A place to truly relax and enjoy
Pros:

The Alpina Gstaad is an exceptional hotel that combines genuine Alpine character with quiet, refined luxury. From the warm welcome on arrival to the beautifully designed rooms and stunning mountain views, everything feels considered and effortless.

Service is discreet, attentive and genuinely personal throughout the stay. The restaurants are consistently excellent, with creative dishes and an impressive wine selection. The Six Senses Spa is another standout calm, beautiful and perfect for switching off.

The Alpina is the kind of place where you can simply slow down, switch off, and fully relax.

Exceptional stay
Pros:

Our experience at The Alpina Gstaad began perfectly, as we were warmly welcomed and picked up directly at the train station.
The entire team is attentive, professional and sincerely friendly, always going the extra mile without ever feeling intrusive. Special mention goes to Nadine, whose leadership is clearly reflected in the exceptional standards throughout the hotel. Her warm presence, professionalism and attention to detail truly elevate the guest experience.
The rooms are beautifully designed and even though we stayed for only one night, it truly felt like a relaxing holiday.
A clear 10/10 recommendation!😊

Perfection from the very first moment

The welcome at The Alpina was very professional and incredibly warm. The staff are courteous at all times and the atmosphere is incredibly glamorous yet familiar. The music performance made the evening fantastic. The stay was simply perfect and was the best hotel experience we have ever had.

Solid 3 star hotel
Pros:

I stayed at this hotel last week and it was absolutely terrible from the second. We walked in. There were only mistakes. The servers of the hotel has nothing to do with a five star SWISS to hotel in the Alps and when we addressed all of the mistakes and the things that went wrong, no one cared and no one find a solution. I cannot recommend this hotel or spent this money it is overhyped outdated.

Alpine is very good but could improve.
Pros:

Checking in the Alpina, I expected to get an upgrade but a lady at the front desk told me they were full. This was lie and confirmed to me by other staff members that told me the hotel was maybe around 50% occupancy. As a Centurion holder I should have received one.
The staff there is hit and miss. The concierge team there is or vey professional like the older concierge or rude and arrogant like their young male concierge who kept arguing his point with a hotel client. Very unprofessional.
The waiters in the lounge are nowhere up to the task or professional like the ones from Gstaad Palace hotel.
Restaurants are good and offer a variety.
Rooms are probably the only category where I would place the hotel above the Palace hotel.
Ski room staff and drivers are all quite professional.
I would not recommend asking the conceirge to book ski instructors as they are some of the worst I have seen in Europe.
Staff needs to be more professional and accommodating to merit a 5 star review.
Breakfast is very good and with a wide variety on buffet and a la carte.
I would probably choose Palace hotel next time and it has a better lounge atmosphere than the Alpina.

One of the best hotels I know
Pros:

As usual, it was great. It was our fifth time. It's gotten significantly more expensive, though. Last year we paid 1665 Swiss Francs for our junior suite and this year it was 2070 Francs for the same room. But it was still worth it..

Near perfect!
Pros:

We had a phenomenal four night stay at The Alpina. The hotel is elevated and set away from downtown Gstaad and feels private and secluded. Every bit of the hotel from the arrival experience to the intricate woodwork and custom furniture in the rooms is designed to perfection. The hotel’s interior design is sophisticated and understated. Compared to the other comparable 5* hotels in Gstaad, we felt The Alpina offers a quiet luxury feel that the others couldn’t quite match.

The hotel staff were professional, gracious, and helpful. The concierge team was prompt and responsive to our requests and provided good recommendations prior to and during our stay. We had an inconvenient issue with our rental car’s tire pressure and the staff were kind enough to help us fix this.

We stayed in a gorgeous Junior Suite with mountain views which was luxuriously and graciously appointed. The room was amongst the very best we’ve stayed in of all our travels, it felt like no expense was spared. We found the bed a touch hard for our taste, but the linens were lovely. The hotel and our room were impeccably clean and well maintained. Housekeeping was responsive and helpful.

