A hidden gem
Pros:

We have recently discovered this gem of a hotel and its delightful staff. We have visited just to enjoy a coffee in beautiful surroundings. We keep coming back because the service is excellent especially from Howie Clarke and Daniel Millward. Nothing is too much trouble and we feel so relaxed here. Thank you very much for everything you do. It is appreciated. Mr & Mrs McLaren

Stanbrook
Pros:

Been on many occasions! Very nice before but on this occasion half way through meal a group of women with small yelping dogs on long leads sat right next to us allowing the leads to extend out. Not pleasant when eating. Unhygienic. Thankfully they moved to another table away from us. Also I found it much noiser than previously. On arrival I noticed all disabled spaces taken up by cars some without badges. I will think twice before going again.

What a gorgeous hotel, an old convent
Pros:

What a truly lovely experience. It’s a beautiful hotel seeped in history, once an old convent. It’s huge! It’s got a lovely warm atmosphere, you're free to explore the hotel, with its beautiful church, old library, ballroom, nun’s powder room and much much more. The grounds are lovely too. Gorgeous breakfast. The staff are all lovely and friendly, with excellent professional customer service. Our room had a 4 poster bed which was so comfortable and it’s a dog friendly hotel too! Can highly recommend.

Sour clotted cream
Pros:

Oh dear what a disaster. I took a friend for her Birthday, she had never been before. We had the Afternoon Tea with Champagne. The clotted cream had a sour taste, and had a strong acidic smell. The waitress kindly changed it for us, however the replacement crust was totally sour. We have both had the most horrendous upset tummies and cramping pains , which we are both still unwell 24 hours later. I telephoned the hotel when I got home and spoke to the Duty Manager who appeared to have very little empathy, I was told the General Manager would telephone the next morning. 24 hours had passed no call, so I telephoned again, was told he was on a call and would call back. Again NOTHING. I emailed head office complaints dept. Again no response. Not even one line of apology and to say they were looking into it.
I have been to this hotel numerous times and indeed my Son had his wedding here, and truly thought it would be a memorable treat for my friend, it is certainly Memorable………

Delicious afternoon tea - indulge and enjoy!
Pros:

Delicious afternoon tea in a beautiful venue. The hotel building obviously has a lot of history behind it (check out the very grand wash rooms!) and is situated amongst the most lovely grounds. Luxurious setting and atmosphere; staff friendly and helpful. Tasty selection of food on the tea stand and a wide range of beverages. Only feedback would be to perhaps offer a more savoury option for customers who are unable to eat lots of creamy, sweet cakes … but I guess that’s what afternoon tea is all about! Indulge and enjoy!

An incredibly stunning hotel experience
Pros:

What an amazing place. We came here for the weekend for a family birthday get together.
You are wowed as you drive the entrance to this delightful hotel. The hotel is vast with the beautiful passages to the various parts of the hotel. The abbey itself is breathtaking and at night is lit up and a must visit. We were more than happy opting for a basic room but other guests who had opted for larger rooms were overwhelmed with what they had.
All the staff were exceptional with being welcoming and the service they gave us was impeccable. Truly cannot find anything to fault. Great cosy bar. Superb evening dining and a fabulous breakfast in the morning. 🤷‍♂️ What more can you ask for. The hotel is in a beautiful area of the Malvern Hills and sadly we did not have the time to properly explore the stunning area of the UK. From the experience we had we will visit this hotel again soon and try to explore the surrounding area. Thank you to all the staff for making our weekend brilliant.

Our third stay but not our last.
Pros:

If you haven't been here before, you'll be blown away by the building. It's a very special place to stay. I don't know what the small bedrooms are like but the superior are excellent. Spacious with a comfortable bed and a great shower.
No complaints about the bar meals and breakfast. Both excellent. Lovely grounds too.
A very reasonable offer for a stay at the moment is really good value.

25.05.2025 wedding
Pros:

Stanbrook Abbey (Caylie) in particular, could not do enough for us with regards to planning and organising our wedding day. The service was super flexible towards our particular needs and the customer service was brilliant. Our wedding coordinator on the day (Clyde) could not do enough for us, was super polite and very friendly and reassuring in those moments brides need it. Only bit of criticism would be that on the day other staff members could’ve been either better informed/organised in knowing how the day was suppose to run but it was nothing we noticed on the day. More when we look back. This would be something to double check during your handover meeting but to be honest, the day before the wedding, amongst the excitement, I was not thinking clear enough to double and triple check.

