We were not staying overnight but visited for the first time, to sit and relax in the Lounge and have coffee and later a light lunch.
To be completely honest, the Welcome was not overly welcoming (no warm smiling faces etc) BUT, and this is a big BUT, Jamie in the Lounge was nothing short of marvellous. We would visit again solely based on the service we received from this fabulous member of staff.
I had asked for the music to be turned down, "no problem", my daughter and I had special dietary requirements (which Ockenden Manor refused to accommodate hence we came to The Birch) "no problem". He dealt with our requests in a professional and refreshingly efficient manner.
The lunch was nice, we had a sandwich and crisps which was perfect for what we wanted and the coffee and tea was nice and served with biscuits.
Yes the first impressions may be that the hotel is a bit tired and the welcome isn't overly welcoming BUT go through to the Lounge and be served by Jamie and you will be happy.
Enjoyed another visit to this Hotel. Full breakfasts were enjoyed (other breakfasts are available), comfortable bed, lovely warm bathroom with towels provided and Staff very friendly and accommodating. We're looking forward to our next visit.
Easy to park, great bar area for relaxed meal and watching sports and tasty breakfast.
Went back to the as we for our wedding night then really good food and service. Went back for our 25th wedding anniversary couldn't have been more disappointed. I booked an executive room that quite honestly wasn't even upto the standard of a Premier Inn. And no evening meal no one serving on bar nothing. I am furious wasted money on what was supposed to be a really romantic night and what a terrible experience honestly the worst hotel i have ever been to. Please don't waste your money as I did.
The hotel staff were very nice. They were very friendly and helpful on arrival and when I requested anything. The hotel had some very nice features especially in the comunal lounge. The dining room was nicely laid out and spacious. The waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and we enjoyed a full English both mornings.
Our room and bathroom was very clean with a very comfortable bed.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
It was a 5 minute walk from the event we attended.
Really nice hotel, friendly helpful staff. Good food.
excellent stay
no problems
Three of us went for a afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday.
I have done many afternoon teas in different hotels and garden centres and this was the worst that I have been to. Don't waste good money at the Birch
Hotel it's not worth it.
