Property Closure: The hotel will be fully closed from July 27th to August 9th, 2026.

Restaurant & Breakfast: The restaurant will be closed during renovations. Between August 10th and Oktober 18th, breakfast will be served at our partner property, Hotel Alexander (a 5-minute walk away).

Pros:

the room was tiny, it was around 35 degrees, there was a party opposite, I had to leave a day early to try to find a hotel where I could get some rest, I have written to the hotel and got no reply.

Gute Basis für die Basel-Entdeckung
Pros:

Das Bett war sehr bequem und die Dusche war groß. Frühstück und Essen waren gut.
Das Hotel liegt zentral, die Straßenbahnhaltestelle war direkt vor dem Hotel.
Die Messe ist 3 min zu Fuß entfernt und auch der badische Bahnhof ist fußläufig zu erreichen.

Cons:

Das Zimmer war sehr klein und das gilt auch für das Badezimmer. Dies auch wegen der großen Dusche.

Personnel sympathique, propreté des chambres

Cons:

Pas de climatisation, ventilateurs d’appoint bruyants et frigo peu puissant. Bruit du tramway très présent, surtout si on est obligé d’ouvrir la fenêtre pour supporter la chaleur…

Good but not great
Pros:

The location was excellent for me, only steps away from the Art Basel exhibition center! Lovely neighborhood. Very clean. The free public transport card was a nice bonus but I guess that applies to all hotels in Basel.

Cons:

The room was tiny. There’s no space to walk, and having large luggage can be a huge struggle. I only had a carry-on and I couldn’t handle the space. Also, there’s no A/C and in that summer heat, it was a total nightmare staying and sleeping in a tiny hot room. Thankfully a fan was provided, but unfortunately it didn’t make any difference! Basel is generally expensive, so this hotel can be considered affordable.

It was difficult without small fridge and no A/C but I enjoyed the cleanliness and location.
Pros:

Location is great. Cleanliness is excellent. Coffee is great and food is good. Staff nice. I liked that they had original paintings all over.

Cons:

Furnitures worn out although clean. Most importantly the small fridge was not working in 99 degree heat that lasted for a week. Hotel is old building and does not have A/C. I was given two fans, which helped, but could not store cool drinks that would help with dehydration and cooling off since small fridge was broken, they could not replace and said it was because of extreme heat that it is not working! It was not even turning on.. Other: I had carry on luggages and the elevator does not go all the way to he 4th floor, so if you have difficulty with heavy weight or health issues make sure you get a room that is accessible via elevator.

Geeat location and people
Pros:

Excellent staff. - front desk was helpful.and answered all our questions. Breakfast was good and manager seemed was also quite good. Location was great, with a tram stop close by - with the free Basel card given by the hotel, easy to travel in the city.

Cons:

Mattresses were very soft. We stayed during a heat wave so the lack of AC kept the room very hot all night-not their fault as it is advertised as such.
