Maybe give massage to every room to be quiet after 10pm

All staffs are super friendly, good food and super clean

Cons:

I stayed for a long weekend, so many kids running round in the corridors during days and nights, other neighbors so noisy ‘feels like ibu ibu arisan in the room’ the sounds gone through

Kan haast niet beter
Pros:

Heel vriendelijk en gastvrij personeel. Zeer kindvriendelijk en leuke playground voor de kinderen. Ontbijt was erg uitgebreid; bijna meer keuze dan bij een all-you-can-eat restaurant. Grote schone en comfortabele kamer. Mooie groene tuin met zwembaden achter het hotel.

Cons:

Bed was wel heel breed maar net 5cm tekort (kwam ook door de grote kussens). Van binnen ziet het hotel er luxe uit, de buitenkant lijkt meer op een oude Oostblok-flat maar daar heb je geen last van 😉

An Exceptional Stay — Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta

Our stay at the Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived, we felt the special atmosphere of this hotel — a perfect blend of history and modern comfort. Everything here radiates style, serenity, and genuine hospitality.

The room was superb — spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated, combining classical elegance with contemporary luxury. We stayed on the 6th floor, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the lush, perfectly maintained gardens. In the evenings, with the soft lights and the gentle sound of the fountains, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The breakfast was truly excellent, offering an impressive variety of both Indonesian and Western dishes, all fresh and of high quality. From juices, fruit, and warm dishes to the live cooking station — everything was perfectly prepared and presented. What touched me most was the personal attention from the staff: at breakfast, Emma greeted me by name, even though we had never met before. Small gestures like that show just how attentive and caring the team is toward their guests.

The staff in general deserve the highest praise. Everyone — from the people at the lobby and housekeeping to the restaurant team — was friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive. You are greeted with a smile everywhere, and you can feel that they take real pride in making guests feel at home.

The atmosphere throughout the hotel is calm and refined, with soft background music that sets exactly the right mood. The pool is inviting, the gardens are beautifully maintained, and everywhere you sense that this hotel is managed with dedication and care.

The Royal Ambarrukmo is not just a hotel — it is a place where tradition and modern hospitality meet in perfect harmony.
In short: highly recommended, and without a doubt one of the best hotels we stayed at during our journey through Indonesia.

What could use some attention is the noise from chairs being moved on the floor above us, which caused some disturbance. And on Sunday, the pool area was already busy from six o’clock in the morning onwards.

A pleasant hotel, friendly staff and a good place to stay when visiting Yogyakarta.
Pros:

Breakfast was good with lot of traditional choices. Hotel is located near a Mall to give tourists an option for shopping and fast food to get a break from sightseeing. Property is family friendly with a nice garden, play area for kids and large pool.

Cons:

Bathroom could have been bigger.

Disappointment due to the bad service.

This hotel is far from 5-star standards — especially when it comes to service, which is surprisingly poor and urgently needs improvement. It cannot be compared to similar hotels in Bali or Jakarta. I believe I have a good basis for comparison, having stayed here for 4 nights and having lived in Jogja for 5 years. Staff offer plenty of smiles but also plenty of excuses. In true 5-star hotels, service is what earns the rating — here, the lack of genuine care puts the category into question.

Initially smooth, until the receptionist suddenly stopped addressing me and began discussing details such as breakfast and gym hours only with my Indonesian wife — despite the booking being in my name and the fact that we had spoken in Indonesian from the start. Why?

A disappointing experience. Communication was minimal, and the therapist seemed unsure how to perform a proper foot reflexology massage. She attempted to switch to back and shoulder massage without asking, which I declined — there was a reason I chose a specific treatment.
No basic touches expected at this price point: slippers not prepared for use, no inquiry about massage intensity, and constant clock-watching every two minutes as if she wanted to finish early.

Dinner

On our last night, we dined at the hotel — a mistake. No greeting, no guidance to a table. Even budget hotels handle this better. We sat outside, ignored for 5–10 minutes until my wife went inside to get attention. The bartender showed visible annoyance when approached.

My meal arrived 15 minutes before my wife’s, with the excuse that “orders are queued” — again, delivered with smiles but no real solution. Mid-meal, complimentary desserts appeared, seemingly leftover from the buffet. It felt like an afterthought, not genuine hospitality. No manager addressed the poor service.

Food quality was mediocre — easily found elsewhere for a fraction of the price.

De entree en openbare ruimtes zien er mooi uit. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk.

Cons:

De kamer en zeker de badkamer waren erg klein. Er was een grote bruiloft (en wij begrepen dat die heel vaak zijn bij dit hotel) met heel harde muziek. Onze kamer was aan de kant van het zwembad en de deuren sluiten niet heel goed; er was veel lawaai. Dit was erg jammer en ik zou daarom dit hotel niet snel aanbevelen als je van rust houdt. En overall, als ik het vergelijk met alle andere hotels die we hadden op Java, dan vond ik hier de prijs/kwaliteitverhouding het slechtst.
