Adequate rooms, noisy air-con, good cold fridge, erratic wifi (but when it works it's fast enough), very good breakfast, good coffee, wonderful staff (but don't expect English just because it's an international hotel). One of good things about Azalai compared to any of the 'fancier' hotels is that it is within walking distance of fabric stores, banks, a patisserie, interesting street life, fantastic fruit and veg market, and a lovely garden restaurant around the corner (with fresh pasta). The downside (and it must be frustrating for the hotel) is the massive port expansion, which means you can't get to the beach and the drilling can be loud with bright lights. The pool is fantastic, but if you like to swim before work/conference as exercise/quiet, you'll have to argue and defend yourself daily for the right to swim there before 9 am (why I only opens then I cannot fathom, as it's too hot to be outside then, and most guests will anyway by then be at work).

The hotel is comfortable with a great outdoor swimming pool area. A number of things need attention to details: lack of towels for the bathroom floor as the shower is open and floor slippery when wet, replacing shower gels used daily, more meat variety at breakfast, placing note that water in the fridge is part of the bar and water outside is not! It takes a small things to make the stay memorable

Whether was good, room cleaned, but the price is higher vs the hotel level.

Staff was very friendly and professional, airport pickup and drop off were on time & only a short 15 min drive to/from the hotel. Hotel was clean, restaurant buffet was limited but tasty. Pool is nice. Conference room was simple but fully adequate. Halls to the guest room were drab. Guest room and bathroom were nice. Only serious problem is the air conditioner. The AC capacity for the guest rooms is far too small for the number of rooms in the hotel. I never had more than the slightest bit of air flow and the temperature never dropped below upper 70s F. I requested a fan but the hotel has none. The housekeeper also turns off the AC during the day so when I arrived my room temperature was well over 80 degrees and took quite a while to cool just a bit. Then during the day, he turned it off and when I returned late afternoon the room was hot again.

The hotel was a complete disappointment. The Air conditioning does not work. I stayed there for 4 days and I was sweating the whole time. Benin is a very hot country but the hotel room is even hotter. I complained so many times but no solution was done. I will never come here again.

First of I wanted to do a late checkout since my flight was at 11pm but was told by the front desk that they had no availability. I was able to go on Expedia and found that there was available rooms. I can not imagine for the life of me why the front desk would have told me they had no available rooms. I ended up booking on Expedia for another day just so I don't have to wait at the airport from checkout time till my flight time.
Secondly the sevice was really horrible, I was stopped at the entrance so they could verify I actually had a room in the hotel. I felt discriminated against either because I wasn't white or wearing a suit.
I would most def not recommend this hotel and will not be lodging here again.

Azalai hotel is conveniently located just 15 minutes to the airport. Basic rooms. Power supply failure happened almost daily. Basic breakfast. Nice pool. Basic gym. Air con was noisy in my room. Nice view of the sea. Not allowed to walk on the beach. Hotel needs a complete renovation

The property is now old. However, it's still very functional, neat and the staff are friendly. It's good enough for a sound sleep nothing fancy.

Excellent ambiance, beautiful art, lots of seating in lobby.
Accommodations for just hanging out at the bar , the pool, and beach location, and good food.
Excellent location to the supermarket, museums, airport, and the local big market.
The staff were all excellent and very polite.

I had a good time on my stay, very friendly and helpful staff.the only problem for me was the black lines between tiles in the bathroom, overall thumb up.

Personnel toujours très accueillant et aimable. Le wifi est d’un débit incertain et difficile pour travailler en chambre. Préférez les taxis à l’extérieur (que je pratique depuis de nombreuses années) très pro et correct quant aux prix et aux services proposés

This is a good hotel. I think for convention events it's one option in the Cotonou city. Next to the Port Autonomous of Cotonou, easy to see ships movement all the day.
Guest room it's fine, but no hot water shower. Restaurant for breakfast and other meals is international standard.

A little hic-ups at te start but Hotel staff did their best to resolve all issues. Very Friendly staff.

The hotel is wonderful. Great location by the sea. Quick access to the airport and Harbor. Internet in my room was very poor. I had to always get out of my room to the lobby if I wanted to get any work done. Right in front of my door in the corridor, the internet worked but the moment I stepped in the room it got messy.
