Overnight in Tawau
Pros:

Two of us stayed one night in a Queen deluxe room which was clean but rather basic.
The hot water was hit and miss, would run hot for less than a minute then cold.
The kitchen closed early and so did room service. Fortunately there are very good eateries nearby.
The room door uses a key and the door needs to be forcibly closed causing a loud noise and this applies to all doors so the slamming of other rooms doors is loud.
The saving grace is Awal the young man on reception. He was friendly and helpful.
All in all the hotel needs a lot of TLC.

Comfortable stay
Pros:

Booked this hotel because of its location closer to the event I was participating in. Although not in central part of the town, it is still a walking distance to many eateries. Facilities are good enough. Public car park available opposed and next to it is a food court.

Comfortable
Pros:

Stayed here before my trip to Semporna. It's a spacious, comfortable and clean room with all the amenities you need for your stay. A good stop to explore Tawau before heading out. Special mention to their strong shower which was really therapeutic!

Pathetic
Pros:

Renting a room under Hotel Emas Tawau:

Imagine every time when you have the urge and rush to washroom to answer the nature's call (number 2), only to find out that there is NO WATER, and whatever coming out needs to be put on hold.

Each and every time, each and every day, that has been my life in Tawau in the past 2 months. Empty water tank or faulty water pump, either way NO WATER.

Need to shower - no water.
Need to pass motion - no water.
Need to cook or wash - no water

Need to practise hand hygiene (wash hand) in a super red zone during pandemic - NO WATER.

Have been paying >RM800 per month for rental, water, and electricity with NO INTERNET CONNECTION, for staying in a unit where rats outnumber the human.

Pros:

いくつもの問題はあったものの、それなりの対応はしてもらいましたので良しとしました。静かで部屋は広々、この街ではこのホテルが一番です。

Aged hotel with A LOT to improve
Pros:

reached late evening to check in, rooms were already available. upon reaching the room, noticed the room was very musky. no decent wardrobe and the air cond was very noisy at times. the fridge cant be switched on as it was moved from its original location thus the plug was too far away. the wifi was also out of service. second day, had to ask the front desk to ask the staff to move the fridge, fix the internet and check on the water supply as there was water disruption on the second day! breakfast was very limited and the restaurant didnt refill the unavailable dishes. noticed they were signages with different directions for the Kiblat in the room and both directions were wrong. the bedding was not very comfortable and didnt manage to sleep properly at night. very poor soundproof and could hear some teens laughing and smoking along the corridor. the front desk counter staff were not very friendly, not very courteous and they hardly smile. the only staff worth the praise was Awal who works at the restaurant: very courteous and friendly.

Slow and unsatisfactory restaurant service
Pros:

12 of us went for lunch but after 1 hour hardly any of our food arrived and that was the choices of food and drink that WERE available out of the supposedly large menu. So we headed to the airport and found good coffee and decent food. By the way, as we were leaving we were told... the chef has just arrived. So WHO made such food as was served to us???

Peaceful and Seafoods!
Pros:

Location was superb with amenities, fast foods, supermarkets and historical places. Nearby with many seafood restaurants with reasonable price. Night markets selling local handicrafts for souvenirs. Borders with Sebatik Islands in Indonesia. Selling local produce of cocoa for chocolates. Tours to Cocoa Museum and Cocoa Village can be arranged.

A bit difficult for muslim like us to take wudhu for prayer as no pipe in the bathroom only shower
Pros:

The room is big and spacious. Iron board needs to be changed as the cover is torned. A lot of information has being provided in the room for review purposes. TV Programme are limited to few channels only, eventhough ASTRO guide has been provided, but didn't serve any purpose. Controling water temperature was a bit hard. Requested airport transfer but unable due to festive season.

Reasonable hotel for the price point
Pros:

It is a fairly dated hotel. The hotel is in the "old" part of town. To give an idea of how old the hotel was, the old airport was nearby this area before it was shifted 38km out of town. But, overall for a single occupancy rate, it is much better than most other hotels in this price range. I have stayed here many times, and the breakfast menu has not changed. I assure you it is a good spread for a free breakfast. The bedroom is clean and has a firm bed. Being an old building, the bathroom tiles has definitely seen better days. I could not figure out why there is no soap holder in the bath area.

Good for Business Trip
Pros:

Room was quite okay, cofy and enlighting. But Breakfast has limited choices and no convenience stores around the hotel. The room is big and spacious. TV Programme are limited to few channels only, eventhough ASTRO guide has been provided, but didn't serve any purpose. Controling water temperature was a bit hard. Old Hotel
Pros:

I stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Emas. I used our company corporate rate which is just cost RM 98.00 per night. Room is a bit old but bathroom is big.
Wifi is not strong in the room.
However breakfast provided is the best in town, lots of foods is made from their own cocoa.

Nice hotel for honeymoon.
Pros:

Everything is consider good for the hotel. Just when coming to breakfast ...its a bit late for food serving. 10% of the food haven't yet come out and some of us already complete their breakfast.

Chinesische Führung hinterläßt seine Spuren!
Pros:

Check in dauerte dadurch 1 Stunde.

Old but comfy
Pros:

Stayed for 2 nights in the executive room.
Furnitures are obviously old and some of it may need to be changed.
Breakfast choices are plenty with combo of local and western.
Fruits are fresh.
The specialty here is their cocoa drink.
Made from well known sabah beans.
Plenty of products made from cocoa is readily available at the reception.
The absolutely wonderful for me are the spicy chilli chocolate & cocoa shower gel.
Must try item that you can't get anywhere else.