We loved relaxing at the beautiful outdoor pool and in the spa. The gym is great, both in terms of its modern clubby design and wide choice of equipment. The spa had many areas to enjoy and was exceptionally maintained.

Generally the food at the hotel was very good. We ate at Monti, The Alpina Lounge, the pool (same menu as the lounge), and did a cheese and wine tasting. Breakfast was delicious; the hotel offers a large and varied a la carte menu in addition to an extensive hot and cold buffet (surprised to say that the dim sum was my favorite part!). Service at breakfast was great, however for dinner the staff seemed consistently overwhelmed and understaffed. There were a few instances in which the staff forgot about a simple request or standard part of service (like offering a drinks menu and taking our drinks order), and the food seemed to take a long time (we waited 35+ minutes for starters on nights when the restaurant did not appear that crowded). The quality of the food at dinner was inconsistent; the bread at dinner was hard and stale and we received a salad that looked like it was made from the same ingredients you could find at a NYC deli, also the portion sizes were sometimes small for the price. The hotel had live music but the pieces played and style of the musicians seemed to be a mismatch for the atmosphere of the hotel… it was like being part of an awkward wedding during dinner instead of the cool sophisticated vibe felt we expected. Those experiences were disappointing for the price/caliber of the hotel but we were generally happy with the food.

All in all, a 10/10 stay! We hope to return.

Elegant Alpine Luxury at The Albina Gstaad
Pros:

The Albina Gstaad is a stunning hotel with a Six Senses spa, a well-equipped gym, and a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully designed and equipped with air conditioning, a rare luxury in the Alps. I’ve stayed here twice already and will definitely be returning.

One of the best in town
Pros:

I come to Gstaad several times a year, but this was my first time staying at the Alpina. As others will also describe it, the Alpina is the quieter, more spa focused palace hotel in the area, and while the bar and common areas may be lacking in atmosphere, the rooms are superior in their comfort and the spa is indeed excellent as are the swimming facilities.

While no stay is perfect, the issues encountered were negligible at best. For instance, the hotel does not do laundry on Sundays, but no one told me this prior to taking my laundry order. I was then called two hours later and told the turnaround time would be minimum 48 hours and would be double the price. Annoying, as most five star hotels in this world can turn around laundry in a few hours versus a few days, but not something of any real consequence. The shuttle service ends at 11pm, which I wasn’t told prior and left us stranded at midnight to walk back up the hill in the rain. Not ideal. Another gripe was the exceedingly slow service at breakfast; I am all for leisurely dining, but when I order a simple coffee, I don’t expect it to take 30 minutes to bring to the table… the real issue was having only one waitress serving the entire restaurant. Her attitude was superior but everyone was running out of patience. I would also note for a hotel of this size, the gym is very small and was always crowded both morning and evening, not sure if there is room to expand, but it should be considered.

Again, despite these very minor problems, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, as did my guests, this is a true five star hotel experience, and come winter, I would probably consider staying here again.

Special place
Pros:

We were so happy to see our friend Luis Roza waiting to drive us to The Alpina Hotel. He is an amazing friendly person with greatly customer oriented.
Upon check in we were told that room was ready as we advised hotel in advance on our arrival time. Also Fd mentioned that they were able to upgrade us but I had to emphasize that we actually paid for the upgrade and she quickly fixed herself 😊
We were escorted to the room but to our surprise when we entered the room there was no greeting card nor welcome amenities that we are used to. Anyway we got them later in the night after the turndown service. Freshly squeezed orange juice that is mostly appropriate for check in and not for sleeping. They changed the welcome cake this time to a lemon something not eatable.
Room as always impeccable clean and comfortable. One of the best housekeeping service in the world.
Mostly we enjoyed dinners in bar thanks to great service and drinks. Food on the other hand is plane, a lot to wish for. They should definitely bring an italian chef that understands and respects the Italian food. Just a recommendation to improve the food and bring some life to it and make The Alpina perfect.
Breakfast area always amazing with AnaMaria,Salvatore,Gaia and Giovanni!
The new Spa Manager Claire went above and beyond to make us feel amazing and she gave us a surprising 20 minutes sound healing treatment for family that was something super special and memorable. We ll even book it for our next stay.
All spa team as always the best ever Raffaela, Laura, Svetlana, Kasya,Lucas and Amelie! All simply the best!
See you for winter season!

