I inquired about membership in their gym and why the steam/sauna rates were not a part of the package. The trainer put me on phone with the so-called manager who curtly retorted that she didn't need me to tell her how to run her business. Mind you I was just making a polite enquiry and had informed I could increase the monthly payment if all was made inclusive.
Well equipped gym devoid of customers, cheerful trainer but the manager is intolerable. I spoke to another staff who concurs they only work there for lack of anything better.
I wonder how the rest of the place is run considering I did not encounter a single guest in the premises.
Anyone should think twice before visiting.
I think I may have been the only person staying in this hotel, probably as it is being renovated and not fully functional.
This accommodation was booked for me to stay over night in transit through Nairobi airport. It was selected on the basis of cost and proximity to the airport. Firstly it is not that close to the airport but when the traffic is quiet then the journey time by taxi is around 20 minutes but only if the taxi driver knows exactly where it is. Signposting for the hotel is invisible at night. The airport taxi cost me KSh2600 for the single trip.
The accommodation is basic: a bed, mosquito net, TV (no remote), en suite bathroom (poor shower with cold water, no toilet seat) and no internet. There are no other facilities or room service. My mistake was to open the window for fresh air. Despite the mosquito net I was kept awake by the swarm of mosquitos that inhabited my room. So instead of a restful night I was awake for several hours, arising even earlier than planned to wait in the lobby, escaping the mosquitos, for the taxi pick up at 6.00am.
On the positive side. The room was clean. I felt secure. The hotel receptionist, Ronald was friendly and helpful as best he could be.
The hotel is a slum
It was rated as a 5*hotel and in its day it likely was .... 50 years ago. They are attempting to update a small amount but you can never change the fact it is at the edge of the Naibori slums.
