Pros:
The hotel looks fabulous and we were upgraded to a suite which was spacious and very well furnished in modern styling.
The pool areas are spacious and right by the beach where there are guest beds (if you can get one!)
The two restaurants were excellent with good food, service and live music. We didn’t use the buffet restaurant as that not how we like to dine.
Cons
Service was very poor overall. Not the individual staff but the organisation.
Breakfast was like a cattle market at times with dozens of tables not cleared and really challenging to get service. The staff were clearly overwhelmed. Buffet food not replenished, cutlery and crockery shortages.
Service to the room was also poor especially in the first few days. Clean towels not resupplied, Mini bar not restocked etc. It did improve after complaints.
Poolside sunbeds were also an issue with guests competing to put towels out before breakfast and in some cases leaving them empty for hours. There was even a verbal fight over one bed! Not five star at all.
The Spa was ok but as a guest you have to pay 300 MADs (£24) to use the pool! Again service poor having to ask repeatedly for towels.
Overall 4/5 star hotel, 2/3 star service (except the restaurants).
We have just returned from a week at this hotel, the hotel is very clean and nicely designed and the food was very good we dined in all areas and enjoyed what we had. What lets this hotel down considering its a good well known chain is the service at breakfast and in general, which was dreadful, the staff took ages to do anything often forgot, when we sat down no tea or coffee offered at breakfast when it came hot water was luke warm. one day a juice was spilt on the floor but its a case of anyone in a suit is far too important to even start to clean it up so it sits there until someone comes to clean it!!! i mean you have to ask how that can be ok, i mentioned to the girl on the entrance who said someones coming - it was just beneath her and the cashier chap to do anything about it. Pool service not great you have to keep trying to find a member of staff theres always lots of staff hovering around the bar area chatting but not many actually doing much.Ordered a pizza it came cold i mentioned to the waiter he just said sorry and walked off no offer to sort it out. ( this is lack of training on how to resolve issues!) Reception staff also were a mix of just seeming unbothered on the whole and apart from the restaurants at dinner( where the staff were very good) that was generally the theme, too laid back , no-one seemed to want to do much. I dont blame the staff i blame the management and the F&B manager needs to get down to breakfast and see the chaos for himself, tables left uncleared and still left long after breakfast has finished.. just a complete mess, so many people were just getting fed up with it. it seems management at this hotel management hide away in offices are not really looking at whats going on.
It was our 4th trip to agadir over the years & 1st time in this hotel, but i wouldnt return to it as it was dissapointing...there are so many places we can go for the same money, eygpt offers superb service everytime. Hotel management really need to shape up on this one they can only be held accountable for how lacking it is. train the staff!
Loved this hotel. I have stayed in many holiday 5* hotels/resorts including Dubai and the Ritz hotel in London but this is the best. Very clean, beautiful well kept grounds, the food is amazing and tastiest of all previous hotels, staff non intrusive and finally the communal spaces such as the bar and reception are both elite and cosy. Will definitely return for a luxury restful week.
We spent a week in a very comfortable upper floor Junior Sea View Suite.
From our welcome to our departure we were impressed by the people, whose constant service culture was impressive. Nothing was too much trouble. The consistency in their training was self evident.
The food on offer in all 3 comfortable restaurants we found to be of exceptional quality and lovely variety. The discreet musical entertainment in each venue was varied, charming and enjoyable. The artists joyful enthusiasm throughout their performances made for our enjoyment.
We enjoyed regular safe walks along the Corniche during both days and evenings. We walked along the sand too. Most of the week the sea was rough with Atlantic rollers providing an added spectacle to the kilometres of sand and sweep of Agadir bay. Our time in the Marina at the end of our 5km walks each way was topped by the delicious ice cream and friendly service at the long established Oliveri cafe.
There are many superlatives about our stay at the Sofitel Thalassa, and the people particularly provided such pleasing service and hospitality.
The well maintained pool areas, and attractive gardens added to our relaxation, whilst the impeccable cleanliness of the public facilities were enhanced by the fragrant evening log fires. The pleasing ingredients were combined in such a way that the overall recipe was perfect for us. Thank you for providing such pleasure.
Our outstanding room maid Fatima ?Zahari was efficient, helpful and in our opinion has so much more to offer your business as hopefully she fulfills her ambition to progress to more senior administrative duties in management.
We had a holiday we shall always remember.
We had a wonderful stay here. The staff in the reception and the spa were very accommodating as we had lots of questions. Food and service in the tapas restaurant and the international buffet were excellent. Buffet breakfast was delicious and shout out to our waiter for regularly checking in and refilling the coffee orders. Great experience would highly recommend.
Just back from a fabulous stay in the hotel for 4 nights, food, staff, spa and room were all exceptional. Really enjoyed our girls weekend away.
The breakfast was exceptional and staff made us the best flat whites in Morocco. The breakfast had lots of choice and tasted great. We ate in the hotel in each of the restaurants and all were fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel for a girls long weekend away.
We chose Laplage Restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary during lunch, and the experience was truly exceptional.
The location is outstanding, right by the sea, offering a breathtaking view and an elegant, relaxing atmosphere. Despite its popularity, the noise level was perfectly comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a calm and intimate dining experience.
The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The entire team was professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
The restaurant was immaculately clean, with great attention to hygiene and overall presentation. In terms of value, the quality of the food, service, and setting fully justified the experience.