A Truly Exceptional Experience – Worth Coming Back To
Pros:

We are a family that travels extensively and always choose our accommodation with great care. The Alpina Gstaad stands out as one of the finest hotels we've stayed at—offering a rare blend of understated luxury, impeccable service, and genuine warmth.

Despite being above our usual budget, we keep returning. Why? Because every detail—from the beautifully designed rooms to the serene spa and outstanding dining—reflects excellence. The atmosphere is both refined and welcoming, and the team consistently goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay.

The views of the surrounding nature are simply spectacular. Whether you're enjoying breakfast on the terrace or relaxing in your room, the panorama of the Bernese Alps adds a magical dimension to the experience.

All in all, The Alpina offers a unique kind of hospitality that makes you feel at home while still being thoroughly pampered. We’re already looking forward to our next visit

Heaven on Earth
Pros:

One of the most beautiful places we have ever been. You just cannot believe your eyes when you open the doors to the view. It is so beautiful that you think it is a fake movie set. The staff is beyond exceptional. Extremely professional and very attentive. Restaurants and Spa are fantastic and all of the recommendation our Concierge team made were perfect. We can't wait to return. Special thanks to Claire, Laura, Nonu, Fernando, Salvatore and Constentinos for going above and beyond.

A FIVE-STAR FLIRTATION WITH THE ALPINE GODS
Pros:

It’s not every day that one stumbles into luxury. Sometimes, it takes a bit of cosmic alignment — a conference on nature and the future of humanity, a few well-pulled strings, and a large dose of serendipity — to find oneself checking in at The Alpina Gstaad, Switzerland’s answer to the question: “What if heaven had central heating and room service?”

Now, let’s address the Swiss elephant in the room: is it expensive? Undoubtedly, yes. But so is a Stradivarius, and no one ever asked it to play for free.

From the moment you arrive, the experience unfolds with a kind of understated grandeur that money can’t quite buy — though your wallet will certainly try. The welcome at reception is not so much a check-in as it is a gentle ushering into another realm, where the only thing more elevated than the altitude is the service.

The rooms? Thoughtfully decorated with just the right mix of Alpine charm and international elegance — wood meets velvet, tradition flirts with technology — and the views… well, if you must stare wistfully into the void of existence, it might as well be a snow-kissed mountain valley.

The breakfast spread deserves its own standing ovation. Served with the kind of grace usually reserved for royal banquets, it ranged from the virtuously healthy to the gloriously sinful, all of it delivered with a smile that made you wonder if the staff had just been told you’d won a small lottery.

A complimentary shuttle? Yes. A spa? More accurately, a temple of indulgence. Saunas, steam rooms, chill pools (the kind where even your regrets feel refreshed), and not one but two swimming pools — one indoor, one outdoor — both with jacuzzis whispering, “You deserve this.”

The restaurants were equally divine — you don’t dine at Alpina, you commune. Even my vegetarian soul found solace and sophistication on every plate.

They say The Alpina is the most sought-after resort during ski season — and I believe them. But even off-season, it’s nothing short of a revelation. I had a fabulous stay, the kind that spoils you forever and teaches you how good life can be if you’re lucky, persistent, or well-networked.

Here’s hoping the universe conspires once more and I find myself returning. If not, I shall simply say I once flirted with the divine — and it wore bathrobes from The Alpina Gstaad.
