Lovely hotel with friendly staff
Pros:

Had a lovely few nights at the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn. You can only get to this hotel by water taxi from the port but it only costs $1 and takes a few minutes which adds to the fun and adventure of it all. The staff were attentive and friendly and we enjoyed a beautiful breakfast that you order al la carte. The room was large and clean with a king bed that was very comfortable. Our room was on the main level but it had a nice view of the water and a little patio to sit on. This is a beautiful hotel and I highly recommend it during your stay on Santa Cruz.

Watee tank station
Pros:

Location was so good. Next to see and view was great. Also breakfast was good

Cons:

Next to my room (Gecko) is a water pump station. It kept working and making noise constantly. So it was challenging to sleep at night. Poor sound insulation.

Upscale and exclusive resort.
Pros:

I stayed for three nights at the Angermeyer waterfront inn at the end of November 2025 as part of a 4 day Galápagos overland adventure with Holland America.

It’s an exclusive resort, accessible only by water taxi (a $1 ride) on the shores of Academy Bay. Schools of the cutest cownose rats and baby sharks are seen often patrolling the bay. When you read in Galápagos travel guides that you can see Sally Lightfoot crabs and marine iguanas on certain islands - you don’t have to go far. They’re right here on the docks and rocks along the shore.

My room was spacious and beautiful with a gorgeous view. But unfortunately it was on the top floor and I had to climb 4 flights of stairs to get up to my room. I had sciatic pain so it made the climb painful.

And there is no hotel phone in the room so if I needed something, I had to go down and climb all the way up. Yes, I could have used my cellphone but it would have incurred a CDN $18 roaming charge. So those are the reasons I gave it a 4 STAR instead of a 5 STAR. Since I returned home, I have found out that elevators are very hard to find in the Galapagos, and that there is only one hotel with elevators so I do not blame them for not having it. If I had known that there would not be an elevator and that my room would be on the top floor I would have asked Holland America line to try and get me a room on the ground floor . However, I did not know about it and I think that they could at least install a telephone that you can use to contact guest service services and to also set an alarm or a wake up call. What happened on the second day is that I overslept because my iPhone alarm did not go off and I nearly missed my tour. This is an expensive hotel and I cannot see why they do not have a hotel telephone in your room.

The hotel provides two tall bottles of drinking water every day and you are asked to use it even to brush your teeth. If you need it to be refilled, they will refill it for you downstairs.

We had our breakfast at the hotel every day. They have a good selection of breakfasts and I always had the healthy choice of yoghurt with bananas, granola, Chia etc. We had two dinners at the hotel restaurant and they were unique with a good menu. Night herons joined us and in the mornings, mockingbirds and Darwin’s finches joined us.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. I had difficulty with the Safe when I arrived. It turns out that everyone in our outdoor group had difficulty with the Safe. It is nothing like you have ever seen before and I had to get guest service to come in and help me. Someone in a group told me that they had guest services come in four times to help them with the safe! 😁

I also had some laundry done at the hotel. Prices are very low and the service is expeditious. I sent it in one night and it was returned the next day. Very impressive Laundry service!

A nice hotel in a nice location that is a good stay
Pros:

An upscale beach side hotel with a rustic feel and lots of history. Super friendly staff. Rooms are all very different from one another. Our room had a terrace and was huge and comfortable. The hotel restaurant just opened and is recommended. All of the concierges were super helpful. You have a great view of the bay from the hotel restaurant but the nearest beach is at another hotel. Note you can only get there from water taxi that costs a dollar per person from town. That can be annoying if you want to go in and out of town, but we didn’t mind it. The staff really made us feel appreciated with little gestures on our honeymoon.

Schöner Aufenthalt
Pros:
