Location
Some of the staff weren’t exactly pleasant and helpful plus; in the room there wasn’t a properly working lock on the bathroom door, and the w. Was far too near the wall.

Lovely room. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
The bar area and lounge outside could have been a little warmer.
Not my first stay at The Birch. The staff are very friendly, the facilities are very clean and it's always a good stay.
Nice staff
Awful nights sleep. Me and my partner both agreed the bed was so uncomfortable. The room was incredibly hot and stuffy too which didn’t help either, the window couldn’t be opened either as we were right next to the car park.
An unscheduled, delightful afternoon at The Birch Hotel right by the Princess Royal Hospital. On a cold, wet afternoon my car broke down and I just had enough momentum to glide into the hotel car park. While waiting for the RAC I borrowed a phone charger from the lively receptionist who told me to make myself at home in the lounge. Settling in for a probable 2 hour wait I was presented with afternoon tea, on the house! There were sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, chocolate fudge fingers, Victoria sponge cake and macaroons all beautifully presented, with fresh strawberries and redcurrants. Each of the tea-treats were delicious, especially the generous smoked salmon sandwich and the chocolate finger. The staff were attentive, but not overly so, and they were concerned that I was going to get home safely (as it turned out, in the tow truck!). If you are visiting the hospital or just looking for a proper old fashioned afternoon tea this is the place to head for.
Friendly, polite staff.
