We travelled as a Family of 3 for the Easter Weekend and just had the best time. The hotel is beautiful, the grounds are tropical and there are so many spaces you can chill from Sun beds to lounge chairs and sunken sofas it’s perfect. The beach location and heated pool is amazing for this time of year and such a bonus for the kids, they can play and not turn blue!
We arrived around 11 and check in was quite lengthy but we headed to the restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised when a member of the reception team came and found us to let us know our room was ready early. This level of attention to detail is what you expect from 5 star and the reception team are really trying to uphold this. They also flexed our half board one day for lunch as we were eating out in the evening which was testament to the reception team.
The room was spacious, clean and perfect for what we needed. The Nuxe bath products added that hint of luxury!
We were half board which for a 5 Day break was perfect. It includes the buffet and the 2 Al Carte restaurants. The Spanish restaurant is exceptional! The food is such a high standard and lovely atmosphere. High praise for the kitchen team!
The service overall in the restaurants is very slow and does let the hotel down. Expect 45 Mins to even order food. We did find if you give a healthy tip on the first couple of days your service overall is significantly better. So for the sake of £20 this was well worth doing!
The facilities overall are awesome. The gym and spa are top quality and well worth a visit.
Overall highly recommend!
If you expect any level of service at a 5 star resort then do not stay here, as the service is slower than a tortoise! 2 hours to check in and rooms not ready until after 6pm
Lovely location, we had a very enjoyable holiday here for 11 days.( fully recharged on return)
Service was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hugh variety of food and drink in 3 different restaurants.
Plenty to see nearby and taxi drivers excellent if you wish to adventure further into Morocco.
We had a superb stay here - reading the recent reviews I was expecting a couple of niggles here or there but I was pleasantly surprised that we’ve had a faultless holiday.
We didn’t get our room till 3pm but we went for lunch while we waited. All the staff are very attentive - a special mention to Imad, who kept our room spotless and well stocked. Ismail (gym), Hamza and countless others that I can’t remember all their names.
There is a heated pool and a well equipped gym. The spa is lovely, priced as you would expect a 5* to be. There are plenty of sun beds so no crazy rush in the morning to wake up to find a spot.
We tried all the restaurants in the hotel and ventured to others in Agadir too. Most are a short (and cheap) taxi ride away. The marina is an hours walk away which has a few restaurants too.
I wouldn’t hesitate coming here again.
The hotel has good potential and some very nice features, but the overall experience is affected by slow service and inconsistent operations.
The outdoor areas are beautiful, with well-maintained vegetation and pleasant spaces. The heated swimming pool is great for families and the staff are generally polite and pleasant.
However, service throughout the hotel is extremely slow. Whether ordering lunch at the pool or dining in the restaurants, everything takes a long time — even drinks can take around 30 minutes to arrive. On one occasion we arrived at the pool around noon and were told there were no beach towels available.
It is also worth noting that our stay was outside peak season, which makes the lack of speed and organization concerning for busier periods.
There is little consistency between the restaurants: they serve mostly the same dishes for lunch, yet portion sizes and prices vary for identical items. Prices overall also feel excessive (65 MAD for a bottle of water and around 200 MAD for a club sandwich).
Housekeeping was another issue. Our room was for three people, yet it was consistently prepared with only two towels and glasses despite mentioning it several times. Cleaning also often happened late in the afternoon (around 4–5 pm) even though we left the room at 9 am each day.
Overall, the hotel has a beautiful setting and good facilities, but service and operational consistency need significant improvement to match the expectations of a hotel in this category. We shared some of these points during our stay and hope management will address them.
Just returned from a fabulous weeks stay at this Hotel!! The whole experience was amazing.. room lovely and all other areas!!
The service we received was second to none with a special mention to Badr in La Market who looked after us impeccably for the whole duration of our stay.. Also a special mention to Yousef around the pool who once again looked after us. Both made us feel really welcome.
Would definitely return to this Hotel
Staff made this trip wonderful. Around the pool Karim, Habib and Mustaffa made sure the experience was not just service but also enjoyment.
Would return.
Very friendly staff , attentive and polite and service speed was excellent.
Check in was quick , less than 10 minutes followed by a tour of the resort.
Spanish restaurant has excellent evening entertainment, La Plage beach restaurant and a wide range of food and drinks , and the pizzas are huge !!!!
