I have been using Booking.com for hotel stays and car rentals for more than 10 years, and this will be the first time I have ever left a negative review for a hotel through this platform.
The hotel itself is excellent in every respect. The location, cleanliness, comfort, and overall facilities were all very good. However, the attitude of the male receptionist during check-out was absolutely appalling.
To briefly explain what happened:
During check-in, I paid for the room with my credit card. I was then informed that an additional deposit was required. I tried to pay the deposit with the same credit card, but unfortunately, I had no available credit limit left. The two female receptionists on duty found a solution: they treated my initial card payment as the deposit and allowed me to pay for the room in cash instead. They also informed me that the deposit charged to my card would be refunded during check-out. They handled the situation in a very helpful, professional, and solution-oriented manner, and I would like to thank them for their assistance.
The following morning, I went to reception to check out and explained the situation from the previous evening to the male receptionist on duty. Unfortunately, his attitude was extremely unpleasant. He insisted that no refund was due because, according to him, the card payment had already been cancelled.
Despite explaining the situation clearly three times, he continued to refuse to believe me. He acted as though I had never paid for the room in cash and made comments along the lines of, “There is no payment to be refunded.”
His attitude made me feel as though I was making up the entire story over €80–90, which I found deeply offensive and completely unacceptable.
I asked him three separate times to contact the colleagues who had been on duty the previous evening to verify what had happened. Even this simple request seemed to be an unreasonable inconvenience to him.
