Azure Hotel and Art Studio

Our group of 10 — including my wife and several couples — stayed two nights at The Azure Hotel & Art Studio in Simpson Bay after a cruise, and it was the perfect way to end a wonderful trip before our return flights home.
From the very beginning, the experience was seamless. Every pre-arrival email was answered promptly and thoroughly, and that same responsiveness continued throughout our stay — any question or issue was handled quickly and without fuss. It's a small thing that makes a big difference, especially when coordinating logistics for a group our size.
The hotel itself is everything a boutique property should be: beautifully situated right on one of Sint Maarten's most peaceful and uncrowded beaches, yet within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, nightlife and water sports. The setting is genuinely stunning — we watched sunsets from the patio that none of us will forget anytime soon.
The rooms were spotless, clean and well appointed, and the beds were genuinely among the most comfortable I've slept in — better than my own at home, which is saying something! All of this at a very reasonable price point that makes The Azure exceptional value. One practical note for light sleepers: the hotel is conveniently close to the airport, which is a real bonus for early departures — but worth knowing that you may hear some flight activity during the day. That said, there are no flights after around 9pm or before 8am, so a good night's sleep is never an issue.
But what really sets The Azure apart is Mike. Having owned and operated this property for 20+ years, his knowledge of Sint Maarten and surrounding islands is invaluable. His restaurant recommendations were spot-on, his snorkeling tips took us to spots we never would have found on our own, and his insider advice throughout our stay was the kind you simply can't get from a guidebook or a Google search.
The moment that cemented our 5-star review: at the end of our stay, our pre-arranged taxi company fell through at the last minute — a stressful situation when you have a group of 10 trying to make return flights. Mike immediately stepped in, called one of his trusted operators, and had a taxi at the door within 10 minutes. No drama, no panic — just a hotel owner who genuinely cares about his guests.

Great place to stay! Beautiful beach and amazing water! Pricing was great. Units are clean. Some units are newer than others, but all had what was needed and provide a comfortable plane to vacation stress free.

Some of the best snorkeling experienced on our cruise was had within 100 yards of our door here at the Azure hotel. Private beach chairs and umbrellas were perfect!

We stayed only one night at Azure. The location and reasonable price drew us here. The owner, Mike was on site at all times. He was very friendly, thoughtful and accommodating. Even though we arrived before the check-in time, Mike allowed us to put our luggage in the room and gave us beach towels to use while our room was being cleaned. He even pre-arranged a taxi to bring us to the airport the following day. Our room, #2, was small and definitely needed updating. However, we felt it had “old Caribbean” charm. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had adequate kitchen appliances and cookware. A small grocery store was a 5-minute walk away. There was an outdoor courtyard that housed 15 tortoises! We did not have an ocean view, but the beach was a 30-second walk away. Other rooms are somewhat newer and do have an ocean/beach view. Azure provided beach lounge chairs and umbrellas. We enjoyed our short time at this unique property.

This is a basic hotel, which is typical of the Islands. Somewhat simple and to the point. The location couldn’t be better for beach lovers.
It is sat right there, water lapping against the sand all night long. Very therapeutic and relaxing.
Close to the airport, with a few handy restaurants, a short walk in both directions along the beach.
All aspects of the hotel were very clean and Mike, the host came across very helpful and polite.
The bed was very comfortable, adorned with good quality bedding.
All in all did well !!!

The location is on the beach in a quiet part of the Simpson Bay area, but near to all the restaurants, shops and entertainment.

This place is absolutely awesome. The hosts are great and available at any time. They provide everything that you could need and there is a small store at the end of the street to get the extras that you want. I’ve stayed down the street at Mary’s Boon multiple times but couldn’t get a room when I wanted to go so I decided to give this place a try. I will definitely go back! We could not have been happier.

Had an AMAZING experience at the Azure Hotel. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in November. Absolutely unbeatable location on Simpson Bay - and so many terrific restaurants and bars within a 5-10 minute walk! Mike and Fawnette were amazing hosts - and treated us like extended family instead of hotel guests. Will definitely come back to visit them in the future!

Stopped over on our way to Anguilla. Location is perfect. Literally, within 15 minutes of our plane landing we were on the beach. Hotel has great character and room was clean. Perfect access to the ocean-front beach, and walking distance other restaurants. Price is a very good bargain. Beautiful views. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us after we had an unexpected emergency. Very grateful to his kindness and help, who dropped everything to help us. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone.

We had a great week here. The beach is very nice, and less than one minute walk from any room. No worries of sargassum here due south facing direction of the bay. Wave were by and large mild while we were here, again due to prevailing winds and beach location. Mike and Fawnette were great hosts, friendly and helpful. Our room, was plenty big enough and the king size bed was very comfortable. The a/c was excellent and housekeeping done daily. The accommodations are nothing fancy, pretty basic actually. If your like us, spending your day on the beach and in the ocean, this is a very functional economical choice. No fighting for chairs, umbrellas, there are enough for everyone staying here. We met two other couples who come here multiple times per year.
We rented a car, next time we may not. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We made a trip to carrefour for groceries the1st morning, we were set for the week. We have been to a fair number of places in the Caribbean, we definitely plan to come back here again. Tip. Condiments, coffee, paper towels are to be brought with you or purchased when you get here.

Ideal for walking out of your room and straight to the beach to go swimming in clear, calm water. Absolutely loved this place and the couple who own the hotel are very sweet.

We loved the days we spent at The Azure Hotel. The owner, Mike is friendly and welcoming! The room was clean and well cared for, not to mention, right on the beach! Parking can be a challenge, especially on the weekend, and the room is a little small. But for the value, having access to the beach is worth it. It’s not like you’re going to spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Overall, we would totally come back.

Mike and his lovely family are very welcoming. They are quick to help with anything you need. Housekeeping has done a great job too!

We wanted a small, clean, and comfy place to stay while celebrating our daughter's 5th birthday, and we found it! A bonus for the kids,...it is right on the beach. Everyone loves it here.

Located right on the beach, clean, easily can walk to food options. A mini mart is 100 yards down Roberts Rd. Can walk to main road with lots of food options: recommend Dannisa, Pizza and Co, McDonalds. Many other options also around at all price ranges.

Hotel owners have pets - small dogs, 2 cats, and several rescue tortoises. All friendly.

The area is truly beautiful. The water is clear. You can snorkel, swim, or just chill out. Several other places to stay are also nearby so kids can make friends with other kids with no effort.

Our stay was wonderful.

Lovely little place. Perhaps more a guest house than a hotel, but it met our needs perfectly for a 2-night stay in transit through St Maarten - clean, comfortable, with fridge, cooker etc., 5 minutes from the airport, walking distance to several shops and lots of restaurants, and literally right on the beach. We will be back next time we need to stop over in St Maarten
