Not good
Pros:

Bed was comfortable enough and breakfast was ok. However, staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, air conditioning didn’t work, the WiFi barely worked and when it did, only in a few locations around the hotel. There were no towels the first two days and when they arrived they were the size of a postage stamp (think bathmat). The bar was reasonably priced and staffed til late and the shuttle drivers were reliable and friendly.

Some of these things just come from being in a developing country, but others the hotel could improve, especially sin It’s not a cheap hotel.

Le piège de la réservation pré payée
Pros:

Pros:

Good outer view , a reception and bar with some African artifacts but disappointing rooms for such a location. The breakfast is basic but has a prime central location in Bastos Yaounde. The beds aren't up to scratch, not worthy of class to mention.

Passable
Pros:

Bonne situation géographique de l’hôtel mais l’entretien laisse à désirer.
On ne s’intéresse qu’aux draps de lit
Le sol, le frigo bar et les toilettes sont laissés pour compte

Great Hotel and location.
Pros:

I went to Meumi Hotel and not Meumi Palace and since they have the same owner, I thought i should leave them a review.

I gave them a one star review 4 years ago because the service was poor, water was not working, and everything was old. I left this place thinking I would never come back until a couple weeks ago, when I went on a business trip to Yaounde and a friend of mine told me that they changed things around and are under a new management. The hotel has been remodeled, rooms are good size, bathroom clean, all you can eat breakfast included. Service is also much better. If you had a bad experience like me in the past, i would encourage you to give this hotel a second chance. See pictures below

Worst experience ever
Pros:

1)The passage of rooms were very shady and the lights in passage automatically shuts down every two minutes making it complete dark.
2) Dont you dare to leave your keys elsewhere -they dnt have duplicate keys and eventually have to break open the door which also took 2 hours
3) Lighting in room is less then a night lamp though size was adequate
4) We checked in for two persons negotiated for a certain amount with breakfast-got surprise of my life when at checkout the receptionist asked for extra money for second person's breakfast and they were very audacious enough to claim that this is thr hotel policy breakfast is included for only one person. Probably only hotel in the world with this policy.
5) Worst part -500 USD were stolen from my passport bag - I did the mistake of leaving it at the room
6) For breakfast they served just bread jam butter and a croissant and a two slice of pineapple. After two slices you cannot ask more fruits-as per thr policy.
7)No shampoo, electric kettle ,fridge present in room.
8)A group of prostitutes gather outside hotel gate after 9 to run thr simultaneous business with hotel.

Albergo in peggioramento
Pros:

Could have been so much better!
Pros:

We stayed with a team of 8 in 2 self-catering apartments in the annexe. All in all this arrangement was very good for large group, and having 2 lounges etc. was a bonus for 6 day stay in Yaoundé. Having the back services of the hotel for cleaning, etc. was very good. However the stay was marred by the the fact that we had to change both fridges twice, before we could store food. The kitchen itself is poorly equipped, with very little workspace to prepare food. There was non-existent wifi.

Most importantly was the discourteous, almost insolent behaviour of the team at reception. There insistence on payment as a pre-requisite to actually doing anything was shocking, considering I had paid a deposit a week earlier when I visited.

In conclusion, in a part of the city where most of the hotels are poor in standard, they have a jewel that could be exploited with a little effort, and a lot less arrogance.

Terrace bar yes, elevator no
Pros:

The nicest place is the terrace with adjacent bar on ground floor, facing the parking space. Use also for dinner, breakfast, instead of indoor restaurant. No go: elevator unless you want to get stuck. Almost shure this thing was imported at a time when German was the official (colonial) language.
My room: was OK if you can compromise on comfortable bed, modern bath facilities, decent illumination. internet signal slow to non-existent, head for the terrace instead. My room was mosquito-free.
Food: decent. Bier: cold.

I spent two nights there on a business trip and the hotel worked well for me.
Pros:

The hotel room was clean and fairly large and the staff were friendly. The restaurant had a good selection of meals and the breakfast was very good. The hotel also had a good bar looking out at the courtyard and street that was a relaxing place to hang-out.

Good location (if you need to be in Bastos) but poor hotel
Pros:

This hotel looks very tired and worn out, but then again there seem to be few alternatives in the area (Bastos). The rooms are stuffy and the hygiene standards are not great, particularly in terms of the toilets. The wi fi signal is quite weak on the second floor bu OK on the ground floor. I would not recommend the food, but luckily there are several OK bars and restaurants in the vicinity.

24hr Electric and water
Pros:

Stayed in March.

Hotel was relatively okay but the reception staff weren't pleasant. There was 24hr electric and water which is a selling point in Africa. There was free wifi throughout the hotel but weak in rooms. Food was not great however there are several restaurants and bars nearby serving Cameroonian, French and Turkish food.
All in all the hotel is clean, calm, has a restaurant and is in a convenient locaion.

Good for the money you pay
Pros:

The hotel is ok, rooms not too big but they are more then enough, clean, WiFi is good, Hot water, TV some news, movies and music channels but all in French. Breakfast is poor, coffee tea croissant but you can ask for an omelette for 1000 F or plate of fruits for 2000 F, they have taxi's for the hotel so u can use them safely, no need to be worried of theft. Employees need some time to be friendly but I guess due to the fact that some customers treat them bad, but they are OK in general. If u work with international organisation ask for the special rate ;)

Good value for the price
Pros:

I spent 3 nights there. The rooms are correct and clean. There is air conditioning, TV, a good bed and wifi . Breakfast is included in the price. Dinner can be taken at the restaurant of the hotel. This is located in Bastos area, a safe place in Yaounde surounding with shops and restaurants. If I have the oppertunity, I would go back there. Good value for the price.

Could be so much better
Pros:

It's clean and well located and the restaurant was OK.

The reception staff, who barely speak a word of English, are probably the most unfriendly hotel staff I've ever met. I know I shouldn't, perhaps, expect customer care in Yaounde but they should have had the basics.

The room was full of broken items - too many to list. Most of these things would have been so easy to repair. Plugs hanging out, shower head gone - if I had a spare hour and the equipment I could have done these repairs and the room would have been fine. And I'm hardly a DIY expert!

I suppose the point I'm making is that the management of this hotel just don't care.

Good location at least
Pros:

Stayed here altogether for 5 months while working in the area (2013-2014). Best thing about the hotel is its location in the city with some nice restaurants and stores in walking distance, also felt quite comfortable walking around in the evenings. Be careful with the rooms they offer you as some might be in a terrible condition (missing/broken toilet seats, broken A/C's, moldy walls and my favourite: a missing door!). Once you find a decent room its not too bad, I preferred 3rd or 4th floor as they had refrigerators. Walls were thin so expect some noice from your neighbouring rooms and the rooster next door. WiFi comes and goes and is quite slow so don't count on it.

Don't let the staff's rude(ish) first impression fool you, they were quite pleasant after all, especially the bar staff! Breakfast was very modest with baguette, croissant and coffee/tea but you can get some OK dishes from the menu.

This is the only hotel I've stayed in Cameroon or even Africa so I do not have much to compare with, but if you have to stay in Yaounde I consider it a smart choice, unless you wanna splurge on the Hilton.
