Pros:

The Crieff Hydro is a lovely setting and we loved the pool and Victorian baths. The breakfast was fantastic and a wonderful breakfast manager Lynn went out of her way to help my disabled partner. Restaurant choices in the evening were limited and we ended up eating in East twice as there were no other restaurants available - it was good but pricey and not the kind of food you want to eat two nights in a row. Bookings etc supposed to be on an App which was not working properly. My 25 year old son was keen on doing some activities but there was no availability. I think they cater for large groups with prebookings. The Secret bar was a special experience.

Beautiful hotel
Pros:

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Very impressive and lots to do. All the staff were lovely too. Clean spacious family room. Got moved when we asked for a better view and the room was ideal. Good restaurants and a good atmosphere. Didn’t do the activities as Storm Amy arrived!! Would be lovely in the summer. Will definitely go back to stay.

Pros:

Room was clean with beautiful views and enough space for all 3 of us.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful when questions were asked.
Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Had to ask for pancakes for my little one though and no chocolate sauce which she was disappointed in but didn’t ruin our breakfast experience.
We used the pool which was great too. Kids pool was warmer than the big pool which was lovely.

Pros:

The hotel was clean and room was a good size but we went to the restaurant for lunch costing nearly £200 and the service was poor and at times staff were very rude. We were a party of 8 and although it was empty they crammed us around a table suitable for 5 max, made mistakes with the kids food order and then were quite rude when told. Breakfast was terrible. we were sat in a different restaurant than the buffet so not easy going back and forward to get food with 4 kids , took a short cut back in the front door rather than walking full way round and was told off by a very rude hostess. Didn’t take a tea/coffee order until called over then forgot about the kids pancake order. We also paid for adventure day passes and it was so disorganised. Tree top climbing was so busy and a nightmare to get into turned up 40 minutes early, stood at front and folk just turned up and skipped in front of us. same happened at the shooting and staff didn’t seem to care. Bit disappointing especially when it was adults skipping in front of kids. On busy days they really should do advance bookings for time slots to make sure everyone gets a turn without it turning into arguments.

Pros:

Friendly , pleasant and helpful staff at this hotel. We enjoyed the free organised activities within this hotel, for example the music bingo, which was fun. It would have been useful to be given the list of activities at reception on arrival as we didn't find out about the events until our second day at the hotel. There is even a cinema,
All the staff were excellent and very helpful. The prices in the restaurants are a bit expensive especially the Asian inspired restaurant. We hope to return to the hotel as we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Hotel shows age, but overall is good.
Pros:

Overall, we were pleased with the place. However, The room was not very clean. The floor was dirty had to be mopped. The chairs were old and dirty. We needed to have the window cracked open because it was very musty in the room.

Also, We were very happy with the Receptionist Amita. The reason was that previous to talking to her about a lost item, we called the reception twice and spoke to them in person to find our lost item and rather than checking thoroughly, They simply said nothing was turned that fit the description of what we had lost. Amita on the other hand First told us there was nothing that she knew about, but She would check another place to make sure. After checking, she found our item. It was very essential in our traveling and we were very happy that she found it. We don’t understand why the other receptionists were not as thorough as she was, but at least we can give an excellent report for her.
We are pleased with the breakfast, the only thing we might add is that it would be nice to have more vegan items with protein. The baked beans seemed to be the only item with protein, and we had the same food every day. if you stay one day, it’s OK but we stayed five days

Stately and activity-filled
Pros:

The sprawling grounds has so much to explore, and the hotel offers such a variety of activities you wont ever feel bored. You can even have your own Bridgerton moment on their immaculate croquet lawn.

The building is quite stately and the rooms well appointed. Some rooms are only accessible via a staircase so if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues, best to write ahead to the hotel.

Special shout-out to Tessa who is part of the concierge team. She was so friendly, helpful, and service-minded. She has an ability to anticipate your needs and give really good suggestions.

Recommend the horse-riding activity because you get to tour the extensive estate. Would've loved to do the nature walk if I had more time there!

Value for money stay, great hotel
Pros:

My partner and I visited for one night, we were both very impressed. We booked a standard room, it was spacious, clean and had dual aspect windows. We didn’t manage to eat at the main hotel however the meal we had at the sister restaurant was really good value. The main bar looks like it’s recently been refurbished, a great place to chill out and the bartenders were very friendly. The Victorian spa was definitely worth visiting but I’m not sure that charging hotel guests for its use is entirely justifiable.

Pros:

We booked a one night stay for our family of 6. There were no family rooms so we had 2 room, these were large, clean and comfortable.
We ate in the Brasserie, this was disappointing, staff were friendly but the service lacked any extra touches, we had to ask several times for things. Food was ok, the steak was the best thing. The scampi was very dry- avoid!
Staff didn’t ask how our meal was to feed it back at the time.
Breakfast the next day was carnage, we had a short wait to be seated to then find our table wasn’t set, was told someone would be over but they never appeared. We had to ask several times for tea/coffee. There were lots of half cleared tables around, there seemed to be plenty staff but again lacking leadership.
Buffet felt too busy, there needs to be a better flow for the space. People had to ask several times for bowls. Food was ok.
Grounds of the hotel and welcome are nice, pool was warm, we went to the splash session which had a slide which the kids enjoyed.
Lots of other activities going on like table tennis, badminton, games which were free.
Overall the concept of the hotel is good, but overpriced for below average service, wouldn’t return

Pros:

Disappointing Stay Despite Beautiful Surroundings

We recently stayed at the Crieff Hydro and were impressed by the beautiful surroundings and the hotel itself – it really is a stunning location. The staff were lovely and attentive throughout our visit.

Unfortunately, our experience was marred by a serious issue with the room we booked. We had specifically chosen a room that, as advertised, included a dividing space – ideal for parents with a young child. We even raised concerns about the room prior to booking, but were only told they were tell Expedia to remove the picture of the room we booked (family triple) Sadly, no offer to remedy the issues from the hotel.

To make matters worse, the room was uncomfortably hot, with no air conditioning and only a cheap fan provided, which did little to help.

While the hotel has great potential and the staff were wonderful, our stay was ultimately ruined by misleading advertising and an unsuitable room setup. A real shame, as we had high hopes.
