Great location. Nice staff
Love freshly poached eggs
Still think can improve breakfast.
Fruit salad ok but could use less apples
More interesting fruit
Pastries run out to often
Different options different days ?
Pancakes ?
Liked everything, can’t fault the hotel.
Nothing
Breakfast And swimming pool
Low shower pressure
Lovely gardens and a great location for walking down to Teignmouth.
The gardens are great
Couldn’t book a table for 1 at the restaurant as to busy! Should accommodate for the amount of guests that stay. The floor boards made so many noises in the room above when the guests in that room moved. Bins outside my window and bin men came at 5:45am to empty them. Dogs barking most nights in other rooms.
The view from the bedroom, the gardens, proximity to the station, beach and town.
The peppercorn sauce with the steak at dinner was tasteless. The mini croissant at breakfast was dense and stodgy.
Good location
Bit dated
Breakfast
The lack of milk portions only ONE. with endless tea and coffee portions
Another fantastic stay at The Cliffden. It’s like home from home. You are made to feel so welcome by everyone. It’s the best dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed in. Would like to mention Debbie, Beth and Charlotte who are so friendly, nothing is a problem. The gardens are really beautiful. The rooftop garden has been so relaxing in this gorgeous weather. Looking forward to returning again in August.
Great location, grounds lovely, swimming pool great
Stayed a few times and sadly no breakfast for later diners - carnage, not enough staff, no crockery, no mugs, no food. This is the second time this has happened to us and it really is not acceptable. Sad as we love everything else about the hotel.
Good location for coast path, lovely grounds, delicious evening meal.
Room fairly basic and very hot.
Nice place but a bit tired in decor.
Pool, and dog walk to the prom
Location was excellent and good value for a last minute night away.
Enjoyed breakfast, especially having coffee out on the patio.
The walk through the garden down towards the beach was lovely.
Two beds joined together as a double was a slight negative, but absolutely fine for the night we were there.
Stunning gardens, amazing location, easy parking, good breakfast with views of the sea, lovely pool, friendly staff, clean and well maintained.
Room location very poor - looked out on a wall, parking and bins.
Poor curtains barely covered the windows and blocked no light meaning early waking!
Pool is strangely shallow with deep edges.
The Hotel is in a lovely location, with parking which is always a bonus. Our room was large, with lovely views out across the gardens to the sea. Breakfast was very good most of the time, however the hot items were sometimes a bit slow on being replenished. The staff were lovely, very hardworking and courteous, however, there didn't seem to be enough staff to cope.
What this place needs is some staff training and a manager that can oversee things! There were many things that just needed putting right, eg: We were not told that we needed a code to get out through the gate at the bottom of the garden, so my husband had to walk back up to get one. We were not asked to validate our credit card at reception until being told when we were ordering our drinks. The swimming pool was out of action because the CCTV wasn't working. The curtains in our room (beautiful by the way) needed some curtain hooks to hold them up properly, they were missing a lot. The menu was okay but they had run out of steak, that was okay but that was Saturday, they had still "run out" on Tuesday, along with the fish that "run out" on Monday, the gammon that I had instead was so overcooked, I should have sent it back but I was hungry by then. etc, etc, The weather was not very good, that is not the fault of the Hotel, but it was very cold and windy. Our room was so cold that my husband asked for a heater for our room as apparently they had switched the heating off at the start of May, but took no account of the temperature/weather which considering the age group of most guests seemed very inappropriate. There were other issues as well and all in all, FAWLTY TOWERS springs to mind! As I have said, it is a lovely Hotel but it needs some TLC and someone who cares.
Good location and lovely staff
