Room stated a sea view but sadly due to a very large flat roof below our room, we could not sea the beach.
Absolutely delightful stay at the Cooden with my elderly parents and other family members. They were absolutely fantastic. The rooms were superb, dinner was outstanding and the staff were so professional, polite, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful
We were on the second floor and there was no lift I thought the lack of a lift should have been emphasised, I found it nowhere on the details I was given.
My wife struggled with so many stairs and this is the reason I am not giving a hire mark.
great staff
too warm!
I had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Even before I arrived, I requested a sea view room, and Ali responded to my message straight away—even late at night—which I really appreciated. When I arrived, the room was exactly as I had hoped.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Ali in person, and she is truly lovely and kind. She went above and beyond to help with a concern I had about extending my stay, finding a solution quickly and efficiently. Her level of care made a real difference to my experience.
All the staff across the hotel, restaurant, and spa were courteous, kind, and incredibly accommodating. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend this place to everyone.
The food was very good both evening meal and breakfast.
We were informed that as we had booked our room through you (a 3rd party) we were not entitled to use the spa facilities unless we paid £60 per person which was outrageous. This should be stipulated clearly in your advertising of this hotel and spa venue. We were given an awful room in bad need of renovating with an obscured sea view. We wouldn’t recommend to others sadly.
Unfortunately we had issues with the hotel
Our dinner got forgot about
Booked Sunday roast and it took 45 mins to bring dessert
Booked a spa and paid for 60 mins got 50 mins
The list goes on
Loved the property was just the issues
Location and staff were all great
That i paid 244 for an accessible room when I work with complex disabilities. I didn't appreciate a plastic chair in a wet room. Paying that sort of money, i would have appreciated a nice room. There was no mention on the site of the room being an accessible one. When i work in that field it was just a reminder of work not a relaxing night. I live in Hastings and just needed a change of scenery and a luxurious little break. The room was not what I expected and a function going on meant I checked out around 1 a m because of the noise..not liking my room added to my wanting to leave. I was very disappointed and of course didnt get the breakfast I'd paid for. So not a good idea
I recently stayed at this hotel and overall I’d rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
First, the positives—because there are quite a few. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location is a real highlight. Being directly on the beach made for a stunning setting and a very relaxing stay. Breakfast was fantastic, with a great mix of continental options as well as a cooked breakfast that was done really well. The staff throughout the hotel were genuinely lovely—always smiling, welcoming, and very helpful. The spa is also beautiful. It is on the smaller side, but the treatment I had was excellent, and the spa staff were just as friendly and professional as the rest of the.
That said, there were a few issues that brought my rating down. As a solo female traveller, safety is something I pay close attention to, and there were a couple of concerns here. My room was in an outbuilding accessed directly from the car park. There were two doors—one from the car park into the building and another into my room—and both used the same key. On multiple occasions, the external door from the car park was left open, which didn’t feel secure. On top of that, the room doors don’t lock automatically, so you have to remember to lock it both when you leave and when you’re inside. If you forget, the room is accessible, which is not ideal and did make me feel uneasy at times Secondly, while the main hotel areas were modern and well maintained, my room didn’t quite match that standard. It was clean, but there were clear signs that maintenance hadn’t been kept up to the same level.
Lastly, I had an issue on my first night with the Wi-Fi, TV, and phone not working. When I went to reception (as the phone in my room also didn’t work), I was told no one was available to fix it and that “an 18 year old from the kitchen, who’s quite good with computers” might come up—but no one ever did. I was left without Wi-Fi, TV, or a working phone that night. This was resolved the following morning after I went back to reception, and a maintenance staff member was sent up. I understand it was a Sunday and staffing may have been limited, but the lack of communication and urgency was disappointing.
Booked quite late but good deal. Didn't pay for a sea view...maybe wish I had...had a view of the car park and rail station, and weirdly part of the window had window film to block any view. Nice breakfast and evening meal. Lovely terrace for a drink out in the sun. Nice bedroom and ensuite. Walkable to Bexhill on Sea, but there is the bus/train.
Everything was lovely and fine, recommend to everyone.
There nothing to say i didn't liked.
All interiors were fantastic and the obvious attention to detail was exceptional and the refurb which obviously done quite recently was very good. Dinner staff were totally professional and a real asset.
Breakfast was perfect as well and staff were very responsive to any request.
There was only two minor gripes, the hotel was very remote from other pubs/restaurants etc, and there was a problem with the shower door not quite closing properly which meant a lot of excess water on the floor as you stepped out of the shower.
Wonderful place, loved the outside area, once you have managed to get out of the wind. Our room was great and had a very good view out to sea, but sadly there is a but in regard to this, as when we returned on one of our days out only to find that, it still hadn’t been cleaned, plus our bed hadn’t been made by 2.45pm.
The other point we would mention is that the evening menu could do with a change and lots of chips, as it was exactly the same the 4 nights we were there, plus members of waiting staff need to be made aware that plates both at breakfast and evening meals needed to be removed when empty. At breakfast one morning we had to move our empty plates after 20 minutes to a empty table so enabling us to sort out our toast and marmalade, despite staff walking pass us numeral times.
Sadly we will not return, despite this being our second visit.
.
Stopped off for lunch as a beautiful sunny day and the Coden hotel has the best view. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was amazing. We will certainly be back:
Well located on Cooden Beach, spacious rooms with modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. Good restaurant and helpful staff.
This was our fourth visit and we were not disappointed. The restaurant staff - Paul, Angela are very customer focused . Equally the reception staff , Ali , Tyler and the team are great . Well worth a visit if you’ve never been . Lovely staff and a great location
