Nice hotel but stay away from the first floor until they update it. Bread selection was really tough
Pros:

Our room was large and we really appreciate the nicely furnished lobby. And the location is great as well as the staff. There area laundry facilities, which is very handy. Beds were comfortable.

Cons:

The room was very dated. In particular, the 30+ year old bathroom fixtures were difficult to operate because all lubrication was long gone. We didn't realized we'd be getting such an old room when we booked it. It was on the first floor which is apparently the last one to be updated.

The breakfast wasn't as good as we remembered from previous stays, mainly because of the bread selection. Virtually all of it was extremely tough and I actually broke a tooth because of it despite being careful. Everything else was pretty good, such as the muesli, meats and cheeses. The filter coffee was very weak, so we ordered "cafe-creme" which is made with an espresso machine at no extra cost.

Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Engelberg. It had a cozy Alpine charm while still offering plenty of space to relax and feel comfortable during our stay.

The location is excellent and made it very easy to get around town. One of the highlights each day was the breakfast — it was delicious with a great variety to start the morning.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a lovely place to stay

Cons:

Beds were a bit hard.
