Lovely Hotel but internet nearly non- existent!

Internet in the studios almost non existent. Not so great in the hotel rooms either. If you arrived at the later stages of breakfast - there was a shortage of things which didn’t get topped up .

Beautiful setting and lovely room, some elements fell short of the ambition

Beautiful setting, main building / lobby and guest room were tastefully decorated and of a high standard. The spa treatments were very good.

Cons:

Breakfast was of average quality for the standard expected of such a hotel, the service indifferent. In general, the cuisine was variable, with an excellent lunch followed by what was an average evening meal. In general, the focus seemed to be on the appearance of the food (to match the elegant surroundings) rather than its quality.

Der Schein trügt
Pros:

Der abendliche Check-in hat sehr gut funktioniert, und wir wurden gut bei der Last Minute Buchung einer Wanderung unterstützt. Es gibt genug Parkplätze beim Hotel. Die organisierte Etna Summit Wanderung mit Gruppo Guide Etna Nord war spitze. Die Anlage rund um das Hotel ist sehr schön.

Die Qualität vom Bett war sehr gut und müde von der Wanderung sind wir trotz Bar-Lärm bald eingeschlafen. Leider hat der Nachtportier dann um 5 Uhr morgens Jazz gehört mit diversen Saxophon Solis, auch das war im Zimmer gut zu hören. Er hat die Musik aber ausgeschalten, nachdem wir ihn darauf hingewiesen hatten.

Das Frühstück war gut, der Service allerdings zum grossen Teil unfreundlich und sehr langsam.

Cons:

Wir waren über zwei Wochen in Sizilien unterwegs, haben unterschiedliche Hotels erlebt, aber dieses hat uns mehr als negativ überrascht. Man könnte es zusammenfassen unter «der Schein trügt». Die Lage ist sehr gut, um die Nordseite des Etna zu bewandern, aber der Service ist durchzogen und nur teilweise bemüht.

Wir sind mit einem kleinen Hund gereist und hatten ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss, die einen winzigen «Garten» ohne Ausblick haben und ein barrierefreies Bad. Die Dusche ist trotz barrierefreier Zugänglichkeit winzig.

Es wird Abendessen als Zimmerservice angeboten, was wir dankbar angenommen hatten. Nachdem der Kellner den Teller Pasta über unseren Wanderrucksack gekippt hatte, wurden wir auf den neuen Teller Pasta (der dann nur mehr kalt serviert wurde) eingeladen. Die Pizza war eine Frechheit – erinnerte an eine Fertigpizza.
Nach dem Pasta-Unfall wurde der Boden und der Rucksack nur oberflächlich gereinigt und erst nachdem wir sehr verärgert nach einer Reinigung des Rucksackes gefragt hatten (den wir am nächsten morgen für die Wanderung brauchten), wurde uns Putzmittel gebracht. Wir durften den Rucksack dann selber putzen!

Die Gäste des Restaurants müssen an den EG-Zimmern vorbeigehen und auch die Hotelbar ist auf der gleichen Ebene der Zimmer. Da die Türen der Zimmer von minderwertiger Qualität sind, fühlt es sich an, als wären die Restaurant- und Barbesucher im Zimmer. An ein ruhiges Einschlafen war nicht zu denken.

Am nächsten Morgen wollten wir um Punkt 7:30 Uhr frühstücken, um rechtzeitig aufbrechen zu können. Leider war das Frühstück noch nicht annähernd parat, obwohl der offizielle Start um 7:30 hätte sein sollen. Hier trennt sich ein sehr gutes von einem unterdurchschnittlichen Service, denn die Wanderung wurde ja über das Hotel vermittelt und damit war es auch bekannt, dass es Frühaufsteher am nächsten Tag gibt.
