Fuji Lake Hotel

I believe they have two buildings and we stayed in the old (?) main building. The rooms are so spacious with two single beds plus the tatami floor, that can easily sleep four adults. They provide robes and slippers. Wearing them in public and even to the top floor breakfast restaurant is encouraged.

The in-room onsen tub is big enough for two adults and we were lucky enough to have one with the Mount Fuji view. They also offer a room charged by hour for the same privilege.

The breakfast offerings are also varied and high-quality. They also offer free samples treets and coffee and tea in the lobby and every half-hour shuttle to the 10-minute walk bus station. A local sightseeing bus route also has a stop right outside the hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights - to try and ensure we did see Mt Fuji. Having booked and then read some of the reviews, I was pretty worried. Yes, the beds are rather hard, and maybe our room could do with a bit of a refresh, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a private onsen in our room which had a view of Fuji - and was just lovely. The hotel has an observatory room with great views of Fuji and the lake. From what I could tell, it seems to be only hotel whose grounds are right on the lake - all the others seem to have either a road or car park in between them and the lake. It was so nice to sit in the November sun with a beer (from the hotel vending machine) by the lake. The dinner buffet was varied - and includes drinks. And the views from the 6th floor restaurant in the mornings were just stunning. They run regular shuttles to the station (about a 15 min walk) and the ropeway is a 5 min walk. I would definitely stay here if I went back.

Location is excellent, quiet and accessible with beautiful views. The staff are so kind and helpful. All spaces were very clean. I would noemally shy away from a buffet but was very satisfied with the options and includes all beverages as well for dinner.

We were lucky to have a view of My Fuji for the 2 days we were there. The complimentary breakfast was also very good.

部屋から出ると、たぶん中◯人であろう外国人が廊下で窓を開けてタバコを吸っていて、すごく嫌な気分になりました。さらには吸殻を外に投げ捨てていました。
その他はスタッフの対応や夕食のビュッフェも含めて全体的には素敵なお宿でした。

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding my recent stay booked via Agoda (Booking Number: 1636737450) at Fuji Lake Hotel, Room 452, check-in on August 10, 2025, and check-out at around 10:20 AM on August 11, 2025.

From the moment I arrived, the experience was unacceptable. Upon check-in, the toilet in my room was dirty and smelled strongly of urine, and the pillows were also dirty. This shows a severe lack of hygiene and quality control.

However, the most serious issue occurred during check-out. The female Japanese front desk staff member with short hair displayed discriminatory behavior, spoke rudely and curtly, acted with visible annoyance, and was disrespectful toward my mother while she was checking out at the counter.
Such conduct is unacceptable, unprofessional, and deeply disrespectful to paying guests.

I demand that Fuji Lake Hotel review CCTV footage from the front desk at the time of our check-out to confirm the incident and take immediate disciplinary action against the staff member involved.

Great breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed the unlimited steak, sushi and beer served during dinner. Although the private onsen was small, we loved our room in 779 with views of both the lake and mount Fuji from the bed. We kept our windows open so we could see both as the sun rise.

Nice hotel at Kawaguchiko area. The hotel is a little old, but functional. The buffet breakfast and dinner were fine with good variety of food option.

Very basic comfort and service, crowded and noisey. We’ve found bedding quite uncomfortable. In addition, we had to set up futons for our children ourselves every night. There was no choice of water temperature in the bathroom and toilet. No soap to wash hands with in the toilet. No hand towels. Food was average quality and the restaurant was very crowded and noisey. We booked private onsen - it was quite dirty (windows, ceilings) and the setting wasn’t aesthetically pleasing (not one to enjoy and relax in). The best thing was the view from our lake view room overlooking the lake (and Fuji on the other side).

お風呂も綺麗でアメニティが充実してました。
展望台からは富士山と河口湖がとても良く見えて綺麗でした。

ロケーションも良く部屋も綺麗で大変満足した1泊でした。
朝夕のビュッフェも品数が多く楽しかったです。

First, if you need specific assistance, here is what you want to stay. my mother with dementia, can get best service in Japan. You can reserve an Onsen tub in your room as private and request service chair, diaper dust box and wheel chair all free. Staff speak multiple languages and help you during the dinner and breakfast. You want to see Mt Fuji at and have breakfast buffet, this hotel I recommend. Enjoy during your stay in Japan. A reminder for those only carry credit card in your life, at least you have your smartphones, your experience in Japan is fine.
