Nothing
Staff were very friendly, professional and helpful.
So many things to do with kids.
Beautiful grounds.
Amazing stay.
Could have done with a bit more information relation to the facilities.
The breakfast eaten outside under an umbrella at XIX cafe was delicious. The facilities are exceptional - including five pools! And the restaurants were top- class, especially Lumri serving Indian food. The whole place is peaceful and beautifully kept. It would score 10 out of 10 if the rooms were air conditioned.
The one disappointment was the lack of air conditioning. We were there during a heatwave and the room was almost unbearably hot. The windows only opened a small way and the fans were inadequate. We were unable to find the switch to turn off the bathroom mirror lighting which was heated making the airless bathroom even hotter. Great pity to have such exceptionally hot rooms in a heatwave.
Facilities for families, food options, stagf
No - all good
Love this hotel for a weekend away with family
So pricy. Feels very extravagant
The surroundings and grounds were first class. As a keen golfer I loved the environment
No air conditioning. Not on really
The staff were all helpful and friendly. Didn’t meet one grumpy one. With a person in our group needing extra assistance this was very important.
The spa treatment was expensive but well worth the money.
The Lomri restaurant served tasty, beautifully presented food.
Our rooms were spacious and well appointed.
Air conditioning in the bedrooms as they were very hot.
Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings, perfect for a get away weekend. We enjoyed the outdoor pools very much which were both heated.
Dinner at Lomri was really exceptional! Delicious dishes and very nice setting (lots of natural light coming in the room). Service was great there too.
We felt the value for money was disappointing: mattress was old and far too soft, no complimentary water in the room despite the heatwave and the temperature in the room was almost unbearable (32 degrees when we got there…!) with no air cond available.
We were also very disappointed by the breakfast - we both ordered eggs royale which were far too cooked and the hollandaise sauce was nearly cold. The worst I’ve ever eaten and I don’t think I am difficult to please with breakfasts! Last point to raise: the staff at XIX was not particularly welcoming and friendly and seemed unexperienced for the most part. We didn’t see lots of smiles on faces…!
The sports facilities
Room was hot despite the fan, but temperatures were exceptional
The property is beautiful, with good sized rooms and a slick interior.
This is a pricey hotel so you would expect the service to match that. Felt more like we were on a conveyer belt checking into a Holiday Inn. They didn’t show us to the room, didn’t explain about restaurants or breakfast arrangements. Were woken up by the lawn mowing at 8am, when I asked reception why this was done at the time the response was this is what always happens. We then had window cleaners at 10am who just proceeded to clean the windows while we were getting changed. Again when I queried this I was told that was what always happens. I just felt that this hotel lacked the special touch to make a guest feel the 300 quid on the room for one night was worth it. The staff I think are young and inexperienced.
Location. Great grounds and pavilion outdoor pool. Main house, and main house staff were lovely. Bar in Manor House was fab.
Barrier entry turnstyles for most facilities were a bit of a turn off . Spa/ treatment rooms had no air conditioning. They were unbearable. Bedrooms had no air conditioning, no fan working in bathroom. Paid a lot of money £1200 approx to get no sleep in an oven. Staff in 19, restaurant ignored us, and served new arrivals ahead of us. We were two women and one child. Had to ask for service, ask for menu, ask for drinks...even though there were lots of staff. Staff were quite rude. Ordered a starter and a main course, it was all brought out at the same ... and they acted as if we were in the wrong. New table server asked if we wanted a pudding, and tried to take away our meal, when we were still eating, with full plates. Then never came back. This was made worse by the fact that lots of other tables around us were being served straightaway we couldn't understand why they chose to treat us this way. However everywhere else the staff were great.
