Great location 5 mins walk to centre. Well priced. Nice and clean room. Great communal area and 2 kitchens.
The owners are super friendly and helpful.
Parking on site is an added bonus.
Recommend for solo travellers, couples or small groups.
I don’t normally write reviews but I’ve made an exception in this case. I’ve spent the last four weeks travelling up the East Coast, so I’m well used to hostels — but this experience was unlike any other, and not for the right reasons.
The location was great, kitchen appeared clean and the pool area was clean and pleasant (apart from the ashtrays everywhere). However, the rest of my experience was very disappointing.
I arrived before check-in and was told I could wait by the pool, which was fine as I was quite early, but the female bathrooms were out of order. When I asked at reception if there were any alternatives, the staff member told me to “just use the men’s” and to close the door behind me. As a female solo traveller, I felt really uncomfortable, and he didn’t seem to care or offer another solution.
When I finally checked in, my room was shared with long-term residents — it was messy, dirty, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. I couldn’t tell which bed was unoccupied as their stuff was absolutely everywhere. When I asked about switching rooms, I was told that “all of the guests live here” and the receptionist was rude and dismissive. The lack of hospitality and care from staff made the whole experience even worse. I felt so uncomfortable that I ended up in tears, and even then, the receptionist saw me and walked straight past without saying a word. The complete lack of empathy or hospitality was shocking.
I ended up booking alternative accommodation and did not stay here.
If you’re looking for a short-term stay or travelling solo, I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place.
Clean fresh convenient
Perfect for what I needed
If you care about your hygene, avoid this place. My body was itching and I did not know why. Till we find the attached stains on the (i) bedding sheet and (ii0 pilliow of two different beds. They are too old and worn out, I can say these are not washed for at least a week. The owners response instead of aplogy was hanging up on me.
Nice quiet friendly site, central, good view of gardens out the door and very pretty swimming pool. Would.come back again.
Nice place. Clean and loved the communal kitchen. Decent location - a little walk from shops, but not bad. Family loved the foosball.
Beautiful property off the beaten track.
Great property, lovely pool and outdoor area. Rooms spacious and clean.
Accommodation was good, check-in windows of 2pm to 5pm was weird & never heard of. Overall it's decent lodge with lots & lots of noise, will keep you awake in the night!
Perfect room for what we needed! Close to town, nice pool, slightly old but very clean. Comfy beds and pillows
Room Was freshly painted and clean. Recommend for an affordable place to stay in Port Douglas
Clean, updated rooms. Nice facilities and staff, and a good night life. Thank you
Booked for 1 week from the UK assuming it would be like a YHA hostel (which I have stayed in before). The owner looked me up and down and then said “most of our clients are aged 20 and weigh 45 kilos “. He later claimed he was making his comments in relation to health and safety. I decided not to stay there
It was really nice car parking and beautiful room condition.
Clean rooms . Good location . Nice and quiet
Didn't realise it was going to have Karaoke on Monday night, which wouldn't matter if I didn't want sleep, but overall a great spot
Lovely Hotel but with a backpacker's attached. The communal kitchen was always messy. Unfortunately no daily room clean and tidy. But still a pleasant enough place. As with everything else in Pt Douglas, be prepared to pay top dollar and inflated prices
Good hotel for the price. Very basic backpacker style. Good bar and food. A long way out of the main area
Nice clean basic accommodation. Has a really nice communal area and bar. It has a bit of a backpacker vibe but is very quite after 10pm. I had a pleasant stay
