Lovely hotel. Very historic.
Pros:

Lovely historic hotel but we stayed in the lodge which was new, clean, light and airy. Just one issue we arrived in the evening and the grounds are very dark. The place needs more external lighting.

Lovely hotel, beautiful setting and location
Pros:

Wonderful Hotel - lovely setting and location. This hotel is beautiful. Classic features, in a beautiful setting yet pretty central and just a few minutes walking distance from the town. Plenty of parking, lovely gardens with deer roaming! Lovely bar, room was huge. Staff lovely. Breakfast is continental so if you require more then just don’t book walk to a nearby cafe. Thanks Purbeck House. We will be back!

Wonderful little Staycation
Pros:

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at the Purbeck hotel. The room was lovely, bigand clean. It was facing towards the trainstation so you could hear the steam trains (which my partner was ecstatic about). The staff were friendly and attentative, as well as pour a good pint.

Will definitely stay again!

Good place to stay near town centre and beach
Pros:

I have stayed at the Purbeck House Hotel a few times and my experience has always been good. This trip was no different. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The main hotel has a lovely olde worlde ambience and is only a short walk from the town centre with it's pubs and cafes, and the beach. My single room was spacious, clean, well laid out, and a very reasonable price.
The only downside is the lack of cooked breakfast, but with so many places to get breakfast in Swanage it's not really surprising, and other hotels are doing the same. The hotel does provide a list of the breakfast places with contact details. The hotel does a continental breakfast, which I had on this occasion and was good. I have already booked for another stay, so that says it all really.

Lovely stone building with bar and lounges, close to local shops
Pros:

Lovely old stone building with a bar and lounges. One can stay in the building itself or in Louisa Lodge adjacent (wandering in to the main building to enjoy the facilities). Close to the local shops and eateries, it's our first choice when stopping in Swanage, which we do a couple of times a year.

Outstanding hotel!
Pros:

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by 3 deer in the gardens, the grounds are lovely and well kept. The hotel itself is wonderful with such character and class. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Our room was beautiful, with a four poster bed and huge bathroom. The views from the windows were amazing and the room was extremely clean. We can't wait to come back!

Beautiful old building and grounds, friendly staff, comfortable room- I will return!
Pros:

My single room was spacious, comfortable, very warm and with the promised sea view. Breakfast was available but I don't eat in the mornings. There was no shortage of hot water and no draughts - which you might expect in such a large, old hotel. The house was magnificent with high ceilings, stained glass windows and mosaic tiled floors. There were sitting rooms and other tucked away places to sit and read when the weather was wet. The staff were so helpful and friendly and parking was secure and with ample spaces. The hotel is in the centre of the town so just a few minutes walk to the shops, the beach and the beautiful pier. The locals were very friendly! The independent shops were interesting to browse. I went in November but we had a Spring-like weather so I visited local beauty spots like Kimmeridge Bay and Corfe Castle. Highly recommend you visit Swanage and stay at the Purbeck House Hotel

Disliked · There was no lift but staff were happy to help me up the stairs with my luggage. The person that helped me also gave me a brief history of the buidling and his long-standing connection with it. Fascinating!

Fabulous Hotel
Pros:

Just back from a wonderful weekend at the hotel. All the staff were so pleasant and welcoming. They definitely care about their guests and want them to enjoy their stay.
The hotel is beautiful with many original features, but well maintained and clean throughout. The rooms are spacious and all individual with everything you need.
We spoke to the manager who explained that the hotel had been in the family for generations and the plans for further improvements to an already fabulous hotel.
There was only Continental breakfast provided when we stayed, but there was a good selection of fruits, breads, yoghurt, cheese etc along with a good coffee machine.
Due to the age of the hotel, there is no lift and quite a few stairs to climb if you have a room near the top, but we wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay there again.
Thank you for making us feel so welcome and looking after us.

A really wonderful hotel, with staff that really care
Pros:

We booked 3 rooms for us and family for a weekend together. The help from the reception when booking was informative and helpful. On arrival check in was friendly and we were shown the 3 rooms we had booked. The hotel is very old and historic. Everywhere is spotless, clean and comfortable. Staff were always on hand for anything we required.
The rooms ( we had double deluex ) were beautiful, large with fab views. The breakfast was continental with a choice of fruits, breads and pastries and croissants and juice, a selection of teas and coffee.
The well stocked bar and the lounge was again beautiful in its decour and friendly bar staff.
The hotel manager was even so kind to give us a very informative tour of the hotel. There was such a personal and caring attitude from all the staff which made us feel so welcome that we were more that just another guest at a hotel.
The hotel has a very good and large car park and the hotel is a short walk to the sea front, shops and restaurants of which there are many.
We really enjoyed our weekend at Purbeck House Hotel and if in the area again would definitely return.
