holes in them and the sheets were stained.
The pool is also getting old, visibly patched but definitely not sea water.
The beach is not one... we wouldn't swim there as sewage pipes seem to get right into the water.
We decided to leave after one night without discussing the non refundable policy, but the manager had the non decency to 1. Not ask why we were leaving so soon (did he really care?) 2. Make us pay for breakfast composed of 4 pieces of toast and an apple juice (some might find it normal, I personally don't!).
Fantastic location but lacks the finishing touches.
Quite nice hotel, a bit overpriced compared to their locations on Ko Samui. Decent pool. Good location for fisherman’s village. Noisy bars until late with karaoke across the street
If you're expecting a 5 star hotel - this isnt it nor does it pretend to be. But, it's the friendlist Hotel we've ever stayed at. Owners live on-site and can't help enough - just like staff. It's an old Resort at the quite end of Fisherman's villiage but only a 10 minute leisurely walk to the Market street past lots of great places to shop and eat. It has a great pool which overlooks the ocean. Rooms are basic, but cleaned daily, our air con and fan worked well and were new. There was lots of hot water in the shower. The beach seems to change from pretty good to not so good depending on the tides. The Bar was open with a great bar tender. We had breakfast daily at the Hotel - but you had to tell them you wanted breakfast. We also ate breakfast at the Hut 30 seconds away as well as wonderful inexpensiveThai food. All of which can be delivered to your room or the pool.
Highly recommended for a family or those just wanting to have fun & join in.
Good location, at end (or beginning) of Bophut strip. Quiet, rooms face towards beach (ours looked directly onto pool). - beach was beyond that. On-site bar with drinks available all day (though they are cheaper & better value at ‘The Hut’ over the road or even cheaper at 7-Eleven & great fresh fruit smoothies (50 baht) from the lady in the cart opposite the bigger 7-Eleven (with car parking at front). Air-con not working when we arrived, reported it & they sorted it straight away.
On arrival the price we were quoted by booking.com only applied if you paid cash - additional charges apply for card payments; this wasn’t explained in advance. Could do with a bit of money spending on it, old patio doors/main doors, child-like hair dryer with one temperature … scalding hot. Poolside chairs are dated as are the beach loungers which take a bit of working out. Holes in the poolside umbrella’s which are a bit tatty. Family appear to live on site (which can be seen as good & bad), their things are all around - don’t think they mind your children playing with their things, but also they use the same facilities (pool, bar etc.), not sure whether the seating area to side of reception was for them or guests.
You find yourself at this place on the word of a buddy, who's chummy with the Canadian who runs the joint. You're not exactly solo; you've got your posse of three, and together, you stumble into what can only be described as the epitome of an un-hotel. The kind of place Hemingway himself might've nodded approvingly at. Forget the sanctity of solitude in your room, glued to the screen or harassing room service. Here, life orbits a magnificent bar, where Pu, the bartender, isn't just slinging drinks but serving up introductions, turning strangers into comrades.
This isn't a hotel; it's a familial embrace in hospitality form. The climax? A beach BBQ thrown by the owners on your final evening. You're not just guests; you're momentarily part of the tapestry of this place. Dan at the front desk and Chris, the owner, become your local guides, weaving you through the fabric of Fisherman's Village, turning the experience from a simple stay into a profound immersion.
The locale of this place is spot on, despite the beach being a bit of a letdown. But hey, who cares when Fisherman's Village, with its bars and eateries, is just a stone's throw away? Plus, with a scooter rental just around the corner, you're moments away from discovering Koh Samui's real treasures like Silver Beach—a gem just a short ride away.
And the food? Across the street, there's a Thai spot that's bang on. If your palate leans towards Western, Fisherman's Village offers up the goods, like Red Moon, where the owner beams with pride as he showcases his culinary prowess, especially to those with a discerning taste in food. Hint: don't skip the truffle ravioli.
As for the Waterfront's rooms, they're what you need and nothing you don't. A place to crash, cleanse, and cache your belongings. On an island as enchanting as Koh Samui, your time is better spent outside these four walls, living the kind of stories Anthony Bourdain would have relished.
Expensive in comparison to another we had just left at the same price.
No breakfast!
Scruffy place needs a serious tidy up - just even redecorate.
One pathetic little very cheap bedside light not enough to read a book!
Very small TV
Noisy bar till midnight
But
Nice location & friendly staff
