Pros:

Great location right in the heart of old town within walking distance to Chinatown, Little India and other areas. The friendliest staff! Everyone was lovely and kind.

I’d recommend without hesitation
Pros:

The staff was so very friendly. Every night a “goodie” was in the room and the bed was turned down

Heritage in the heart of Georgetown
Pros:

Location. An attractive heritage property. Nice breakfast with great fruit selection

Cons:

Climate control not good for sleeping. Happy to remove shoes to enter property and climb stairs. Could be a problem for those less mobile

Boutique hotel in perfetto stile coloniale, posizione centralissima, sembra nuovo, nelle stanze c’è un buonissimo odore, lo staff è gentilissimo, tutto perfetto, esperienza unica e imperdibile

Very central location but somewhat nosy at night mainly from vehicles/ motor bikes. Staff excellent.

Very friendly staff attended to all requests

Cons:

We stayed in Blossum room just above reception . Quite nosy at night when guests returned to accommodation. Road noise was generally high. We had to use ear plugs to mitigate noise. The building is very traditional which meant there are more rules than normal accommodation. May not suit all guests.

A comfortable break in Georgetown
Pros:

My wife and I stayed at the Campbell House hotel for four nights during a Far East tour which took in also Singapore and Langkawi.

The hotel is very conveniently located in central Georgetown and all of the attractions of the town are mainly within walking distance. For our visit to Penang Hill we had to get a short and very inexpensive local bus journey from the Bus Station which was a short walk from the hotel.

Check in was fine and we were given lots of information about places to visit, eating out etc.

Our room was very comfortable and not noisy other than one morning when we were woken up by the drums from a Dragon Dance in a cafe across the road and from firecrackers one evening - we visited during Chinese New Year so these were more of a bonus than a problem.

An à la carte breakfast was served in the Italian restaurant on the ground floor which was OK but there was not a great deal of choice and inexplicably lacked any fruit juices, not sure why. The Indian/Bangladeshi serving staff did seem a bit surly at times, the occasional smile would have been nice.

However these are minor criticisms in what was a most enjoyable stay.

Highly recommended Boutique Hotel
Pros:

Very comfortable boutique hotel, with very helpful and attentive staff. Room was very comfortable, with good air conditioing and large bathroom. Excellent breakfast served each morning. Situated in central Georgetown, ideal for exploring the historic part of the town.

Comfortable and clean boutique hotel. Staff was attentive, helpful, eager to make the stay enjoyable.

Lovely heritage hotel
Pros:

Lovely heritage hotel; well situated, stylish and each room has its own design and feel. The staff make the place very special: kind, professional and enthusiastic. The on site restaurant is excellent: booking advised. Breakfast is Al La carte and a great way to start the day.

Cons:

We stayed in the Loft. It’s a lovely room but it’s on the second floor and then there are another set of stairs to reach the bedroom. It was Ok for us but probably worth mentioning for other travellers.

Super Schmuckstück an perfekter Lage
Pros:

Das Hotel hat unsere Erwartungen definitiv übertroffen. Wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüsst, alles hat direkt geklappt und das Hotel ist echt ein Schmuckstück. Die Zimmer sind alle individuell eingerichtet und sehr geschmackvoll dazu. Für dass es so ein altes Haus ist, fanden wir es erstaunlich ruhig (wir hatten weniger Schalldichte erwartet). Dass es direkt im Haus einen Italiener hat, fanden wir ebenfalls sehr praktisch.

Solide, aber nicht herausragend.
Pros:

Das Hotel punktet mit seiner optimalen Lage inmitten von Georgetown. Der Einrichtungsstil ist außergewöhnlich, das Bett sehr komfortabel, tolle Zimmergröße. Toll fanden wir auch die sehr herzliche, vielleicht etwas zu ausgedehnte Begrüßung mit Erläuterungen zum Ort selbst und zu Penang sowie Begrüßungsgetränk und die Aufmerksamkeit am Nachmittag.

Cons:

Leider ist die Klimaanlage uralt, funktionierte bei Ankunft zunächst nicht und war dann durchgehend sehr laut. Ohne Klimaanlage hält man es bei täglich über 30 Grad jedoch nicht lange auf dem Zimmer aus. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück ist sehr begrenzt und zumindest für groß gewachsene Männer könnten die Portionen größer ausfallen.
