Beautiful location, high end, great food, comfortable rooms, helpful staff
The rooms were a little warm (like everywhere in the country)
Loved the decor and atmosphere. Room was fabulous. Ideal for a relaxing get away.
Very smart, nice bedroom. Nice restaurant staff, requests complied with for dinner.
Bewildered why scallops would be offered with cheese sauce- thankfully served on side as requested !
Disappointing offhand welcome. We discussed in front of reception that a food gift for the following day might need a fridge - even wondered if room would have a fridge but receptionist didn’t tell us if there was a fridge or not nor offer or ask if help was needed.
Warm welcome it was not.
Location, staff, cleanliness, my room and the building itself
Spacious room, quiet, good shower.
Unable to open windows fully during heat wave. Thick quilt on the bed during heat wave. TV signal kept failing when watching football match. Bar prices were high
Beautiful character and the gardens
Nice hotel large bed and ample room
Bathroom the bath too high would be better with a proper shower difficulttoget in and out of and needs updating. Food choice limited and very expensive.
room was lovely, clean and confortable
Buffet/continental breakfast was poor. Fruit selection wasn't great and the pastries were limp. Cooked breakfast was good.
Staff friendly and helpful, room was lovely. Food was great always cater fir my dietary needs. Accommodated a late check out .
If we in the area will only stay here
From the moment we arrived, it became painfully clear that this hotel’s idea of “luxury” is nothing more than marketing gloss.
In boiling hot weather, with an official red heat warning, the room’s only fan was tiny, slow, and barely functional. It sat in one corner of the bed, blowing weak air that didn’t even reach the other side. This is not luxury—this is basic comfort, and they failed spectacularly.
When we politely requested an additional fan, the receptionist responded with an abrupt “no”, offering no solution, no empathy, and no acknowledgement of the extreme conditions. Hiding behind “company/hotel policy” while ignoring the fact that the existing fan was not working properly is not customer service—it’s negligence.
Even after explaining that the heat would make it impossible to sleep, the receptionist remained dismissive and rigid. Only after prolonged discussion and negotiation did they agree to swap the fan, yet still refused to provide a second one. They knew the weather was dangerously hot. They knew the equipment was inadequate. They simply did not care.
Our Experience at this hotel?
A terrible night, no sleep, and a ruined family holiday that we had hoped would be a pleasant break. Instead, we were left exhausted, frustrated, and shocked that a hotel charging premium prices could fail to provide even the most basic amenity during extreme weather.
The fans were old, slow, and not fit for purpose, yet the hotel still charged luxury rates. The staff’s attitude—rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help—made the experience even worse.
The lack of hospitality extended beyond the reception desk and into the restaurant. At every point of contact, staff appeared unwelcoming, disengaged, and indifferent, which is the opposite of what any guest expects—especially in a hotel that markets itself as “luxurious.” Instead of warm greetings, helpful attitudes, or even basic courtesy, we were met with cold responses and an atmosphere during our stay.