A special mention goes to Mohamed Baskar for his warm hospitality and outstanding attention to detail. When our young child became upset, he thoughtfully offered toys to comfort him a refined gesture that reflects true excellence in service.
We also had the opportunity to take beautiful souvenir photos, making this lunch celebration even more memorable.
A remarkable dining experience that we highly recommend and look forward to experiencing again.
I was staying at the hotel next door but came here to use the spa and pool. Lovely spa and great facial. Very helpful receptionist, Sara. My mum had her hair done twice by Said who was brilliant too!
The hotel has a great location and the property itself is nice, but the overall experience was let down by several service issues. Staff seemed to lack proper training, and the buffet food was disappointing. We even noticed that the roast chicken from the previous day appeared to be reused with sauces added, which raised concerns about freshness.
Room service was also below expectations — we had to repeatedly request basic items like water. The room was clean, but there were no coffee refills or water provided without calling reception multiple times. Additionally, the room was quite noisy, as we could clearly hear people walking in the room above.
The spa is not worth the money!
This hotel has potential, but the service and food standards need significant improvement.
This didn't really feel like a 5 star property - the upkeep of the resort was lacking. The bedroom light near the bed for example came off the wall completely when we tried to switch it on! Breakfast room is pretty dingy and very chaotic in the morning (the pastries were excellent though)
Kids club is really a toddler club - hardly anything to keep slightly older kids entertained
Heated pool was nice
Great family vacation. One of the best holiday experiences- the property is amazing, clean , modern, spacious - most importantly the staff are very professional reflecting Berber culture of hospitality and service. The food prepared by chef Jacques and his team was world class. We were served by exceptional Mustafa in the restaurant for dinner and formed a nice friendship over learning more about Amazigh culture and language.
Beautiful hotel. Great service. I really don’t understand all the negative review about “poor service”. It’s amazing. Super friendly. Helpful. Especially the staff at the buffet. Lahoucine was very very very helpful and made our stay during breakfast and dinner very comfortable. Thanks
visited with friends and found the hotel to be a great choice. The beach was beautiful, and the swimming pool was perfect for relaxing and spending time. There was an excellent selection of restaurants, offering plenty of variety throughout our stay, and breakfast was especially good with lots of fresh and tasty options. The hotel has a good gym and spa, entry to the spa is chargeable with a fee.
The rooms were modern, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which really added to the experience. All in all, a great stay and a hotel we would happily return to and recommend to others.
Great hotel and lovely staff but it was marred by the view from our balcony of the Hotel next door, also a Sofitel in Agadir, a large rubbish tip. Our hotel staff said it was “nothing to do with them” so we should write a review on Tripadvisor! Very strange but otherwise a lovely hotel for a December getaway!!
This was not a good experience, sadly.. the hotel is beautiful, but the staff is not polite and respectful. We were supposed to go here for lunch, but they did not meet ours expectations therefore we chose to leave. My recommendations is to not even bother going here.. you will have a much more enjoyable time if you visit another restaurant, for sure.
The Sofitel Hotel is one of the finest hotels, combining luxury and sophistication. Its elegant design and impeccable service ensure a comfortable and refined stay. The staff is professional and helpful, and the facilities are comprehensive, catering to diverse needs, whether for relaxation or business. Its prime location lends a special atmosphere of tranquility and luxury. An experience worth repeating
We have just had the most amazing 5 day break here, firstly the staff were just amazing, so helpfull and just nice. Greeted round every corner, nothing too much. The pools are just amazing.
The only hotel with immediate beach access.
Amazing time of year to escape the winter blues. Abdul at the pool bar was just great. The food at the beach bar and restaurants is so good. We will be back xx
Some reviews say service slow but I would say it's just the relaxed pace and environment they've created. Just sit back relax x
Amazing hotel in an amazing location for a relaxing luxury holiday. Close to the beach and in a very relaxed setting. The main pool is a bit too cold and prices are a little high but the hotel itself is excellent
Hotel is well appointed very comfortable and nestled in the sand dunes in a lovely location.
Unfortunately the staff in the pool bar & Le Plage restaurant offer very poor service. Waiting for lengthy periods of up to 25 minutes to receive your drink after initially ordering is not acceptable.
Ignoring you whilst sitting at the pool bar waiting to place your order is not acceptable.
We also found the food in the buffet restaurant very bland, one night lots of salad & no dressing available. Not all dishes are labelled so you are unable to see what is on offer.
Reception staff appear unfriendly & do not seem to have the necessary people skills required.
Many seats used for dinning are on sofas which are not suitable or comfortable for that purpose.
One morning we were stuck in the lift for 25 minutes having broken down whilst between floors. There was little or no concern shown by the staff who eventually secured our release.
Needs to improve on the above before we would consider returning
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely hotel.
Food throughout the hotel was delicious and prepared with love. Perhaps we would have preferred less music in the beach bar and just to enjoy the sound of the waves.
Our room was outstanding and we were looked after by 3 polite, smiling, lovely ladies ( Zahira, Leila and Sukehna) who kept the room clean and tidy. Wonderful to have rose petals on the bed greeting us as we arrived.
The concierge seemed a little confused to point out the location of the hotel on a map and we would have preferred more tourist information to be made available in the hotel.
We will not hesitate to recommend the hotel and its facilities to our friends and colleagues.
