The staff was very pleasant and went out of their way to help. We found Gallup to be the same for shopping and eating.
Night auditor was very friendly and the room was nice and comfortable!
The pool and breakfast
The hotel is an older property which is not particularly well maintained in a less than desirable town. We arrived at the hotel around 11 pm. As per hotel policy (which I misread), we were charged $50 for 2 dogs. When we got to Room 219, the heater was making a loud squealing sound which was in addition to the noisy Interstate. I called the front desk and the clerk said she could hear the heater. I was told that my dog fee would be removed because of the heater, since there was no other room. We left the heater off in spite of it being quite cold. The next morning the manager, Art, refused to honor what I was told and said that I was lying which is not true! I would have been happier to be moved and have heat. Avoid this property if possible!
Breakfast was outstanding!
There are no lights next to the entrance. We drove right by them
I stayed in town for a wedding, and my relatives and I each had our own rooms at the same hotel. The area where the elevator was located was very cramped, it honestly felt like waiting in a tiny closet while hauling luggage on a cart, with people coming and going at the same time. The ice machine on the 3rd floor wasn’t working, so I had to go all the way down to the 1st floor to get ice. After a five-hour drive and four hours decorating a reception hall, all the extra walking and carrying was pretty exhausting.
On the positive side, I appreciated that there were multiple breakfast options to choose from. However, the woman in charge of cleaning and serving breakfast was noticeably rude toward Native American guests. What made this even more disappointing is that she appeared to be Native herself. In my experience, some Native people can sometimes act overly familiar or dismissive toward others just because they share the same culture. This was my first time here, and I don’t know her personally, so it was uncomfortable. Regardless, every guest is a paying customer and deserves to be treated with the same level of respect.
For example, my aunt and I were waiting to use the pancake machine when the employee suddenly shouted, “Oh my God!” and closed the food warmers abruptly, even though they were already open before we got there. It felt unnecessary and like the attitude was directed toward us. Then, the next morning, another aunt of mine, who also booked a room, went down around 6:30 a.m. and politely asked what time breakfast started. The same employee snapped at her, saying, “Clearly the sign says 7 a.m.!” My aunt was really surprised by the attitude.
I understand mornings can be busy, but guests shouldn’t be made to feel uncomfortable. A little kindness goes a long way, and I hope management takes a closer look at how guests are being treated during breakfast service.
Breakfast was good. Staff was pleasant and professional
Location was convenient, the hotel was nice with several amenities, and the breakfast was good.
Pillows and bed weren't too comfortable, very firm mattress.
The buffet was pretty limited.
