Location, staff and breakfast
Was on the third floor
Location
Being on 2nd floor
Clean and spacious
The staff were lovely and accommodated for our motorcycles when parking the rooms are clean and tidy
The breakfast was adequate no crisps or nibbles behind the bar
Very comfortable, spacious room with sea views. The staff member we met was extremely polite and helpful (sorry I didn't get your name!)
Good breakfast, good tea & coffee facilities and location, nice old building.
It was a bit run down in places with peeling paint, broken store cupboard etc. The parking permit only covered 3 hrs then you had to move your car, but overall great value for money.
Huge family rooms
The property was in a good location and staff friendly. Our room although spacious was very dated. The dining chairs were also old and the broken leather stuck to our legs. The breakfast was complimentary so we were unable to swap food we didnt like.
Overall we only paid £88 for 4 of us and the parking and wifi was free. Good place for a budget break.
The room was so nice and spacious and the view was amazing
Nothing I didn’t like I was happy with my stay
You could not beat the price we paid for b&b,staff very helpful and friendly.Room small but clean a d tidy. Breakfast very nice ,well presented dining room and enough of what you wanted.well done to cook and staff.
Parking or lack of parking, permit given had to change time every 3 hrs no good if down on beach takes 20 mins for us to get to beach so there's 40 mins gone .needs 24 hr permit. We were told in all fairness that they have applied for 24 hr permits but we had to pay £6 at a near by carpark. The hotel needs alittle spruce up but we know times are hard.
Location was great and parking, friendly staff assuming it was the landlord, good breakfast included making it good value for money
The room including the bathroom was tired and needed some tlc, no signal on tv
The beds were comfortable and seemed clean, bathroom was clean but the room in general needed updating. Fantastic views from our bedroom which we really enjoyed. The breakfast was nice and for what we paid in general was good value for money. The hotel itself is abit run down but has potential to be made better with some fresher decor. Be aware that it is quite a bit of a walk to the front and steep hills/steps to walk back which isnt good for anyone with health problems/walking difficulties. Shower fluctuated cold temperatures. Had a good night sleep apart from being woken up by possibly drunk people swearing at 2.30/3am outside which startled our daughter abit but this could happen anywhere and dont think they were staying at the hotel.
The walk back to the hotel unsuitable for people with health problems or walking disabilities. The seating in the bar area felt like it could do with a good clean or reupholstering, the bar area needs abit more care/tlc. Could do with new carpets throughout and some brighter colours to liven it up abit.
The biggest plus at the Highlander is the staff, They are great and nothing was to much trouble.
For the price paid the breakfast was fair enough. If you want a Marriott breakfast go there a pay for one. The parking is hit and miss, free on the road outside, if you can find a spot. Rooms need updating and the noise from the saniflo style plumbing is very loud. With a little attention to detail the rooms could look a lot smarter rather than DIY flooring and exposed plumbing arould the loo.
Ladies will struggle with the hair dryer as there is no mirror in the bedroom near a plug. The hotel has a lift but it doesn't work which is a shame.
Super
Our stay at The Highlander was comfortable, excellent breakfast spoilt somewhat as I had booked a sea view and this was not available. Whether I had made an error or booking, com made an error . It was very disappointing. We would still stay again checking the view room with the hotel.
View of room tops and seagulls. Very squeaky bathroom door.
Location, great view and welcoming
Little dated but fine
Clean, very comfortable,
Man who gave us our keys was particularly helpful. Especially with our gluten and dairy free baby.
Breakfast was brilliant for her and had everything she needed
Nothing, it was just hot but didn't expect much else on the hottest day of the year
