Crags Hotel exceeded our expectations. The building is old but very well looked after, and cleanliness was excellent throughout our stay. The Indian restaurant was fantastic—we ate there twice. We noticed a mild food aroma occasionally, but honestly it didn't affect our experience at all. People experience smells differently, so those complaints are very subjective. The management deserves appreciation for preserving this heritage property while running a business.
Some time mild smell of food.
Location
The bedrooms were very tired. We stayed three nights never got room Service in the rooms during the day you’ve got one bath towel per person. Restaurant was advertised as local Scottish produce but it was an Indian restaurant and it was very tired and expensive. Would not recommend staying here not good value for money needs a very good clean.
We had a wonderful stay at Crags Hotel. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the beds were very comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help, and the locals made us feel right at home
The attached Indian restaurant is one of the best we've visited. The food was absolutely delicious, with excellent service and a lovely atmosphere.
What made our stay even more memorable was that the team surprised us with a special treat for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful and kind gesture. It really made us feel valued and added a personal touch to our visit.
We would highly recommend Crags Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with fantastic hospitality and amazing food. We can't wait to come back!
No regrets.
everything was delicious such a great service
We loved our stay at Crags Hotel. It's a charming old property with history, not a modern concrete hotel. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The Indian food served downstairs was one of the highlights of our trip. Yes, you can occasionally smell the cooking, but it's hardly surprising with a restaurant attached. Negative reviews focused only on the food smell seem a bit unfair because it's a matter of personal sensitivity. The staff do an excellent job maintaining this beautiful old building.
Little curry smell from kitchen

Everything was fantastic apart from the weather which was too sunny . Haha
Our stay at Crags Hotel was excellent. It's an old heritage property with lots of character, so don't expect a brand-new luxury hotel. Everything was clean and well maintained. Yes, there's an Indian restaurant attached, so you may notice food aromas in some areas. Personally, I didn't find it bothersome, and the food was absolutely delicious. Reviews complaining about the smell are very subjective. It's simply part of having a restaurant in a heritage building, and the management can't realistically eliminate it completely. Overall, the hospitality made our stay memorable.
A memorable stay at Crags Hotel. If you're looking for a modern chain hotel, this isn't it—but if you appreciate heritage buildings, you'll love it. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff were genuinely caring. The Indian restaurant serves excellent food. The occasional cooking aroma didn't bother us at all, and I think complaints about it are largely subjective. The management is doing a commendable job maintaining this historic property while running a restaurant, and both deserve support. We'd definitely return.
