My room was in the older part of the main pub, and whilst some of the building was ageing, the room was well looked after and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating to all requests. This is a traditional homely hotel and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
Welcoming, clean and great breakfast
A useful place to stay when visiting Avebury. Basic rustic accommodation. Unfortunately, when we arrived we discovered that the kitchen was closed other than for breakfasts. However, the Prince of Wales across the road was open for meals. We had two cooked breakfasts here, deliciously cooked by different staff. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful, prividing a home away from home experience. Bed was comfy and we slept soundly. Our dog was treated wonderfully.
Location perfect. Nigel's breakfasts and service was great. Hannah looked after me on arrival, and during my stay.
Nice place, some bits (roof terrace) a little tired, but characterful, old buildings need constant attention.
As above, the tired bits.
Suggested improvements would be upgrading the sockets to USB ones & adding a mirror in the bedroom.
Staff were helpful & friendly provided a relaxed welcoming service. We thought it great value for the price paid.
We were impressed with the size of the room and how quiet it was so we had great sleep. Shower pressure was amazing.
Would definitely stay again.
Nice, friendly place to stay.
Was myself and my friend who stayed here for 2 nights for the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. Great location for a 25 minute travel between the two places.
Slight hiccup upon arrival but sorted very quickly.
The owner (Ben) is a delightful guy who very much went out of his way to make up for the hiccup, and couldn't have been nicer or done more. He even made up a breakfast bag for me to take with me when I departed early on my last morning. Thank you Ben!
The bar area in general is a great size, loads of space to move about. There's a pool table, darts board, and a TV available in the bar area.
there are two outside seating areas, one of which has a number of tables and large umbrellas, the other on a grassy area beyond the rear car park.
A couple of things which could be improved.
Could do with at least one more member of bar staff. When we arrived, Zack was the only guy in there (it seemed) and he was running around trying to do his best, but was clearly in need of assistance.
Food that we had was great, looked great, tasted lovely, and a decent size, menu was a little small but that's being really picky as I'm a fussy eater.
Overall my experience was positive, and will likely stay there again. Thanks to the team who did a great job.
Our room had a recently refurbished bathroom, which was good (although the machine linked to the toilet did make an unexpected noise from time-to-time). However, the overall feeling was that the hotel was poorly organised. In particular, the breakfast arrangements were slow and insufficient thought had been put into thinking about what the clients might need (and not know where to find) etc.
Good location and value for money. Breakfast ok and fast service. Room clean and a decent size.
Staff were a little rude, was given incorrect information by one and another was very abrupt when I questioned it. Quite a few ants in the bathroom and some stains on the carpet, but generally fine.
Perfect location with good food and lovely staff
Nothing
Really good stay, comfortable bed, lovely shower, excellent breakfast
Acceptable - staff were late on duty and it was late
Barry restaurant area would benefit from refurbishment
Nice old building, the guest accommodation is chalet style, separate to the pub. They were not offering evening meals when we stayed but directed us the pub opposite which had a good pub menu. The staff at the Barrington were very helpful and responsive.
Warm and friendly welcome. Room immaculately clean and tidy. Friendly breakfast service. Hot breakfasts cooked to order.
Lovely area friendly staff, only problem was the bed has wooden sides and a low mattress which means you hurt the back of your legs trying to get out of bed the mattress needs higher.
Room did the job, booked a double bed but got 2 singles. Bed was a bit springy, maybe a mattress topper but overall no issues.
A good central location for where I needed to visit.
Staff were ok but the breakfast cook could have been more attentive rather than looking at his mobile with his feet up.
The room was passable but could have been better decorated. The shower door was broken but useable. The flloring could be fixed. There was no mirror in the bedroom area.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the middle of a nice friendly village.
Food and service was very good.
Needs a bit of tlc especially the front of the building
