Dark, dingy, dated, run down. Wouldn’t recommend. The Hilton across the street is much nicer. Zero staff presence to even lodge the complaints we had.
We went to the hotel for a banquet. I have NEVER had such a bad experience in my life. For starters, the heat wasn't working in the greenhouse room and it was FREEZING. We all had to wear our coats. They had one tiny space heater on each side of the room as their solution. When talking to the manager about it she was very condescending and rude. Did not seem to care one bit that guests were uncomfortable. She said "the thermostat isn't working. We called and no one came." Then you go out of your way to get MULTIPLE space heaters or you figure something else out. It's 23 degrees outside. It was 56 degrees in that room. To add insult to injury, we never got fed. We were told there would be "appetizers served throughout the night"-first off there wasn't even a crudite table with cheese etc. as one would ecpect when it's just an appetizer event. Ok fine. But literally we didn't not see one person with a serving tray. I asked a waitress at 9:30 when we would be fed because our banquet started at 7 and we never got any food and she said "we've been serving appetizers all night" - well apparently they were only serving them to people on one side of the banquet room. If you were on the far side you were out of luck. So not only were we freezing, but we were also starving. Not to mention they had TWO bartenders for about 300 people. It took almost 40 minutes to get a drink. Additionally - there were out of order signs on the ice machines, hallways were dirty and freezing and the staff was downright rude. Absolutely do not advise anyone to host an event here. It was the worst event I've ever been to and for $120 I'm disgusted at the awful service we received.
Not good!!!! 15 minutes into checking into the room we find the bed infested with bugs. Multiple bugs!!!! Go to front desk to request new room to be told they have one left but it’s a downgrade, but no offer to price change. We take the room because I’m not sleeping with the bugs. New room…… tub is broke, fireplace does not work, tv remote does not work, called front desk to request new batteries to be told they do not have any 😡 so here we sit in a broken room with no tv until Monday because I’ve already paid for the room . Would never recommend and will not return
I would have liked the customer service to be better
Couldn’t tell if I was sleeping on the floor or the bed; the mattress was a rock. Dirty floor as well.
It’s a little tired. The upgraded Jr suite was nice. Staff was less than engaged. The homeless numbers around this area is getting to be uncomfortable.
Downtown Buffalo isn't what she was when the Lafayette Hotel was built. I would not want to arrive or depart this hotel after dark, at least not alone. By daylight it is okay. This is an old hotel but the condition is pretty nice. The staff was very helpful and available. Parking is about a block away in a garage which again is alright by daylight. The bed was comfortable and the water was plentiful and hot in the shower. The experience here is a nice mix of stately old Hotel Grandeur with mostly updated furnishings.
Loved the room. The bed was comfortable. Loved the fireplace.
Best staff at the reception area:-
Purity

Antony
These staff offer excellent customer services to clients. During my stay each one-off them was always going out of their way to guide me and even guided me on how to get uber services for local movement.
When i checked in, a couple was in my room sleeping. The front desk didn't have an explanation. They moved me but I wanted to leave. The hallway carpets are dirty, the elevator was dirty. This isn't 3.5. It's 2.5 at best.
The hotel is in a great, clean area in Downtown Buffalo. Walking distance from restaurants and sightseeing. The hotel is gorgeous! Room are decent.
Very nice historic hotel. Lots of charm and spacious rooms!
.
Cool old hotel. Nice staff at check in. Rooms are very dated. Bed was too soft (uncomfortably so) and the curtains didnt keep the light out of the room. Expected much nicer for the price paid for the room.
Could be a very nice boutique hotel. Broken items in the hotel rooms, found other people’s items in places that should have been cleaned before our arrival.
Nice old style hotel
Not good
The room was immaculately clean and the towels and bedding were top notch. However…the hotel itself is just
Beautiful hotel. Small rooms great staff. There is so much it can be done to revitalized this beautiful hotel. No restaurants on site
The lobby is dimly lit, and it looks really outdated. I understand the decore/era but everything is brown, very drabby.
The young lady that checked us in, her demeanor was very much like the decor, drabby.
