Try the Palomar in Phoenix
Pros:

Our stay at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar in Phoenix was exceptional. We wanted a hotel near the Chase Field ballpark, which is a 15-minute walk away, but also found the rooms clean and comfortable, the food excellent and the staff friendly. If your journeys take you to downtown Phoenix, I highly recommend the Palomar.

High standards definitely met
Pros:

Beautiful, mid-size hotel in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. Great attention to detail. The rooms are ample and well-maintained. Everything works properly. The staff is super attentive and friendly.
There's a great rooftop with a pool and lounge area. Unfortunately, the cocktails there were disappointing (think more spring break and less high-end).

Perfect location for attending ballgames
Pros:

Fantastic location if attending Suns or Diamondbacks game. Great little boutique hotel right in the heart of the action. Comfortable rooms, very clean, and could be a super cool pool vibe if children were not allowed as the pool is extremely small and when filled with children the enjoyment fades for adults seeking a quiet place in which to relax. Only real negative is that they don't provide complimentary water in any form in rooms so be prepared to bring your own or pay a hefty price for a bottle of water. In all, this hotel hits on most of the marks!

I came for a relaxing getaway, and this hotel made it happen.
Pros:

The room was beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The rooftop was also beautiful, relaxing, and a great place to unwind. I would definitely stay here again

Cons:

My room location was right above the roof top, so I could hear the music all night.

The best hotel in Downtown
Pros:

Our staycation at The Kimpton Palomar was nothing short of spectacular!

The hotel is beautiful and could not be in a better location, in the heart of downtown Phoenix. The room was breathtaking! My mom loved the huge soaking tub with bath salts and my dad was immediately drawn to the fully stocked minibar! Anything else we forgot the hotel had available at no extra charge. The amenities were fantastic! Nothing better than a glass of wine during social hour enjoyed poolside at the rooftop bar. But the staff here are what consistently make staying a 5 star experience!

Donna and her team went above and beyond to make our visit nothing short of exceptional! When I told her we were there to celebrate my parents birthday she offered a hand written birthday card and chocolate dipped strawberries which they loved! In my opinion Donna is a beacon of IHG and Kimpton Palomar’s commitment to excellence, I honestly can’t thank her and her team enough for making my family feel so special. The entire team was top-notch, from Sayan helping me secure the perfect low-noise room after booking online, Alfonso who was always smiling while helping guests or backing up his team and of course, Marco for letting us pick the best seats at Eden! We loved our stay and will be definitely be back anytime we’re staying in the downtown area!

For the hotel, must go-
Pros:

I want to give the Kimpton its own review; separate from the Blue Hound and the Eden, because the hotel itself absolutely deserves it.

I arrived at noon on a Friday after driving in from Las Vegas, and Dylan at the front desk set the tone immediately. Before I could even ask, he let me know there were no suite upgrades available but offered me a King Premium and got me checked in on the spot. As a solo traveler who had just made that drive, being able to walk straight to a room and crash was everything. He took a few minutes to catch me up on what had changed since my last stay; the breakfast situation being the highlight of that conversation, which turned out to be… relevant.
The next morning, after a rough experience at breakfast, I mentioned something at the front desk and Donna, the front-end manager, stepped in immediately, not defensively, but genuinely wanting to understand what happened and make it right. That kind of accountability is rare. Saturday night brought a similar hiccup at the bar, and Sayan handled it the same way: professionally, without hesitation.
The room was exactly what I’ve come to expect from Kimpton, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. But the real story here is the staff outside the restaurant. Dylan, Donna, Sayan, these are hospitality professionals who actually care, and it shows. The hotel itself earns every star.

Highly recommend Palomar Kimpton - best people ever!
Pros:

We stayed for the nights of May 7-8, 2026. From start to finish, we were treated like family and best friends! Our front desk hosts, Donna and Jessica, are amazing - not only super professional but also very kind, thoughtful and generous! The hotel is awesome - the bar, Blue Hound restaurant, and the pool are all fantastic. We got free passes to the Eos Gym across the street which is a great gym. We would highly recommend staying here for your next trip to Phoenix. Many thanks to Donna and Jessica!! ❤️

Perfect location for downtown Phoenix and Chase Field
Pros:

This was my second visit to this property, with both stays having been booked using the American Express Hotel Collection, which provided free daily breakfast and a $100 hotel food credit. Self-parking is very conveniently located right next door.

Both times I stayed here I received a wonderful room upgrade, and during my most recent visit in April 2026 (which visit this review pertains to) I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite in a huge corner room that had an amazing amount of space and lovely views out every window.

I was in Phoenix to attend a few Diamondbacks games, and the walk from the hotel to Chase Field is very easy and under 10 minutes. My room had a great air conditioning system that kept the room plenty cool even though it was in the mid-90s on the day of my arrival. And the room was pretty quiet, meaning that you couldn't hear anything from any other rooms, just a little bit of street noise (which tends to be inescapable these days in most city hotels, thanks to noisy motorcycles and souped-up sports cars driving down city streets doing the zoom-zoom).

My two breakfasts at the Blue Hound Kitchen were both great, and I had an early dinner there during the second day of my visit to use up my $100 property credit. Dinner was great too. I tried the Burrata with fried green tomatoes, and the Berkshire Tomahawk Pork Chop for my entree. The collard greens accompanying the pork chop were amazing, as was the pork chop itself.

My only complaint about IHG hotels is that having status doesn't guarantee that you'll get free water bottles at check-in, the way you would as someone with status at a Marriott or Hyatt (or sometimes even Hilton) property in my experience. Fortunately, there is a full supermarket just across the street from this hotel, making it quite easy to get some reasonably priced water bottles nearby.

As my other reviews on here demonstrate, I love Kimpton properties and stay at them quite often. This is certainly one of my favorite ones. I would very much look forward to staying here again someday soon.

The Best Hotel in Downtown Phoenix
Pros:

The staff, especially Sayatan & Dylan went above and beyond the call of duty to make my stay memorable! From giving great advice on the area to taking care of all of my needs. The room was always made up perfectly and everything was excellent. The location is amazing and close to everything especially the Mortgage Matchup Center to watch my Suns! The Bar Staff at the pool bar are also fantastic. Everyone remembers me when I go back and they make me feel like a King! This is one of my favorite hotels on the mainland. I live in Hawaii and when I come in to watch my Suns play, it feels like my home away from home! Especially when I stay in the Presidential Suite!

Restaurant food and service- Excellent!
Pros:

Travelled 20. hours to get to the hotel, I did not expect to have to wait 15-20 minutes for my reservation to be found.
The pool bar staff were average at best.Sitting and waiting for a drink and then going to the bar to have to wait again-not top notch.

Cons:

see above

Great room, horrible location
Pros:

Spotless room. Soft bed, sheets and pillows. Very hot water

Cons:

The location sucks. There's no direction of where to park in the underground garage or what elevator to take. Absolutely ridiculous. If you dont get a pass from the reception, it's $90 a day.
The hotel is in a strip mall. I would NEVER have booked it if I knew.
Food was OK, not worth the price.