One slip - could so easily have been a 5!
Pros:

We stayed over Christmas for four nights. It was impressive almost every way. The staff were well trained, cheerful, helpful and interested, providing excellent service and attention to detail. The room was comfortable - we requested a lamp,to read by - the lighting was not bright enough! - and an extra arm chair both of which were supplied to our delight. In every way our stay was wonderful with wonderful food and would have scored an easy 5 BUT FOR ONE EXCEPTION- the main course at Christmas Day Lunch was a disaster. It looked good - with a casually folded slice ofTurkey breast beaming seductively from the surrounding turnkey slices and lovely vegetables. The trouble was revealed when I decides an unfold the seductive slice -only to find that rigor mortis had set in - it refused to unfold. Now why was that? I conclude that this was not freshly cooked roast turkey but a turkey that had been cooked days/months in advance and frozen before defrosting and being served to a public who would surely never notice the difference the real thing and something resembling a cross between cardboard and plastic AND the sprouts were similarly awful - they were squishy and inedible. I go to pains to say that was the only thing that marred an otherwise wonderful stay at Stanbrook Abbey Hotel - our hosts had arranged an interesting programme and were generous the gifts we received. It was also excellent to have our rooms serviced on even Christmas Day!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do something about the Turkey on Christmas Day - you did yourselves a real disservice in 2025! But we did enjoy everything else so much!!

Beautiful Hotel and Surroundings
Pros:

We stopped overnight on a trip from Darlington back home to Cornwall. The hotel has plentiful parking, beautiful well maintained grounds. Very pleasant to wander round and lots of history. We ate in the bar area and service was very good. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful and of a high standard. The room wasn’t huge but was again of a high standard. We would stay there again and would recommend to others.

An Outstanding, Extraordinary, Exceptional Wedding Venue
Pros:

If you want a venue who will treat you like royalty from start to finish, this is the venue for you! Our Co-ordinator Jodie from Stanbrook Abbey was absolutely phenomenal! She ensured that we had everything we needed, right down to the last detail. The whole process was made with ease. You are provided with meetings throughout, an amazing taster session and even discounts for your guests who plan to stay at the hotel on the night of Wedding Day. The staff were brilliant; they met all our needs and requests. The rooms were aesthetically gorgeous and comfortable.

My bridal party and I stayed in the Outstanding Bridal Manor the night before, and my husband’s groomsmen booked the basement where they played games, utilised the snooker table whilst enjoying fabulous food.

The order of the day couldn't of run smoother! Clyde our co-ordinator on the day of the wedding was so kind and considerate. The staff were professional and worked in unity. All our guests expressed how much they felt like Royalty! And the building! Absolutely Extraordinary!! I cannot thank you enough Stanbrook for making our day sooo Special!! I would recommend this Amazing 5-star experience to all!

Beautiful Wedding Venue
Pros:

My wife and I recently married at the beautiful Stanbrook Abbey.

We booked a 2 night stay which included breakfast. A separate room for the night before and a joint room for the night of the wedding.
The rooms were immaculate and homely.
The beds were comfy and the rooms were nice and warm on what was quite a chilly few days.
They had everything we needed, including a safe, a mini fridge and Netflix!

We had a meal in the Rectory on our first night and breakfast in bed on both mornings. The food was fantastic!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We couldn't recommend Stanbrook Abbey enough and are already looking forward to our next stay!

Beautiful venue, shame about the room!
Pros:

First time users of this location and this chain of hotels.
Upon arrival, it is easy to be impressed by the well maintained grounds and building, with a smart extension having been added to a historic Abbey. Plenty of parking available near the main reception.

A little dog station is available in the lobby for borrowing items for your pooch and this was a lovely touch.

Check in was quick and clearly the staff have been trained well. A history leaflet of the building being provided to first time guests being a welcome touch. The offer of additional purchases and add-ons were clearly explained.

The walk through the building to our room was impressive, with a seemingly immaculate attention to detail and cleanliness as you walked around the outside of the courtyard. This would clearly be a venue to host events and functions where the impressive building would add elegance to your photos.

Sadly, our room was the downfall of the stay and I do wish it was the room that was better and the communal areas had suffered neglect if given a choice.

