It’s definitely budget-friendly, and the beachfront location is a big plus—perfect if you want to stay in Station 2 without spending too much.
But let’s talk about the old main building. It really needs some repairs. The windows are worn out, some bathroom tiles are dated, the safe box wasn’t reliable, and overall, the room felt tired.
I genuinely wondered—why is there no complimentary coffee, tea, toothbrush, or even lotion? These are basic hotel amenities, especially for travelers staying more than a night.
Food wasn't as great as before. Staff were okay and the hotel does its job if you’re just here to sleep and spend most of your time outside.
So yes, La Carmela is affordable and well-located—but if you’re looking for comfort or a refreshed room, manage your expectations.
Dear La Carmela de Boracay Team,
Thank you very much for the warm hospitality during our stay. My family and I truly appreciate the care and kindness we received throughout our visit.
I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Danica from the Front Office and Mark from Housekeeping for their exceptional assistance. Your professionalism, patience, and genuine service made our stay more comfortable and meaningful. We are sincerely grateful for everything you have done for us.
Thank you once again for making our stay special. We hope to return in the future.
Warm regards
John Albert Ortega
We had room 224. The overall staff service was great. We got to check in early and whenever we needed more toilet paper, the staff was very nice and gave us more. The hotel room was clean. Unfortunately during the stay, there were a lot of cockroaches (ipis) and we had to kill at least 3 a day.
The location was great as it was the center of station 2. It was walking distance to the beach and many restaurants and shopping.
Really enjoyed the stay. Could literally walk out of the hotel onto the beach. Two small but nice, very clean pools. Breakfast had good selection, but quality a bit variable for Western tastes.
I booked our family in this hotel for 5 adults last Sept 25-26 but due to typhoon it was cancelled. I had another booking in a separate hotel which was Mandarin Island Hotel and there and then we had an amazing experience but why? Because La Carmela was just awe full and terrible when they knew that the vessels has been cancelled and suspended for few days and no one is allowed to travel to the island. So I had been calling them 4-6x a day before that day and been asking what ifs, since we cannot travel due to typhoon. Someone on the call from La Carmela advised that I can rebook one time within 30days if the vessel cancellation has not been lifted yet. And I said I dont know when will I rebook yet or what travel dates to rebook it. So I said I will call back but the next day the land fall came and all signals were affected and we also had blackouts although my calls were ringing to La Carmela but nobody answered or even called me back. So I decided to call Agoda since I booked through them and was advised that they will cancel and request for a refund but they are not able to reach them as well that day. So the next day, 26th me and my spouse separate hotel was good enough to rebook us there right away so we went to boracay since the cancellation of vessels were lifted and storm calmed already, we spent the night and just enjoyed our stay. Then on the 28th I tried to call La Carmela in the morning again and still no answer. So we decided to go there and just talked to reservations and to our shock, they said our reservations for our family has been forfeited and they said they dont know who advised me that I can rebook within 30days??? So it took about almost 2hrs waiting and arguing with them and we got tired and asked for manager but the supervisor Christy said to contact agoda and she gave us her number. We were so angry since we have errands to run to that day and we had been stuck dealing with them personally and just to be given a false information. They know that all boats are cancelled and they keep asking me again and again and I had to tell the story again and again and show my email confirmation and agoda response. It was just terrible. But just when we are on the boat back to Caticlan, the supervisor called and said that its ok and we can rebook the dates already. And asking if we are going to add another night, I said we will think about it. But we used that one night rebooking for the kids and my mom and turns out they hate it. They hate this place, the food and everything. Not good! Not friendly staffs either. Base on our experience. And the rooms are terrible and ugly. Yes its very cheap for family but we wont mind paying extra on other hotels if we get the right service. Thanks but no thanks to La Carmela its a BIG NEVER AGAIN!!!
They are excellent
Hotel was nice and friendly. Staff was on top of their game 24/7. Only complaints I have is this. First: that the WiFi only reached to the lobby and was worthless on the 3rd floor. Not impressed. Second: the breakfast was crap. The “protein” offered was hotdogs, fried fish heads and menudo. Every single day. You gotta keep it fresh and different at least every other day. As an American who LOVES Filipino food, I wished we had other breakfast stuffs like tocino, longanisa, even some fried baloney wouldn’t hurt. There was some other good breakfast stuffs but the protein is the most important along with rice of course. Lastly: it seems like trying to swim in the onsite pools were a headache. They wanted you to wash off in the wash area and if you’re a guy you can’t wear a shirt. Which is wrong and not fair to men who may or may not be self conscious. These listed items need improvement and to be refined for an absolute wonderful perfect week long stay in the most beautiful and coveted island in all of the Philippines. On a plus, the air on was awesome. Kept the room nice and cool all day long.
