Lovely location, room and spa - hopefully will be better once renovations are complete
Pros:

Lovely courtyard room and the spa was nice.

Cons:

The bath was very confusing. It needed instructions which we had to google and there was no shower gel or shampoo next to the bath and the ones in the shower were not moveable. The shower drain was blocked and filled with water and it took ages to stop running once switched off. There were no decaf teas or coffees. The restaurant was shut for renovation so we had to use the clubhouse which was a bit too pub-like for our tastes.

Pros:

Property was lovely and location and staff nice and friendly.

Cons:

we had room service for one of the nights we stayed there and the food was awful, chicken goujons especially, nothing like described and they tasted like fish rather than chicken. Still had to pay for it too

Comfy and convenient
Pros:

Lots to do and room was fantastic. Wonderful staff.

Cons:

We weren’t informed until after booking the property (on Booking.com) that lots of the restaurants and lounges were undergoing refurbishment and unusable. The spa was good but needs an update. Breakfast (scrambled eggs and salmon) was terrible, unsure if they were real eggs.

Comfortable stay but service felt a bit impersonal
Pros:

Big room and comfy bed

Cons:

The customer experience wasn’t particular exceptional for the price. Didn’t feel particularly valued and staff in the spa just kind of ignored me when I walked in to use the spa

Best part was the spa facilities
Pros:

Spa facilities are excellent and location to the office.

Cons:

Room was too hot, shame as the room was lovely.
Shower door didnt open fully due to shower head being to low.. Had to squeeze through a gap. A large person wouldnt have fitted..
Food was ok in the club house due to main house being closed.

Cons:

Don’t yet the promotional videos fool you, I wouldn’t stay here! The entire set up is focused on golf and whilst they have a pavilion offering softplay, swimming and gym activities it is overcrowded and hotel guests are far from welcome.

The facilities are shared with local residents who subscribe to membership. All the attention and focus is on them rather than the hotel guests. We overheard regular conversations from the staff complaining that hotel guests were taking over and making it very crowded.

Worse the main hotel is completely incompetent. There are no phones in the rooms which make it impossible to call reception or order any food. They have a virtual AI helpline which is useless.

You have to carry bags to your room, despite it raining there are no umbrellas and the car park is reserved for members or those playing golf.

The chef and some of the staff in the Pavilion Resturant were so rule. They provided cold and uncooked food twice - servicing frozen uncooked starters one day and then raw pasta the second time. When returned they didn’t apologies just sore and complained.

Worst the whole estate organised a fireworks show. Again this was advertised for memberships and the general public. Hotel guests were asked to purchase tickets and then went on to say that the event was sold out and they couldn’t accommodate hotel guests.

Overall an awful experience. I wouldn’t bother. It’s basically a rubbish David Lloyd with rule staff.

Beautiful Location, but wouldn't return.
Pros:

The grounds are beautiful

Cons:

Some staff were very unprofessional and rude, food came out cold twice, steak so over salted and peppered it was inedible. For the price you pay there should be zero issues. Waiter spilt sauce all over one of our party and was delt with very poorly. Breakfast had eggs royal and the hollandaise sauce was cold, spoke to the server so sent a replacement and the same thing, she told me that because of how its made its a cold sauce. Never heard anything so ridiculous. Dinner was left with starter plates on the table whilst they were serving mains, then was left with our dinner plates for so long after we finished our food we had to ask for them to be cleared away.
