Tout est magnifique
Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay is the perfect weekend getaway. We stayed at La Ferme, which is separate from the main abbey but still gives you access to the entire estate. A shuttle can be called on demand and takes only about five minutes to reach the abbey grounds, making it very convenient or you can also take a bicycle (5 mins) or a 20-min walk.
Our room at La Ferme was on the smaller side, but the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom amenities are by Penhaligon’s, which adds a nice touch, although body lotion isn’t provided. Complimentary water and a Nespresso machine are included. There is no aircoditioning but a fan is provided.
One of the highlights of the stay is the number of activities available. There are complimentary movie and game rooms, bicycles to explore the estate, and weekend yoga sessions, rowing boats on the lake and farm tour to meet the animals. Some activities come at an extra cost, such as Paddle courts, although €100 per hour feels rather expensive.
Breakfast was excellent, with a generous spread and plenty of choice. Guests staying at La Ferme can also opt to have breakfast in the main abbey for an additional €25. Every afternoon, a complimentary tea time is served with a lovely selection of cakes and desserts — a nice treat after a day outdoors.
The restaurants are another strong point. Every meal we had was delicious, and dining here definitely adds to the experience. The only slight disappointment was the swimming pool, which is quite small considering the size of the property.
Service throughout the stay was excellent. The staff were warm, attentive and all spoke English, making everything easy and relaxed. Getting there from Paris is also surprisingly simple, with Uber or Bolt rides taking around an hour depending on traffic.
Overall, Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay is a beautiful place to disconnect, enjoy nature, eat very well and slow down for a few days.
There is no air conditioning, so it will be hot during the summer. And at the Farm, they don't help you with luggage, so you'll have to handle your own.
Fairytale like hotel with incredible grounds. Loved being able to ride bikes or get on a paddle boat and enjoy the lake. Tea time was an absolute delight and the breakfast spread is out of this world.
Bar area food menu didn’t have many options.
there is so much to love about this place. The location, the architecture, the history, the food... L'abbaye allows you to escape and let you feel at home away from home. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They were attentive to any of our asks.
There are so many highlights, from the boats on the lake to the theater on property, and let's not forget the bike rides to go from one place to another, you really don't need to leave the premises. My wife called the place "a disneyland for adults." You can't go wrong when the location has its own arcade place, with many fun classics, and all included throughout your stay. The gym and the spa are first class, and the pool is a great space to relax and refresh. Let's not forget the gouter and the breakfast in the refectory, a gorgeous room, refectory style, that welcomes you for both morning breakfast, as well as 4 O'clock tea.
The abbaye is just a haven, and I can't wait to go back.
There is really nothing not to like about the place. If you were extremely peaky, English is not the mother tongue of the stafff obviously, so some stuffs can get lost in translation or not understood correctly. But that aspect was so minute and had no incidence on our stay.
On our first day, we went to the Italian trattoria, whose food and cocktails offering were fantastic. Our food did run late, and the staff was very prompt to come to us and let us know about the delay. i really didn't mind as we were there on vacation and was enjoying the space, but our waiter insisted on offering us our cocktails. That was a really nice and appreciated gesture.
