Location and the very comfortable room. Very friendly staff
Nothing springs to mind
Room was clean and comfy. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful
No complaints here
Great location for exploring the city. Only 15 mins walk from Canterbury west station
Location, friendly staff, great room andexcellent breakfast .
Nothing
Could not have been better. Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. Location right next to the Cathedral. Ancient building, very higgledy piggledy but spotlessly clean and all facilities clean and up to date. Excellent breakfast included with everything fresh. Was advised of an even older pub nearby and enjoyed my evening meal with a local beer there. All affordable and all spot on.
Nothing. All good.
Central location not far from a car park. The hotel has real character and much better than a modern building. Continental breakfast was very good and what ever you needed was provided with no restrictions. Staff were great.
For us the bed was on the soft side, but that of course is personal taste. Minor addition -it would have been nice to have a small shelf in the shower room to put the bodywash container on and a mat for the shower tray.
The service was above and beyond excellent! The room was quaint and clean, and right next to the Cathedral Gate. The continental breakfast was delicious. However, the service and kindness of the staff was beyond compare.
The property was spotlessly clean and close to where we needed to be.
The slippery metal steps outside - could do with some non slip paint on them as I slipped! 🤣
This is one of the quirkiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in, with its charmingly uneven floors, narrow hallways, and little stairways that wind up and down throughout the building. It truly feels like stepping back in time. The location is perfect, right beside the old gate, and from our window we had a wonderful view of the cathedral. Our room was lovely, the staff were friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable.
A return visit. OK: the first and only real problem: accessibility. This hotel is not accessible but how can a building that’s this old and this idiosyncratic ever do that?
So let’s look at the rest: amazing. A lovely hotel, often with views of the cathedral itself. So central it’s insane. A dining room on a slope that makes you realise you are in an OLD house. Lovely rooms, well decorated and comfortable.
The staff are lovely and so so helpful. Perfection itself.
This is now my only ‘go-to’ hotel in Canterbury (and I’m a regular visitor). At this price you’d be hard pressed to find a better all-rounder.
Location and the discount for the car park when u stay there .
Quirky.
Our room was clean and bed very comfortable however the heating never went off throughout the night and found out that the thermostat couldn’t be turned down so had to sleep with window open which was noisy outside, shower head was blocked and leaking, tv was pretty bad .
No one to speak to in the morning as they were busy doing breakfast.
Wouldn’t stay again .