For such a grand building and the price point, a basic double bed does not seem adequate. The rooms had plenty of open space, so this seems a missed opportunity.
While I accept the building is old, the light bulbs do not need to be of the same era! Weak, yellow light was provided for both reading lamps and the main ceiling light. It was not great for seeing in an already dark room and they are probably inefficient to run.
One reading light had faulty wiring and could only be activated by physically moving the whole wall mounted lamp (which was already loose) until you completed the circuit . This felt unsafe.

Roman blinds provided did not cover the window sufficiently and would be a struggle to sleep with during the months where it is lighter much earlier as light was coming in during a stormy October morning.

An old fan was attached to the wall for ventilation. It's appearance suggested it was maybe decades old and the noises it made when activated seemed to confirm its extensive service life. It was also either on (and oscillating) or off. No other functions obviously available.

Our sink taps were too low to the sink to be useful and were not great for handwashing. The sink surround was made up of several broken tiles.
The hot tap was completely loose and trying to use it, caused it to move an inch or two out of its place.

The lights in the bathroom had an obvious amount of dust left on the shades, suggesting they had not been cleaned in some time.

The bathroom was huge and had a lovely bath in it, as well as a great sized and powerful shower inside its own cubicle. However, the bath lotions etc were bolted to the wall inside the shower cubicle, so it was not possible to use them during a bath or transport them over to use, despite the bath having a shower attached to it. All the bath had provided was a small bar of soap - not an item I associate often with hair washing, as an example.

The above represent a list of things I was not expecting based on the brand name, price point or first impressions of the building and grounds.

Overall, this place is still fairly impressive and I would accept that maybe we either had a bad room or this is not the top location for this chain. I would try another venue in this group without
hesitation to see what else they have on offer.

Outstanding Service & Experience
Pros:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

During our overnight stay, we were lucky enough to be looked after by Molly, and she truly made our experience exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we arrived at the restaurant, Molly’s warm and welcoming attitude set the tone for the evening.

Her knowledge of the menu was genuinely impressive — she described each dish with confidence and enthusiasm, helping us make the perfect choices. She offered thoughtful recommendations that showed not only her familiarity with the menu but also her attention to our preferences. Every suggestion she made turned out to be absolutely delicious.

Molly’s service was quick, seamless, and utterly immaculate. Drinks were refilled without us even having to ask, dishes arrived promptly and perfectly presented, and she managed to balance professionalism with a friendly, approachable manner that made us feel right at home.

It’s rare to come across someone who elevates a dining experience quite like she did. Thanks to Molly, our entire stay felt that extra bit special — attentive, effortless, and genuinely memorable.

We’ll definitely be returning, and we hope to be served by Molly again next time. She’s a real credit to the team!

Fantastic experience in beautiful surroundings.
Pros:

A cream tea to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. It didn’t disappoint. Lovely friendly staff - superb selection of cakes and sandwiches and an extensive menu of teas. Tea was kept topped up. Couldn’t fault it at all. The Abbey is so utterly beautiful and being autumn the colours were gorgeous in the trees.

Excellent hotel in beautiful setting
Pros:

Stunning hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff, professional, friendly and welcoming.

We took our mini Dachshund and were delighted by the welcome he received. Comfy dog bed, food & water bowls all waiting in the room for him, alongside a much appreciated doggie treat bag.

We stayed in the Thompson Suite, which exceeded our expectations. Very spacious room with lovely views, including the sheep grazing outside. Beautiful bathroom, with roll top bath, which I made sure I made the most of. Huge comfortable bed, with high end bed linen. One small, but very much appreciated touch, was a mini bottle of milk left in the fridge for tea & coffee making. Something sadly missing from many hotels these days. It's these small touches that can make your stay.

Soon after we settled in our room, we received a call from Claire, to ask if we were happy with our room. Again, something that was appreciated, but not often experienced at other hotels. Needless to say we reported we with delighted our room.

We dined at George's Bar & restuarant in the hotel as we were accompanied by our Daschund. However, we were offered the same choice of menu as the main restaurant. The food was delicious, fabulous cocktails and Howie, who served us was a sheer delight and a credit to Stanbrook Abbey 🙂

We were unable to secure a booking at a hotel we have used previously when staying in Malvern, and we couldn't have been more pleased this opened the opportunity to stay at Stanbrook Abbey. It far exceeded our expectations and we will definitely stay again when we are next in the area or visiting the Morgan Factory (which is a mere 4 miles away!)

We loved learning about the history of the hotel and wandering through the Abbey cloisters to view the stunningly beautiful 'Nun's Powder Room' & the Callow Great Hall