This is the 2nd time we stayed at La Carmela (the first one was 2012) and we are amazed that the hotel is now larger than before, with a separate building added. Our check-in was smooth around I guess almost 6pm-ish and seamless, and I was hoping that the rest of our stay will be.
I usually ask for the hotel room to be cleaned for each day I am staying especially the bathroom because I want it to be fresh when I got back as well as the toiletries replenished. Unfortunately, just right after our first night, the following day when we got back from our beach activity in the afternoon, we found a plastic with the hotel sheet with a note that we are being charged for the Henna stain on the sheet. But none of us had henna tattoo. We complained of course and were horrified because we might have slept in soiled and used sheets when we checked in. We asked for the supervisor who couldn’t give us a direct answer and even suggested that we inspect the room when the room is being cleaned (honestly, I don’t even understand how she even suggested that. How are we supposed to enjoy our stay if we are doing their job for them?). Anyway, they said that they would investigate, and the manager came back apologizing and re-assuring us that we used clean and newly laundered sheets. She also admitted that they use “used” sheets but assure that they are newly laundered and that the cleaning guy took it upon himself to charge us when he shouldn’t have. The manager stated that there is another manager who inspects the sheets to determine if the guests need to be charged and she said the “clearly this is an old stained sheet” and that their staff is mistaken. While the manager was apologetic and seems to sound convincing (that our sheets were clean in the first place), we somehow felt maltreated and victimized. She did offer to upgrade our room but somehow, we are already settled where we are (and it will take time to fix all our stuff which we don’t have and would rather save the time for enjoyment). The hotel was also generous to offer a free buffet breakfast on the last day but we already have plans on eating out. While we appreciate the complimentary being offered to us, I must be honest that this incident has already affected our experience negatively. As a result, we have decided not to have our room serviced for the remainder of our stay. We just asked for new towels, toiletries etc to be delivered to our room.
The stay was not at all that bad. Let’s review the breakfast. During the first morning, we opted for the plated breakfast and believe me it didn’t disappoint. We opted for this since we have an island tour and will be having unli buffet lunch. During the 2nd day we opted for the buffet breakfast for additional fee, and while there isn’t much choices, I believe the buffet menu was still generous given the price.
As for the sleep value, I guess we did sleep pretty well and the bed is comfy. And I believe they are one of the hotels with the best smelling shampoos I have ever tried.
The staff as well are very accommodating and polite. Except for “that” which has happened to us on the second day, our stay would have been perfect.
I came to Boracay to unwind, relax and spend my time with family... it's good thing it's easy to beach resort since it's near
I had a trip with family in la Carmela... It's good that it's very accessible to beach area that you can reach in few seconds.
Staying 4 nights of this hotel with my Family It's a recommended hotel and affordable place to stay right in front of the beach of station 3 where you can relax and enjoy the sunrise and spectacular sunser. We Enjoyed a dinner buffet while watching their signature fire dance.
Not clean
Besch front hotel. We really enjoy swimming pools and the fire dance during dinner buffet. We breakfast buffet is also a plus 💯 Special mention to Rizza of Front Desk for accommodating us. The staff are friendly and courteous.
the only downside is the wifi. nice staff. kudos to Eric from HK and all the staff in the Breakfast buffet new wing. Jessa who is so attentive to the guests. a nice stay. you got what you paid for. it feels safe during oir stay and its more important.
Standard room in main building, wifi non existent and constantly disconnected, rooms had no side table lamps, or even a side table for one of the beds. Breakfast buffet provided limited options. One of the rooms had a windo facing a wall... Rooms generally very dark with a small tv and very poor signal, was not even able to connect laptop.
Really nice place to stay near to the beach & enjoyed our stayed here staff are really good.
It was what i said...
N
Breakfast needs a lot of improvement
Bigger plates
More buffet tables
So the guests doesn’t need to queue.
Six of my family members stayed here from March 18 to 20, and I'm writing this on their behalf. All of them are senior citizens, two of whom are balikbayan.
The only decent thing during their stay was the food. Still, this is not enough to make up for La Carmela de Boracay's abominable customer service and subpar rooms—insects crawling, water from the shower gushing out —causing one of my uncles to use the towels in their room to keep the toilet floor from being completely flooded. They were then initially charged P2,700 for three towels, and settled on P1,000 not after a lengthy discussion which caused my family to almost miss their flight to their next destination. GUESTS (PAYING CUSTOMERS AT THAT!) DO NOT DESERVE TO GO THROUGH SUCH STRESS AND INCONVENIENCE, especially the older ones.
My relatives are beyond disappointed, especially with how they were dealt with by the management.
WILL NOT RECOMMEND this establishment.
