Extremely helpful and friendly team, very comfortable room with everything I needed.
It was a small comfortable, quiet unit with a lovely courtyard. The staff were friendly and professional. The bar, the cheese board and breakfast were great.
Nothing
Location was good, walkable to downtown and to Kaikoura Encounters where we had booked some excursions.
We stayed in a deluxe courtyard room so cannot comment on the rooms that were in the main building. Calling the courtyard room deluxe and/or boutique is a massive stretch of the imagination. We've stayed in plenty of low, mid and high range accommodations and the deluxe room is on par with a roadside motor inn room. Tiny, paper thin walls, dingy shower stall. We were booked for two nights and left after the first night. I don't have a problem with staying in a one or two star room in a motor inn and paying accordingly. However, in this case, the room is not worth $NZD 336 per night.
Heerlijke kamer in het historic hotel zelf met uitzicht op zee en balkon.
Ontbijt is vrij basic.
Great room , great place. Not the services I would expect for 600 dollars plus s night.breakfast was continental. Bar was limited
This was the sort of hotel that passes unnoticed and un-reviewed, precisely because it delivers what it promises, no less, no more. Yes, it might be pushing it a bit with the ‘boutique hotel’ tag, but it does have ample parking, it does serve breakfast, and it is more than a B&B. John is a committed and helpful host, and the hotel’s location is spot on - equally distant from the equally good restaurants, Zephyr and Pier Hotel. Would have given five stars if the beds weren’t like water beds, and the pillows not packed with foam.
Great location and small but clean room.
Nothing
Perfect location on the waterfront. A few minutes walk to the town centre. I was warmly greeted by John, who together with Debbie contributed to a very pleasant stay. Good parking facilities for guests. Good Internett. I had a room in the garden behind the main entrance. Room was spacious, spotless clean, good bed, very quiet so perfect sleep quality.
Vriendelijke personeel en het goede ontbijt.
Excellent property. Our waterfront room with balcony was immaculately clean and well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and Deb provided extra pillows at our request. Our hosts (Deb and Johnny) are seasoned veterans in the hospitality business and are friendly, gracious, kind, and accommodating. The included breakfast was lovely, and we appreciated that there is a pay as you go bar downstairs as well as a beautiful courtyard with lovely flowers (where there is also a filtered water fountain for filling up your water bottles). They thoughtfully provided wool throws to make going out on the balcony with a cup of tea a very pleasant experience. In fact that’s how I watched the beautiful sunrise this morning! Convenient off-street parking is available, and I loved that we were not in the midst of the busier portion of Kaikoura Town, but instead had a gorgeous unobstructed view of the esplanade. My husband and I were extremely pleased with our accommodations and we would happily return here on a future trip to lovely Kaikoura.