Great range of international and local dishes at the buffet breakfast, all cooked fresh to order.
Hotel grounds very clean , room immaculate.
I’m not sure if the negative reviews are genuine as this resort is a perfect 5/5
Absolutely awful
Room walls are as thin as biscuits
Hotel staff don’t listen to anything you say
The noise every night is horrific it feels like your in a nightclub
The value for money is non existent
They let people do whatever they want around the place and it has an awfully seedy approach to it
Would go as far as saying it’s the worst money I’ve ever spent
Please don’t make the same mistake as we did
The hotel and rooms look great, and are clean and modern. The pool area and Spanish restaurant/bar are also very well-designed and both great to spend time at. The food is terrific everywhere.
You know there’s a but coming.
I had two issues with reservation/check-in - unresolved - and they didn’t really care. Details a bit laborious to go into. In the end, I just gave in.
The service: I have to start by saying that the staff are friendly, warm, smiling and well-meaning. But service is really way below what such an expensive hotel should have - especially a Sofitel. At least half the time - not exaggerating - I asked for something, I had to ask at least twice. Most requests seem to need to go through 3 people. Often I would have to get up and get the drink, menu etc myself. It was quite tiring - not knowing if it would come, should I ask again, should I let it go etc? Once or twice ok, but consistently?
Room service: I tried twice. Both times the lines were always busy. First time I just gave up and didn’t order anything. Second time I went down to reception myself - there was only one person at reception who was dealing with someone checking in. Eventually someone saw me looking a bit lost and called room service for me. I shouldn’t have to go physically to reception - it defeats the point. Then I was left wondering if the food would come or not - I am pleased to say it did come.
But I do need to repeat that staff were warm and friendly.
This did negatively color the whole visit as it just added an additional layer of stress that wasn’t really needed especially when you consider the price.
We booked as part of a package holiday. The staff were all charming but the check in was the slowest I had ever experienced. The room was roomy and well appointed but the doors were permanently slamming all around us. I see others have commented on this. Our room was cleaned once whilst we were on the balcony and the cleaner let it slam repeatedly whilst going in and out for supplies- unnecessary.
The food was good and the spa luxurious but the drinks ..wow ...£6.50 for a small bottle of local beer ..really? TIP go all inclusive if you can.
Pros:
The hotel looks fabulous and we were upgraded to a suite which was spacious and very well furnished in modern styling.
The pool areas are spacious and right by the beach where there are guest beds (if you can get one!)
The two restaurants were excellent with good food, service and live music. We didn’t use the buffet restaurant as that not how we like to dine.
Cons
Service was very poor overall. Not the individual staff but the organisation.
Breakfast was like a cattle market at times with dozens of tables not cleared and really challenging to get service. The staff were clearly overwhelmed. Buffet food not replenished, cutlery and crockery shortages.
Service to the room was also poor especially in the first few days. Clean towels not resupplied, Mini bar not restocked etc. It did improve after complaints.
Poolside sunbeds were also an issue with guests competing to put towels out before breakfast and in some cases leaving them empty for hours. There was even a verbal fight over one bed! Not five star at all.
The Spa was ok but as a guest you have to pay 300 MADs (£24) to use the pool! Again service poor having to ask repeatedly for towels.
Overall 4/5 star hotel, 2/3 star service (except the restaurants).
We have just returned from a week at this hotel, the hotel is very clean and nicely designed and the food was very good we dined in all areas and enjoyed what we had. What lets this hotel down considering its a good well known chain is the service at breakfast and in general, which was dreadful, the staff took ages to do anything often forgot, when we sat down no tea or coffee offered at breakfast when it came hot water was luke warm. one day a juice was spilt on the floor but its a case of anyone in a suit is far too important to even start to clean it up so it sits there until someone comes to clean it!!! i mean you have to ask how that can be ok, i mentioned to the girl on the entrance who said someones coming - it was just beneath her and the cashier chap to do anything about it. Pool service not great you have to keep trying to find a member of staff theres always lots of staff hovering around the bar area chatting but not many actually doing much.Ordered a pizza it came cold i mentioned to the waiter he just said sorry and walked off no offer to sort it out. ( this is lack of training on how to resolve issues!) Reception staff also were a mix of just seeming unbothered on the whole and apart from the restaurants at dinner( where the staff were very good) that was generally the theme, too laid back , no-one seemed to want to do much. I dont blame the staff i blame the management and the F&B manager needs to get down to breakfast and see the chaos for himself, tables left uncleared and still left long after breakfast has finished.. just a complete mess, so many people were just getting fed up with it. it seems management at this hotel management hide away in offices are not really looking at whats going on.
