Two stars for the view. Zero for everything else.

Beautiful view, uninspired interiors, horrible customer service. I’m so disappointed I spent the time, money and effort to stay.

Visited during a heat wave. Arrived around 9pm. No taxis and I couldn’t reach the front desk (automated recording only) so my child and I ended up dragging our luggage up the incredibly steep incline to the hotel. The rooms have no air condition so there was no relief from the profoundly hot and sweaty situation.

One tower fan for a two room suite. One 0.25L bottle of water. So many insects, including a spider the size of my palm, from the open doors required to make the room bearable.

The next day I asked reception for taxi info since we were going into town and didn’t want to trek the hill again in 35C weather. She gave me two business cards. When I went to order a taxi at 3:00pm, neither spoke English or wanted to help. No taxis at the station again so we ended up trekking the hill again.

Attempted to make dinner reservations at the only restaurant and was told they were full. Called the front desk and complained enough to finally get a reservation. While we were there, it was half empty and others without reservations were seated. It took 40 minutes for drinks to arrive (one spritz, water, one soda). Another 30 min for food (one salad, one pasta dish). In the 2 hours we were there we weren’t asked once if we wanted more drinks, if everything was ok, etc. 2 requests for bread. Other tables around us were served promptly as we sat ignored. The bar was closed on a Saturday because the bartender called sick.

We travel often and have stayed in luxury hotels worldwide. This is by far the worst and least accommodating ever experienced. I expected so much more given the cost and good reviews, but Das Tegernsee clearly failed to meet even the most basic expectations. A good view only goes so far so my advice is to avoid this one.

Beautiful location. Wouldn't take much to be perfect, but fell short in a few areas.

Location was incredible. Stunning views.

Cons:

Staff were nice but not exceptional as you might expect for such high price rooms. The restaurant was nice but choice of food was very limited. The biergarden bar was a nice touch but again food choice was extremely limited.

Wir reisten erst nachts an - Empfangspersonal sehr herzlich - haben uns von Anfang bis Ende wirklich willkommen gefühlt.

Cons:

Der Ausblick vom Zimmer war naja aber natärlich der Buchung geschuldet. Empfehle jedem einen Seeblick zu buchen - der ist ein Traum vom Hotel und der Hotelterrasse aus.

Viel Potenzial, aber für diese Preisklasse zu viele Schwächen!
Pros:

Überragende Lage, ausgesprochen freundliches Personal und ein wirklich außergewöhnliches Frühstück. Auch die Tiefgarage ist sehr komfortabel und großzügig gestaltet. Das gesamte Hotel macht zudem einen sehr sauberen und gepflegten Eindruck.

Baulich bedingt können die Wege innerhalb des Hotels allerdings recht lang sein. Dafür kann das Hotel selbstverständlich nichts, da dies mit den über die Jahre erfolgten Erweiterungen zusammenhängt und grundsätzlich bereits im Vorfeld ersichtlich ist. Dennoch sollte man gut zu Fuß sein, um die Wege problemlos bewältigen zu können.

Cons:

Der Außenpool könnte wieder einmal eine gründliche Reinigung vertragen. Bei Temperaturen von über 35 Grad wäre es außerdem wünschenswert, wenn nicht nur die Liegen in der ersten Reihe, sondern alle Liegen am Außenpool mit Sonnenschirmen ausgestattet wären. Das fanden wir etwas merkwürdig.

Auch der Zustand unseres Chalets ließ zu wünschen übrig. Der Kühlschrank wackelte und war im Bereich der unteren Befestigung beschädigt. Zudem funktionierte der Fernseher zunächst nicht. Nach kurzer eigener Fehlersuche stellte sich heraus, dass das Sat-Kabel schlicht nicht eingesteckt war. So etwas kann natürlich einmal passieren. Es sollte jedoch bei einer entsprechenden Kontrolle durch das Personal auffallen.

Noch unverständlicher war für uns jedoch, dass unser Chalet - bei einem Preis von über 550 Euro pro Nacht - nicht einmal über eine Klimaanlage verfügte. Gerade in dieser Preisklasse darf man erwarten, dass sowohl die Ausstattung als auch der technische Zustand des Zimmers den Ansprüchen gerecht werden. Für uns ist das ein absolutes No-Go.

Auch das Abendessen im Restaurant hat unsere Erwartungen nicht erfüllt. Besonders der Salat für knapp 19 Euro wirkte sehr lieblos angerichtet. Schade, dass wir kein Foto gemacht haben. Geschmacklich war das Essen insgesamt zwar gut, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis empfanden wir jedoch nicht als angemessen. Wer großen Hunger mitbringt, könnte durchaus enttäuscht werden.

Wir sind deshalb am nächsten Abend im Ort essen gegangen und haben dort einige wirklich empfehlenswerte Lokale entdeckt.

Insgesamt gibt es also Licht und Schatten. Einige Punkte sollten aus unserer Sicht jedoch dringend überdacht werden.