It was our 4th trip to agadir over the years & 1st time in this hotel, but i wouldnt return to it as it was dissapointing...there are so many places we can go for the same money, eygpt offers superb service everytime. Hotel management really need to shape up on this one they can only be held accountable for how lacking it is. train the staff!
Loved this hotel. I have stayed in many holiday 5* hotels/resorts including Dubai and the Ritz hotel in London but this is the best. Very clean, beautiful well kept grounds, the food is amazing and tastiest of all previous hotels, staff non intrusive and finally the communal spaces such as the bar and reception are both elite and cosy. Will definitely return for a luxury restful week.
We spent a week in a very comfortable upper floor Junior Sea View Suite.
From our welcome to our departure we were impressed by the people, whose constant service culture was impressive. Nothing was too much trouble. The consistency in their training was self evident.
The food on offer in all 3 comfortable restaurants we found to be of exceptional quality and lovely variety. The discreet musical entertainment in each venue was varied, charming and enjoyable. The artists joyful enthusiasm throughout their performances made for our enjoyment.
We enjoyed regular safe walks along the Corniche during both days and evenings. We walked along the sand too. Most of the week the sea was rough with Atlantic rollers providing an added spectacle to the kilometres of sand and sweep of Agadir bay. Our time in the Marina at the end of our 5km walks each way was topped by the delicious ice cream and friendly service at the long established Oliveri cafe.
There are many superlatives about our stay at the Sofitel Thalassa, and the people particularly provided such pleasing service and hospitality.
The well maintained pool areas, and attractive gardens added to our relaxation, whilst the impeccable cleanliness of the public facilities were enhanced by the fragrant evening log fires. The pleasing ingredients were combined in such a way that the overall recipe was perfect for us. Thank you for providing such pleasure.
Our outstanding room maid Fatima ?Zahari was efficient, helpful and in our opinion has so much more to offer your business as hopefully she fulfills her ambition to progress to more senior administrative duties in management.
We had a holiday we shall always remember.
We had a wonderful stay here. The staff in the reception and the spa were very accommodating as we had lots of questions. Food and service in the tapas restaurant and the international buffet were excellent. Buffet breakfast was delicious and shout out to our waiter for regularly checking in and refilling the coffee orders. Great experience would highly recommend.
Just back from a fabulous stay in the hotel for 4 nights, food, staff, spa and room were all exceptional. Really enjoyed our girls weekend away.
The breakfast was exceptional and staff made us the best flat whites in Morocco. The breakfast had lots of choice and tasted great. We ate in the hotel in each of the restaurants and all were fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel for a girls long weekend away.
We chose Laplage Restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary during lunch, and the experience was truly exceptional.
The location is outstanding, right by the sea, offering a breathtaking view and an elegant, relaxing atmosphere. Despite its popularity, the noise level was perfectly comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a calm and intimate dining experience.
The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The entire team was professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
The restaurant was immaculately clean, with great attention to hygiene and overall presentation. In terms of value, the quality of the food, service, and setting fully justified the experience.
A special mention goes to Mohamed Baskar for his warm hospitality and outstanding attention to detail. When our young child became upset, he thoughtfully offered toys to comfort him a refined gesture that reflects true excellence in service.
We also had the opportunity to take beautiful souvenir photos, making this lunch celebration even more memorable.
A remarkable dining experience that we highly recommend and look forward to experiencing again.
I was staying at the hotel next door but came here to use the spa and pool. Lovely spa and great facial. Very helpful receptionist, Sara. My mum had her hair done twice by Said who was brilliant too!
The hotel has a great location and the property itself is nice, but the overall experience was let down by several service issues. Staff seemed to lack proper training, and the buffet food was disappointing. We even noticed that the roast chicken from the previous day appeared to be reused with sauces added, which raised concerns about freshness.
Room service was also below expectations — we had to repeatedly request basic items like water. The room was clean, but there were no coffee refills or water provided without calling reception multiple times. Additionally, the room was quite noisy, as we could clearly hear people walking in the room above.
The spa is not worth the money!
This hotel has potential, but the service and food standards need significant improvement.
